1 Chapter I

That previous night was a cold, lonely night without the moon, with nothing but the clouded sky as my companion. It seemed I wasn't the only who felt lonely that night, as tears fell from the sky all the way to the Dorset's ground.

Quite heavy, the rain was. Hitting the ground with loud thuding sounds. It ended up disturbing my father's peaceful sleep. He has been in a grumpy mood ever since. (Sevred him right for shouting at Shelia for no reason the other day). I couldn't help but giggle when he came down for breakfast with a small pout on his lips. He looked like an oversized baby.

But, as always, if something bad happens to him, I suffer too. That morning, I saw him send letters, stating the date of my party was moved up to next month.

Oh, how he loved to cause disruption in the manor. He just didn't care because if you could not do as you were told, you'd get sacked. Once you get sacked from our manor, no other manor would accept you, unless the wish to go against 'Duke Edward Johnson'.

On like other families, my family had blood of a royal from my father's side, dating back to the 12th hundreds. This gave my family a lot of power, making us more prestigious than higher class. Born a duke and got knighted in his 20's, the power he had was too much for his own good but what could I do?

I was nothing but a simple girl. A simple child with big, adventurous dreams. I didn't wish to settle down, at least not now. I wished to travel the world, see new places , try new food , to be free. But atlas ,dreams were called dreams for a reason. When I told father about my wish, he simply laughed in my face at first but when he saw my stern face , he realised I was serious. He started to talk to about the 'great importance it was to marry and carry on our family legacy and heritage as his only daughter'; 'about how I shouldn't be stubborn like my mother and just get wedded early ,so i could have more kids'.

Was I the only person who thought I, myself was too young? Even Shelia thought it was a 'wonderful' idea and told me all about her dream wedding.
