7 07 - New Weapon

I absorbed 70% and stopped voluntarily, but with the S-Eyes open I noticed that after the stone's Mana stopped being absorbed, what was left began to spread into empty space and gradually started to decrease in quantity .

"It's no use trying to keep absorbing it, now that its limit has been reached the stone starts to disperse the Mana that is left and no one else can absorb that Mana. That's why talent is so important. What I recommend now is that you pay attention to Mana in your body and start assimilating it with your original Mana. This process takes a variable time depending on the person's talent, so don't be in a hurry to absorb another mana stone." Elena said, still quite excited.

I looked at the stone in my hand at a little loss, this stone was very expensive, $1,000 was spent in a few minutes and now it could only serve at most as a paperweight…

"Since Mana Stones are so expensive, Is there any job in the Supernatural world that pays well?" I asked a little worried, as as good as my job was, I wasn't paid well enough to buy such expensive Mana Stones every month and still be able to pay my house bills.

Elena raised her eyebrow a little at that, before apparently understanding and responding with a smile. "Don't worry, most Supernaturals actually earn good salaries, the downside is that the jobs you can get initially are a bit dangerous, so I recommend that you first become physically stronger, as with your talent this It will be pretty quick, so with enough force I can introduce you to some friends."

This was a little worrying, as no one would want to do dangerous work, but thinking that this money would be used to make me stronger, it was really understandable.

I nodded. "Alright, so I'll train enough first in the meantime while I see some jobs in the normal world to buy my starting stones."

Speaking of which, I already started thinking about what I could do to make a lot of money in a short time. If it was before, I probably wouldn't have what to do, since if I had I would have already done it, but now it was different, I had some skills that would allow me to stand out and make money more easily.

The first idea that came to my mind was to rob a bank, but I quickly shook my head and put that idea aside, if it was that simple the Supernaturals would have done it a long time ago, there are probably Supernaturals who work in security like that of place.

In that case, I only have legal jobs left.

A few ideas crossed my mind, but one stood out the most. 'I can test this when I get home.'

Elena insisted that it would be good if I paid close attention to the Mana I absorbed from the stone, which for me was unnecessary as I had already integrated that Mana into myself and already felt that my total Mana had already increased to 101.7 Mana Units. , in addition to what I got for breaking that lockdown in the morning.

An increase of almost 2% in a day is a very rewarding thing.

But seeing that Elena was really worried, I smiled and nodded while pretending I was concentrating on my Mana.

In the meantime she was training physically, since as she already had more practice, she could handle more training than I could, and when I was tired she still had a lot of energy.

In order not to waste time, I started to develop ideas in my mind of what I could do to make money.

In just over 40 minutes Elena was finally tired and came to call me for us to leave.

I thought we were going to say good-bye and leave, but Elena still dragged me into a Supernatural store to buy me a means to do spells.

"Every Supernatural needs something like that, whether it's knights who need magic swords, or assassins who need magic daggers, even wizards need wands or magic spellbooks." She said as we walked towards the store she talked about.

After saying that, she pulled up the sleeves of the tracksuit she was wearing and showed me a bracelet on her wrist.

"This pulse is my way of using spells." When she finished saying that I looked carefully and activated my S-Eyes curiously.

My S-Eyes activated just in time to see Mana flowing from her arm to the bracelet. When the bracelet received enough Mana, it began to expand and unfold, turning into a sword!

"That's my sword. I've had it for a year, ever since I awakened my Mana. Normally a Supernatural will only have a half mana for a lifetime, as the longer you use it, the more you get used to it, but in case break or you get a better one is not impossible to exchange, you will just need more time to get used to it." She said as she swung her sword back and forth, but without using any spells.

I still wasn't used to the tranquility she had while showing magical things in public settings.

But when I looked around, no one was looking at us, like we were just normal people not worth paying attention to.

"Can't cameras record us using magic?" I asked confused.

Elena returned the sword to the form of a bracelet and responded. "Cameras can capture someone using magic, but because of training, normal humans will only ignore the sight of people using magic. Of course, if another Supernatural is watching the footage they'll see it clearly."

I nodded and started to accept that more.

"What do you think is a good medium for me?" I asked curiously.

Elena thought a little with her hand on her chin as she looked at me. "Of course, the ideal medium for mages is the wand, as you have much more Mana than ordinary Supernaturals, in addition to wands being the most expensive means, they only become truly useful when the mage already has more than 200 to 300 Mana. Initially I think a blade might be more useful to you."

I nodded. "What's the real use of a Conductor? Without a Conductor is it harder to cast a spell?"

Elena smiled a little and shook her head. "Not only is it difficult, it is almost impossible. I would say that while a regular spell needs 3 Units of Mana to be used with a Conduit, when used without a Conduit the person would need at least 30 Units of Mana. is a large amount for ordinary Supernaturals."

I was surprised by this. "But do skills have standardized mana cost or does it depend on person to person?"

She shook her head. "I wouldn't say it's standardized, it depends on the person's Mana control, but while a skill like teleport needs 10 Mana Unit per meter for an inexperienced person, someone who has been using the skill for years can teleport 2 meters using The same amount of Mana. While the cost has been halved, it's not as big of a difference as someone who uses a Conduit or someone who doesn't, which makes everyone need a Conduit to use most spells."

