Violence

This time, the teacher wasn't straightforwardly belligerent.

"There are three rules you are to follow from now on if you wish to keep attending at this school." I assumed this is what Paisely was talking about.

"You are to ignore the children living in the streets and provide no aid."

"You must fight in at least 50 battles with the rival houses per year."

"And lastly, you must not have any in house fighting"

While I understood the latter two, I didn't quite understand the first rule. Why must we ignore the children? It didn't make any sense and I wanted to ask a question, but everyone seemed to just accept and acknowledge it like it was normal.

I need to ask Cera why it is that it's normal in this kingdom to act this way.

The teacher went on to explain about classes and what we'd be learning, but what caught my attention was the fighting between houses.

"You will compete with the rival houses in regards to spells and fighting ability. Every you will be up against a different house and some of you will fight against them in the training arena. Your life might be in danger, so fight to the best of your ability." I'm not happy with the no in house fighting rule. Although, fighting every day will definitely help me improve. I need to become stronger.

"For now, we will be learning about the Rena Kingdom and its history. I'll begin by explaining the ancient witch and founder of our Kingdom."

As she was talking, Paisely poked me and passed me a note.

I opened it and it had said 'Thank you' on it.

I turned to her and gave her a smile and a thumbs up. Causing the teacher to throw a pencil right at me.

I caught it before it hit me, but now I was being threatened.

"Do you really want to get into trouble twice in one day? You may have been excused for being new, but now you have to do as I say."

"My bad." There's no rules about challenging teachers, so I might take up on the challenge and fight them instead of the students.

She continued giving her lessons and I could hear some people whispering about me. Now that they knew I was the transfer student, I started hearing the bad comments they were making.

I suppose gossip is fine as long as there's no in house fighting due to it.

Class eventually ended and we headed toward the training arena. Following our teacher whose name I didn't know. Paisely and I were instantly ostracized and the boys and much less the girls, started making bad comments about my behavior with the teachers.

Saying I wouldn't make it much longer and would be kicked out of the school soon.

I ignored their words and decided that I would one day beat every single person here besides Paisely. Whom was getting her name slandered simply because she talked to me and was hanging out with me.

"I wonder what house we'll be fighting." Said Paisely whom was walking right beside me.

"What are the names of the houses again?" I asked her, ashamed that I didn't pay attention in class because I was busy listening to the other students whisper about me.

"You should pay more attention in class, Zara. Starting with our house Aimo, the purple dragons, then there's Remac, the turtles, Neela the crows, and Esach the tigers." She proudly explained.

"Why are we the dragons? Cats are better." I would have preferred for our house to be the kitties.

"Not cats, Zara, tigers."

"Same thing."

We kept chatting until we finally arrived at the training arena. It was a huge yard with multiple circular fighting rings.

I saw that the training yard had four entrances, each one on a different side, which I assumed was for the other houses. Just as I was looking at the entrances, I noticed a few shadows coming through and it was a bunch of kids with the same uniform, but carrying a light green banner. The Remac house were going to be our first opponents.

I wondered why we didn't get to bring a banner, but I forgot we wasted time in the classroom because of what I did to the first teacher.

For now, it was only our class, but the teacher had said that eventually we'd be fighting with second and third years as well.

We waited until they reached us, but I didn't sense anyone particularly powerful from all the other students. As I thought earlier, it's probably for the best to challenge and fight the teacher instead.

"Who will be going first?" Said our teacher. A few boys volunteered and then they ended up fighting a very safe battle with the other house. Nothing particularly dangerous was happening. Like they were holding back because they were scared of hurting each other. That teacher explicitly said to treat this like our lives were on the line.

I raised my hand next and was sent to another fighting ring. Being matched up with another girl with freckles and blond hair. We didn't exchange pleasantries because as soon as it started, I launched myself at her and punched her teeth in. Feeling blood coming down from my fist, I sent her flying out of the ring and I was excited that I could go all out in a safe environment.

I waited for her to get back up. My hopes were up and I wanted to keep going, only to be disappointed by the fact that she was unconscious.

"House Aimo wins!" Said one of the boys who was being a makeshift referee for our fight.

I hadn't had enough. I was itching for violence.

They signaled me to get off the ring, but I wanted to keep going.

"Was that really it? Teacher, I want to keep going." My teacher looked at me with an annoying expression and simply ignored me.

I took that as an okay to keep going.

I stayed in the ring and another boy came up, but before we started, I spoke out.

"I want to challenge the teacher."

The boy in front of seemed angry and charged at me, but I simply dodged him and kicked him out of the ring with a kick to the stomach. Leaving him to cough blood outside of the arena.

I waited until their teacher accepted my challenge and he walked up to the arena.

"You'll regret this. I won't go easy on you just because you're a student." I was honestly surprised. It might not have been the first time a teacher was challenged. Seeing that he was super calm about it.

I prepared my stance, battle ready.

Neither of us moved.

We locked eyes, but that was it.

My instincts kicked in once again, telling me not to fight. But this time the other person was prepared.

I needed to land a surprise attack and get the upper-hand. He charged at me and he was way faster than I anticipated, wind surrounding all four of his limbs.

I barely blocked his attack and left my bones rattling.

"Not bad. Your reactions are good." He praised me, but it felt like mockery.

I could feel the stares of everybody on this fight. We had been surrounded by students.

He had a really heavy punch. I needed to dodge.

He once again charged at me, but this time I couldn't see it and I protected myself by creating ice all around me, just to see him jump back and prepare again.

I need my scythe.

My instincts were screaming to take this seriously. But I was here to train.

I surrounded my hands with mist, ready to freeze him at any moment.

I took the initiative this time and ran toward him at my max speed, throwing a jab but with my palm. Fighting to freeze him.

He quickly dodged and we continued going hand to hand until he made the mistake of attacking me head on and I caught his arm between my hands, freezing his entire arm before he broke free of my hold.

"One more." I warned him, but he didn't know it. He just looked at me indifferently.

If he gets near me again, I'm going to blow up his arm into tiny pieces.

Uneventfully he retreated and started attacking me from afar with wind. I jumped from side to side and back dodging his wind blades.

Trying my best to get close to him, I matched his wind blades with ice spikes.

Eventually making my way to him before he jumped out of the arena.

"That's enough, you're plenty strong already. Wait until you battle it out with the second and third years."

But my blood was itching for more. I wanted violence.

I jumped at him one last time before I could feel my teacher coming to interfere, trying to stop me, and the teacher I was fighting readied himself as well.

I managed to get my hand on his frozen arm before my teacher grappled me from behind, trying to stop me.

In the next moment, I blew up his arm. Blood spewing everywhere. And I could hear the whispers of the other students.

"Do you see that crazy look on her face? She's insane." I had no idea what my face looked like, but I knew that I wanted to keep fighting. I needed more blood.

In the next moment, he took advantage of the fact that I was being detained and punched me in the stomach with all his might, causing me to cough up blood and sending the both of us flying back. I could feel her grip loosen, so I broke free by kicking off the ground. Holding my stomach, I tried my best to regain my composure, but to no avail.

I summoned my scythe.

I wasn't going to let this guy live. I needed to reap his life. That was when more teachers showed up and surrounded me.

Restraining me with a spell.

Unable to move, I simply looked at the teacher I was fighting and swore that I would take his life in the future.

"Calm down. That's enough. This is your first day and you're already causing so much trouble." Said a man with a refined face and a strong complexion. Dirty blond hair and a muscular build.

"Take her to the dean's office and get hold of her guardian. She's going home."
