43 First Kiss

Lucas slowly moved away from Maya's ear and looked into her eyes with amusement.

His gaze then trailed down to her lips and paused. He raised an eyebrow as though he was thinking something and smirked.

"What are you thinking?" Maya asked as she tried to break free from the man's grip.

However, the man had her pinned down tightly and she couldn't shake him off. What did he mean when he said he was going to show her how handsome, energetic, and fun he was? This helicopter cabin was small and they were strapped down by seatbelts. They had limited movement and there wasn't much they could do. What was this man planning?

Just as she was thinking this, the man suddenly leaned forward without answering her question. Maya squealed in surprise and closed her eyes as she realized the direction he was headed. Was he trying to kiss her?! But, instead of feeling the man's lips as she expected, she felt his nose gently brush against hers.

This action immediately made her fall silent.

The man was slow, and his breath tickled her lips with each puff. It was a gentle and affectionate gesture that teased her heart and made her stomach flutter. She slowly opened her eyes and noticed that his lips were so close, they were almost touching hers, but the man maintained a gap, teasing her with a charming look in his eyes.

"Were you expecting a kiss?" he asked in a teasing manner.

"I thought you preferred blonds..."

It had been a long time since Maya kissed a man. She still remembered the kisses she shared with her previous boyfriends. They were simple innocent pecks on the lips to confirm that they were a couple, but she had never thought anything special of them. In fact, she always wondered why people made such a big fuss over kisses.

But, at that moment, inside that helicopter, Lucas was only inches away from her lips and her heart was already fluttering out of control. This electrifying feeling was something that she had never felt before. The way he held her hand tightly but gently, the way he brushed his nose teasingly against hers, and the evilly charming look in his eyes, made her mind a blur. For a moment, she actually found herself wanting to kiss the man just to see how it would feel.

[What are you thinking Maya? You're not like that!]

However, she knew Lucas was just teasing her. Besides, he was practically still a stranger, Noah suspected him of doing some evil things, Delilah wanted to marry him, and there was a possibility that he could end up being her future brother-in-law, whether she helped Delilah or not. So she quickly brushed aside her thoughts and tried to break free again.

Lucas looked at the woman and the corners of his lips curled upwards. He was just messing with her. He had no intention of actually kissing her. He was just teaching her a lesson for telling him to dye his hair blond.

[This is what you get for acting cheeky!]

But neither Lucas nor Maya noticed that the two pilots in the front seat were watching them through the rearview mirror like two friends at a cinema. All they were missing was a bucket of popcorn. [Come on, kiss already!] The two pilots glanced at each other cheekily and smiled. They had flown with many couples before and even witnessed proposals, so they knew what to do at a moment like this.

With a turn of the control wheel, the helicopter took a sharp turn and tilted on its side. Not expecting this, Lucas naturally lost his balance and fell forward. Alas! Just as the pilots planned, his lips landed directly on top of Maya's.

Bullseye!

Maya froze in surprise and so did Lucas. Neither of them expected this to happen. For Lucas, this trip was an apology, and for Maya, this trip was an investigation. Furthermore, Lucas was just teasing the woman. How did they actually end up kissing?

As the helicopter straightened up, Lucas slowly moved away. His nose brushed against Maya's again and he looked into her shocked eyes. It wasn't her first kiss, nor was it his, but there was something different...

Lucas had kissed women before even though he never had a girlfriend. It was a fun activity...and he was told that he was good at it, but no feelings were ever involved. This kiss, however, almost made his heart jump out of his chest. And seeing the surprised expression on the woman's face, only stirred his heart even more.

He glanced down at the woman's lips. He had touched them briefly, but he clearly remembered how soft they were. They were softer than any lips he had ever kissed and he wanted more. He licked his lips nervously and the sweet flavor of watermelon teased his tastebuds. Remnants of the woman's lip gloss were left on his lips and it had a watermelon flavor.

His heart tightened as he felt the woman's breaths on him. Due to the shock, she was breathing quickly and the scent of watermelon tickled his senses. He looked into her eyes. She was surprised, but she did not seem disgusted nor offended. In fact, he even sensed a trace of anticipation. Was he imagining things?

Maya stared at the man. His lips had only touched hers for a brief moment, but her body was still tingling. No kiss had ever made her feel this way and she didn't quite understand why. Was it the kiss? Was it the man? Or was it adrenaline from being on a helicopter?

All she knew was, the feeling was addictive and she wanted to feel it again. Was it wrong for her to feel this way?

Like a moth being drawn to the light, she found herself glancing at the man's lips and slowly leaning forward with curiosity.

Lucas noticed this and his heart began to race. This woman was asking for another kiss.

[In that case, let me show you what a good kisser I am!]