For a second my heart skipped a beat listening to the example she set, thinking she might have figured out that I knew this skill, but from the way she said it it sounds like it was just an example, and a pretty accurate example for my doubt.

She said that Supernaturals need 10 Mana per meter to teleport when using their Conduit, but I don't have a Conduit and spend the same amount of Mana.

Maybe I don't need a Conduit?

A few meters later we arrived at the store.

It was a very old looking shop, as if it had been here for centuries.

"This store is a Gill family store, they are one of the great families in the country. They are very talented artisans, perhaps the best on the continent." Elena said as she walked into the store and approached me while squeezing the mask a little over her face.

A store like this, where apparently Supernaturals were the only customers, must have a smell of impure mana too strong for her nose.

I followed her as I looked around. The store looked like an antique store, lots of old stuff scattered around the store.

Along the way I looked at things closest to me and saw a pink Karambit knife on a small stand.

Curious I looked for the price but was shocked when I saw it.

[Pink Karambit Knife Conductor - Craftsman: Noah Gill - Price: $2,000]

Damn, $2,000 for a pink Karambit? Despite being one of the most beautifully designed knives, the Karambit is said to be one of the worst knives to use in battle, would anyone be willing to pay $2,000 to have something like this?

Seeing that it was a Conduit I calmed down a bit, after all the price was probably because it could conduct Mana.

"Ignore this thing, this was made by my grandson a few months ago, he said he was inspired by a game he plays with his friends." An elderly female voice came to my ears as I looked at Karambit.

I looked to the side and saw that it was a very old lady in elegant clothes from the last century.

When Elena saw this lady she opened a rare smile and greeted. "Hello Mrs. Margaret!"

Hearing this, Mrs Margaret frowned and scolded. "I already told you to stop calling me Mistress, little girl!"

Elena shook her head slightly laughing and pointed at me. "My friend Oliver needs a Conductor, he is a newly awakened one and this will be his first Conductor."

The lady looked me up and down as she alternated between me and Elena before nodding her head and asking me. "Do you have any preferences for Conductor style?"

I thought about what I talked to Elena and thinking that I will be able to teleport during battle, something like a long sword will probably get in my way, so maybe a short blade is better.

"I thought of something like a short blade."

Hearing my answer, Margaret nodded and started walking in one direction as she explained. "In terms of the short blade we have Daggers, which are what we sell the most, we also have short knives like the Karambit my grandson made, smaller swords, even some hidden blades."

Hearing about the hidden blades I got a little interested, everyone who played that game about Assassins has ever wanted to have a hidden blade on their wrist while parkouring around town.

"What are hidden blades?" I asked.

"On this shelf are the best-selling hidden blades." She said as she pointed and explained to the main ones.

Unfortunately the one I imagined wasn't there.

Seeing me shaking my head Mrs Margaret hesitated a little before opening a box like the Karambit I had seen before.

"Here's a short blade my grandson made last year. As no one was interested I just kept it to make room for another better product." She said as she took a watch out of the box.

Looking at the watch I was a little confused initially, but when she injected some Mana into the watch a base extended up the watch's arm to spread across the wearer's arm while a 50 centimeter blade extended to approximately 20 centimeters. forward while the other 30 centimeters served as wrist support.

I was shocked to see that, as I had already seen some videos criticizing this blade for not being very useful because of the lack of support it would have if it had to come into contact with another blade in combat, but apparently even that was solved by the creator of it!

Thinking this gun was made by the man who made that Pink Karambit I couldn't help but be confused by the difference in quality and practicality.

"I can see?" I asked excitedly.

Mrs Margaret was a little startled to see my interest in this thing, but she took out the Mana and handed me the watch.

I quickly put the watch on my left arm as it was created to wear on that side and with a thought I injected Mana.

In the blink of an eye the entire structure extended up my arm as the blade jutted forward in a very intimidating way!

Testing the grip the blade had on my arm I realized that it was firmer than I'd imagined, I'd probably have no problem holding back someone's sword attack with a strength somewhat similar to mine.

"I want this, how much does it cost?" I asked excitedly.

Seeing this Mrs Margaret broke into a big smile and shook her head. "The advertised price was $40,000, the materials for this blade alone cost approximately $20,000, not counting the time the craftsman took to make, the price of $40,000 is really fair."

Hearing this I was immediately dismayed. If she said it would cost $5,000 I would still accept it as it is an amount within the range of what I could spend for such a good weapon.

But before I refused, Mrs Margaret kept saying. "But as you are the first customer to purchase a weapon produced by my grandson, this hidden blade will be a gift. He will be delighted to hear that someone liked something he made."

I was surprised by this, as I was already about to take the watch out to give it back to her. But with something this good, I wouldn't say no.

"Thank you so much, Ms. Margaret, and also thank your grandson for me, I hope I get to meet him one day." I honestly said, to create such a good structure for this hidden blade as a clock, her grandson is probably a genius!

Unfortunately I still didn't have anything to test my hidden blade with, but thinking about the job Elena said earlier, I would probably need the blade right now.
