42 Handsome, Energetic, And Fun

The drive back to the hotel was filled with awkward silence.

Still curious as to what happened, Noah glanced at the two and asked, "So...what's happening tonight? Why am I not needed?"

Lucas glared at the man. He was particularly annoying today.

"Dye your hair black and I'll consider telling you," he grumbled. Noah had never asked him about his private matters. Why did he seem so interested today? Was it because of Maya? Did he get seduced by her flirting?

Noah touched the blond locks on his head with confusion. [What does this have to do with the color of my hair?]

Soon, the black Mercedes pulled up outside the hotel where Maya was staying. Without saying anything, she climbed out and started walking away. After what had happened, she wanted to find a hole to hide in.

At that moment, a voice shouted behind her, "I'll pick you up at 8pm. If you're hungry, eat something first. There will only be finger food at the event.

Without turning around, Maya nodded her head and scurried inside. Although she was too embarrassed to face the man, she couldn't miss the opportunity of seeing L7's latest work, so she headed back to her room to get changed.

Of course, Noah wasn't going to leave things there. He needed to know what had happened. So, roughly 40 minutes after Maya settled back at the hotel, there was a knock on her door.

Sure enough, it was Noah. He had just finished driving Lucas back to his hotel as well.

"What happened?" he asked as soon as the door opened. "Are you alright? Did he hurt you? Why are you seeing him again tonight? Is he forcing you?"

Maya raised her hands, gesturing for the man to calm down. She then pointed to the sofa. "Sit down first. I have some things to discuss with you."

Noah furrowed his brows anxiously but he did as told and walked over to the sofa.

After Maya closed the door, she sat down on the armchair beside him, took a deep breath, and asked, "Noah, who told you that Lucas tortured your sister until she went crazy?"

Noah looked at the woman in surprise. Why was she suddenly asking about his sister instead of answering his questions? "Nova told me herself. She was completely heartbroken and distraught," he replied.

Maya sighed. If Nova was really a crazy stalker, then it wouldn't be a surprise if she was delusional and thought Lucas was playing with her. How could Noah trust the words of someone that was mentally unstable?

"Did she have any witnesses or friends that can vouch for her claims?" Maya asked carefully. She knew how much Noah cared about his sister, so she didn't want to offend him.

Noah shook his head, "That's the thing. My sister loved him so much that she dedicated all her time to him and lost touch with her friends. They didn't even know she was seeing Lucas."

Maya furrowed her brows. The more she heard about Nova, the more she was certain that Lucas was telling the truth.

So, she asked gently, "Do you mind giving me the phone number for Nova's psychiatric hospital? I would like to talk to her and hear her story."

Noah's eyes softened when he heard this. No one had ever been concerned about his sister apart from him, and no one had ever helped him in his fight against Lucas Lee. But not only was Maya the first, she even put herself in danger this morning just to investigate the man.

Leaning forward, he looked into the woman's eyes and asked again, "Did anything happen to you in the helicopter earlier? I know you were trying to investigate Lucas, but if anything happened to you, I would feel guilty forever."

Maya bit her lower lip as she thought about the helicopter. She had spent the last 40 minutes trying to forget that experience, but Noah had to remind her about it again.

Earlier on, beside the cliff, she had told Lucas to dye his hair blond as a joke and started scurrying off. At that time, the man had actually grabbed her hand and pulled her back. "I'm curious, Miss Yeung. What do you like so much about blonds?" he tested, expecting that the woman wouldn't be able to answer. She had to be joking, right?

But to his surprise, Maya chuckled and replied, "They're generally handsome, energetic, fun, and the light hair makes their eyes more captivating. You should really give blond hair a try."

Maya had always been good at thinking on her feet. As she analyzed the man's dumbfounded reaction, she was satisfied. Freeing herself from his grip, she skipped away cheekily and returned to the helicopter.

The truth was, she was just messing with him because she knew how narcissistic he was, but she had never actually been interested in blonds. Growing up in the US, she had copped her fair share of racist slurs, and the worst experience came from one particular blond-haired boy who often said the meanest things to her. It wasn't until she walked up to him one day and punched him square in the face that he finally stopped. After that, she was slightly deterred by blond hair.

Delilah, on the other hand, was very different. She grew up in Hong Kong where there was a certain curiosity and prestige to dating a foreigner, so she had always found blond hair very attractive.

But, of course, Lucas didn't know that or he would have used it against her.

Instead, he fought back in a different way. The moment that Maya returned to the helicopter and sat down in her seat, Lucas climbed in after her, grabbed her chin again, and said, "Are you saying I'm not handsome, energetic, and fun. Look into my eyes, are you not captivated by them?"

Maya stared into the man's eyes. His voice was slightly seductive and it sent tingles down her spine. Earlier on, they were out in the open, so even though they were close, it didn't feel too intimate. But now, she could feel the man's warm breaths gently brushing against her nose, she could smell the unique fragrance of his cologne, and her eyes had nowhere to look but at him.

Maya leaned back and the man leaned in closer. What was he doing?

At that moment, the helicopter door shut. Maya instinctively tried to grab the handle and open it again, but Lucas quickly caught her hands and pinned them on the two sides of her head. Before long, the pilots started the engine, and they began to rise up off the ground. She had no route of escape.

Maya bit her bottom lip nervously as the man stared at her and his lips curved upwards evilly. "Miss Yeung, I'm a very competitive person. I don't like it when people doubt my abilities.

"I take this as a challenge to prove you wrong..."

He then leaned into her ear and whispered seductively, "After this ride, you will see that compared to your blond boys, I can be much more handsome, energetic, and fun..."
