39 Lapis's resolution
We were in each other's arms cuddling in bed. I had wrapped my hands around her waist and she was carrasing my arms.
"Are you really not gonna do THAT today?" Clair asked.
"Why you want that? I am not so easy. If you really want that you have to work hard"
"There you go again. This is why I call you devil. You want to make me work seduce you when you are the one who should be making a move! You are the worst!"
"Well am I?" I smirked, "Then what are you who is my wife. Aren't you a devil's bride?"
"Hmm, whatever"
Getting that reply just made me slid my hands to pinch her nipples over her clothes.
"Hah" she gasped.
"What was that for?"
I shrugged.
"I just felt like doing that"
"Stop that! I already feel conflicted"
"Conflicted? about what?"
"About being a devil's bride. Huf" she pouted.
"Haha"
"Anyway what do you plan on doing now? I feel like it would be best to leave the city and get settled somewhere else"
"Nah, I would rather like to stay in this city. I am even registered in the guild and all"
"Okay~ if you say so"
"Yeah I want to save some money and by mansion or something for us"
Steve shrugged.
"If you say so."
"But what should I do now? To be honest I don't feel like working in that inn anymore. It has no female worker other than me and I don't feel safe there. Furthermore no one is willing to give me a job in the city. I was wondering what I should do"
"Hmm you will know better than me on what you should do. But you don't have to worry I will support you untill you find a suitable job to your fitting"
"Is that so?"
"Indeed"
"You can even be kind sometimes it seems"
Steve shrugged.
"Well I just felt like it"
Clair seemed to be lost in thought.
"Someday..."
"Someday? what?"
"Nothing, its nothing" CLair shook her head
What's wrong? Is this some kind of flag. Well flag or not you are mine CLair.
I closed my eyes feeling her body against mine. In each other's embrace who knows when we fell asleep.

Lapis's PoV
A man running through the dark ness of the night was stopped in his tracks at the city gates by the guards.
"Who are you? Reveal your purpose"
"I am a messenger who works for Lady Lapis" The masked man went ahead and handed a badge to the guards. Sur indeed it has Lapis's insignia.
The guards nodded and let him pass through. the messenger dashed with all his strength finally to reach the mansion.
*knock* *knock*
"Who is it?"
"Lady Lapis, its me Clyve a messenger seems to have arrived"
"Has he found their whereabouts?"
"No they have not been found in the east"
"Tch" Lapis bit her fingernails, "Where did they escape to? Why can't find them?"
Lapis had sent her messengers in different location to scout for Steve and Clair however all the ones who had returned till now weren't the ones holding good news. She has recieved no news of their whereabouts.
*knock* *knock*
"Lady Lapis another messenger has arrived. He seems to have news of their whereabouts"
"What!"
Lapis stood up as he flipped her table. Without caring for the mess she dashed outside.
"What did you find?" She asked the masked man.
"In the city of Lenaroth I spotted the two of them together or at least indivisuals who looked striingly similar to those two. My guess is that it is them"
"Where did you find them at?"
"I found them at the church exchanging vows"
Anger shot through her roof at that revealation. SHe punched the wall crushing it under her fist.
"Did they detect you?"
"No my lady I carried out your instructions with most secrecy"
"Hm Good. If my guess is not wrong they are not gonna leave that city so soon"
"We will leave immediately at morn'. Clyve make preparations of our departure. Check on Alt Whitworth if he is alive or not. We need to take him along with us"
"Yes my lady, I will work as per your wish" Clyve bowed to Lapis as he left.
The messenger followed behind her.
Clair was left alone in the corridor.
"Now what kind of punishment should I prepare for you Clair?"
A evil smiled endowed on her face. She knew they were both in her hands now. There was no saving them. The weight weighing on her shoulders was lifted. As soon as she knew Clair was in her hands all sorts of evil thoughts came to her mind.
Steve was important to her plans so having him back would surely make her happy but nothing... Nothing could compare to the happiness she woud feel amist harrasing Clair.
"This time I will break you for sure" she took an oath in her divilish heart.
"Maybe I should prepare some new tools in preparation of that day"
She looked around as if searching for something but then shook her head.
Clasping her hands into a fist she declared, "Nah, my magic is enough"
Lapis was a prodigy among her peers who was loved by mana. Her future prospects were unlimited. She was overqualified to be having the duke's title.
Her magic is top notch amongst his peers challenging even some well known adults and her magic constitution is growing as time passes only directing at becoming something great.
Isn't the very reason why she was able to summon an excellent familiar like Steve cause of her superior magic aptitude?
Her superior mana manipulation was what led to her to finish a perfect familiar summoning.
If the pace of her growth remains the same there will surely come a day when she will be the greatest mage of the Aleodan empire.
