8 Villainous daughter

"... Are you this main character? No, no, no, no, you're not a commoner. You're a daughter of a duke, Miss Serea."

"It's not me."

"No?"

"I'm not the main character."

"Really??"

"I'm the fiancé of the prince who is condemned, forced to break off the engagement, and exiled from the academy."

"WHAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAT---------!!!!!"

What is going on….!?

So, I'm that prince ….. the bastard ….. the bastard prince?

Am I supposed to be like that?

I mean, is that what she thinks of me? Is that why she is acting like that?

"I'm a villain. I'm the villain of the story. I'm that kind of girl."

"If you call an aristocratic daughter that way, you can be punished… even if it's you, yourself. Please refrain from calling yourself a villain."

I might have over reacted but just to be sure I have ask her.

"What is the name of this prince?"

"Shin Midland, First Prince of the Kingdom of Rastaire, that is, you, Your Highness."

"Do I look like such a horrible guy ..."

I'm kind of disappointed.

"No, the prince is kind, and he treats everyone equally and is kind to the commoners. He's the target of the entire school's longing & love."

"... Well, that's my duty when I'm enrolled in the academy. It's just a matter of being fair in the school without discrimination."

That's right. The sign on the gate of the school says,

'Whoever passes through this gate must renounce all status.'

This is the idea that all men are equal before learning.

This is what my father, the king, advocated. In order to get talented people, they should be accepted fairly without distinction in status. This is the idea that will lead to the development of the country. I think it is a good policy that I can agree with. So whether you're a duke's son or a baron's son, a boy or a girl, or a commoner, there's no difference in status in the academy. You can talk to them as equals.

"His Highness will fall in love with the hero of the story, with me as his fiancée. I will become a joke then won't I?"

"That's terrible of me if that is true."

"I'm stubborn in the game. I can't stand the main character and make her go through all sorts of teasing and harassment. His Highness will start to hate me more and more for it while I'll stay oblivious to it all. And then eventually I will be casted away…."

Banishment huh? It's something serious. Getting thrown out of school and then the loss of standing in the society can make someone lose their status too. Their house will be effected too. This would lead to all sorts of horrible things even if it looks minor at first look.

"... You don't have to do that, now that you know."

"What?"

"No, you don't have to go through anything like that."

"But I can't stop Master Shin from falling in love with the main character."

"You don't mind if I don't go near that girl, do you? Won't that solve everything?"

"I don't know. I don't even know. I don't know if it's going to follow the way the game is played or can the game story even be stopped. But if it can't be stopped then I'll be exiled and this Colette family will fall in power. The results will be terrible. This villain will never have any sort of happy ending."

Without her speaking out loud, I could understand what she meant.

That was why she didn't wanted to be my fiancé. She is scared. She is worried about herself and her family.

But it's frustrating. Isn't it too unreasonable to assume that I'm going to do something I haven't done, and that me being a bastard is set in stone?

Did she play these kinds of games until she died when she was only ten years old in her supposed previous world? She must've stayed in the hospital for a long time...

She sounds so convinced but I can feel that deep down, regardless of the story or not….

She is unhappy and sad. It's like she is expecting misfortune in this world.

I'm starting to feel sorry for her.
