12 Ye City

Wang Shou's eyes were filled with fear as he looked at Fang Yuan, who was shrouded in darkness, trembling uncontrollably. The fear intensified when he realized that the person next to him in bed had been killed by Fang Yuan, causing his body to shake involuntarily.

"Hero, spare me. I don't know where I offended you. Please forgive me!"

Staring at the steel blade close to his neck, Wang Shou instinctively swallowed hard, his voice barely audible.

"Forgive you?"

Fang Yuan sneered, then said, "I can spare you if you hand over all the silver bills from your home."

"Silver bills?"

Wang Shou's expression changed, but seeing the steel blade so close to his neck, he endured the pain and said, "If the hero wants silver bills, I will give them to you."

Fang Yuan silently moved the steel blade away from Wang Shou's neck at his words.

Seeing the blade withdrawn, Wang Shou breathed a sigh of relief and quickly retrieved a wooden box from under his bed.

Opening the box, Wang Shou looked at the stacks of silver bills inside, his expression as if he had lost his parents. Grinding his teeth, he held the box with both hands and handed it to Fang Yuan.

"All the silver bills are here; this is all I have..."

Although the room was only dimly lit by a faint moonlight, Fang Yuan still saw Wang Shou's grieved expression.

With a slight smile, Fang Yuan took the silver bills and said, "Although I can spare your life, I’m afraid those servants you killed won’t!"

Wang Shou's face changed drastically, and he opened his mouth to scream.

In the next moment, a breeze swept by, and Wang Shou's about-to-explode voice abruptly stopped. A bloodstain appeared on his neck, and a surge of fresh blood sprayed out, narrowly missing Fang Yuan.

Glancing at the bleeding Wang Shou on the ground, Fang Yuan turned and left.

Avoiding the household servants in the mansion, Fang Yuan leaped over the wall and left Wang's residence.

After a short while, Fang Yuan returned to the rented civilian house.

"It's still a long time before dawn. I should rest for a while and set out when it gets bright."

Fang Yuan lay on the bed, gradually entering into a dreamland.

As for Wang's family, Fang Yuan didn't care at all. Even if they reported to the authorities, he would have left Willow Leaf Town long before the officials responded.

...

As the day began to dawn, the crowing of roosters awakened Fang Yuan from his sleep.

"It's getting light; I should leave."

Looking at the slightly brightening sky, Fang Yuan glanced at the silver bills in his bag and walked out of the room.

Walking on the roads of Willow Leaf Town, Fang Yuan felt the atmosphere to be normal, without any abnormalities.

"It seems that the people from Wang's family haven't discovered Wang Shou's body or haven't reported to the authorities yet."

Fang Yuan silently observed the pedestrians and headed out of Willow Leaf Town.

"Unfortunately, Willow Leaf Town doesn't have a horse market; otherwise, I could buy a horse for faster travel."

Willow Leaf Town was just a small town, making it challenging to find a horse. As for riding a donkey, that was out of Fang Yuan options.

Leaving Willow Leaf Town, Fang Yuan quickened his pace, heading towards his next destination, Ye City.

"When I reach Ye City, I'll start looking for candidates to build my own force."

"Not only that, I need to enhance my personal strength and acquire knowledge in this world. The person I simulated this time only had a stable boy background, so I need to learn many things from scratch."

"Especially medical skills and poisons. Since I plan to establish an organization, these things are essential."

"Moreover, learning medical skills and poisons will also be beneficial for my personal safety."

As Fang Yuan pondered, he arrived at Ye City after traveling through fields, hills, and dense forests. The city wall stood tall, covered in moss, appearing quite old. Carved above the city gate were the two characters 'Ye City,' while below the gate, groups of commoners were entering or leaving the city.

"I've arrived."

Watching the carved characters on the city wall, Fang Yuan nodded silently to himself.

Subsequently, Fang Yuan blended into the crowd and entered Ye City.

Once inside Ye City, Fang Yuan inquired with passersby and arrived at a dental agency.

According to his plan, he would stay in Ye City for a long time if nothings unexpected happened. Thus, Fang Yuan decided to buy a residence.

With a guide from the dental agency clerk, Fang Yuan visited several houses and finally stopped in front of one that met his requirements.

"The location is just right; it’s quiet, has a spacious courtyard and plenty of rooms, and it's close to the small river running through Ye City. Not bad."

Looking at the house that met his requirements, Fang Yuan nodded. "I'll take this one."

After that, Fang Yuan signed a contract with the dental agency clerk and bought the property. Although the house was expensive, Fang Yuan didn't care. As it was a risk-free transaction, the cost didn't matter to him.

"Being a chivalrous and righteous person is good; not only can it help others, but it can also quickly accumulate wealth."

With this thought in mind, Fang Yuan looked at the courtyard that now belonged to him alone and smiled faintly.

"Now that I have a house, the next step is to learn medical skills and find suitable individuals."

"To learn medical skills, I need to find a reputable teacher willing to impart genuine knowledge."

With these thoughts in mind, Fang Yuan tidied up the room, placed his steel blade and belongings in order, then walked out of the room and into a tavern.

After inquiring for a while, Fang Yuan found one in Ye City who met his requirements.

"Lin Yue, due to offending someone, can no longer open a medical shop and can only rely on accepting disciples for a living."

Walking on the street, Fang Yuan silently recalled the information he had gathered.

This Lin Yue happened to meet his requirements. Many people praised Lin Yue's exceptional medical skills and his willingness to impart substantial knowledge to his disciples. Despite offending someone, many still sought to become his apprentices.

However, Lin Yue was strict in accepting disciples, and only a few were fortunate enough to become his students.

Lost in his thoughts, Fang Yuan arrived at the door of Lin Yue's residence.

"Knock, knock, knock."

Fang Yuan reached out and knocked on the door.

"Coming."

An aged voice emanated from inside the courtyard, followed by the sound of footsteps. The closed gate opened slowly, revealing an elderly man with gray-white hair standing at the entrance, looking at Fang Yuan.

"Who are you?"

Fang Yuan replied, "I've come to apprentice myself and learn medicine."

Lin Yue glanced at Fang Yuan and shook his head slightly. "You're too old to start learning medicine now. Go back."

With that, Lin Yue stepped back, preparing to close the door.

Observing this, Fang Yuan silently took out three one-hundred-tael silver bills from his person and placed them in front of him.
