"Maya!"

Wait, let me introduce you to this person. This is Hunter evans. My best friend. Non-athletic, barely likes exercising, and only stays in his dorm watching Korean dramas. Trying to pretend he speaks Korean and if you can't already tell, he's had more boyfriends than me. He's a party girl really. I ran off the track field over to the side

"Yes, Hunter." I responded with sweat still dripping down my forehead.

"Oh gosh girl. You're covered in sweat. How do you expect to find a boyfriend like that?" Hunter responded in a sassy tone.

"Obviously, you know my answer." I replied with a smirk.

"You don't. Girl, I know. You've been denying guys left and right, but, honey you are the cutest freshman in sunny hills college. Everyone and I mean everyone is talking about you." Hunter said while sipping my water bottle.

"Thanks, but no thanks. The guys here all suck. Just as much as the ones in high school."

"Still thinking about Cameron?" Hunter asked while handing me back my water bottle.

"We're not going to talk about this!" I replied

while closing my water bottle.

"Oh we're so gonna talk about this. Forget him, this happened when..in eleventh grade?" Hunter said with a look of disapproval.

I shrugged. "He was my first real boyfriend", I replied while looking downwards. Hunter pushed a piece of hair out of my face. "He can be your first real boyfriend but, girl I'm telling you he is not- the one. He gives me major gaydar, and take it from me. I'm never wrong about my gaydar, radar. Okay?" Hunter said in a sassy tone.

"Okay, but this conversation is so over." I said as I ran back to the track field.

Let me explain, Cameron reed is my ex. We dated throughout high school from ninth grade to eleventh. I thought we would last forever until… Cameron told me he wanted to see other people. He left me with no explanation and dumped me in front of everyone. It was seriously embarrassing.

Hunter told me by 'other people' he really meant 'guys' Hunter is stuck up on this idea that cam is actually gay. I don't believe him but anything's possible. I just hope he wouldn't hurt anyone else's feelings like he did mine. Whether it's a guy or girl doesn't matter to me. As long as he's honest with them.

After that, I closed off my emotions. I spent all twelfth grade focusing on training for track and my grades to earn a scholarship. Two years later, I made it here to sunny hills college. With a scholarship, I do so many extracurricular activities that I don't even have time to make friends. Besides, Hunter of course. I haven't seen Cameron in over a year, and the first semester is practically over. I had been doing pretty well for myself. I even earned a name, 'soul crusher' has a nice ring to it huh?

"Maya?" Said a voice from the other side of the field.

I ran over. "Yes, coach." The coached looked me up and down. "Practice has been over for an hour. I told you to stop practicing so late." The coach said.

i smiled. "I like training. Besides, I have the free time anyways." I replied.

Coach patted my head. She was nice like this to me often because, she knew I really loved running track. "Fine, but you have 20 more minutes then take a rest, maya." She said with a smiled before walking away. At least she gave me 20 more minutes.

After 20 minutes, I decided to go back to my dorm. Luckily, for me there was only me in my dorm. My dorm mate's left the college a few weeks ago to transfer. So, until they find a replacement. There's two empty beds in here. This is fine for me though. I find more peace in silence than in noise.

I went up to my room and prepared to take a shower. When I got out there were two girls there.

"AHHHHHHH" I screamed.

They stared at each other then over at me. One got up and walked towards me. She was wearing spiky boots and had black hair with blue streaks. Not to mention she has two nose piercings. Why was she coming over to me? It was my room, why was she so threatening?

She placed her hand on my forehead. "Are you okay, screaming girl?" She asked .

The other girl spoke to her. "Ivy. Introduce yourself, She doesn't know who you are." I was confused and in shock to see my new roommates.

"I'm ivy Lewis, the girlfriend of Eden." She said sternly.

The other girl who was reading a book on the bed lifted up and walked over to me. I don't know what it was but, she seemed scarier than ivy was. She was just wearing a black oversized hoodie with socks on and had her brown hair tied up in a ponytail. Yet something about her scared me more than ivy did.

I smiled. "Heh, nice to meet you ivy. I'm maya Watson and.. you are?" I asked while motioning towards the other girl.

She smiled and wrapped her arm around ivy. "I'm Eden, Eden Davis. The girlfriend of the one you just spoke to" she replied.

I looked at them both "are you two.. dating?" I asked.

Ivy smiled. "Yes, she's mine and mine only."

I sat down on my bed. "It's nice to meet you two." I said as I began fixing my bed.

"Not freaked out by living with lesbians?" Eden asked. "Or disgusted?" Ivy added.

"Why would i be either of those things?" I replied with a chuckle.

Eden laid back on the bed and began reading her book again. Ivy went over next to Eden and laid next to her and hugged her.

"No reason. Our old dorm mates were a bit.. idiotic." Ivy said while looking at Eden. Eden cuddled with ivy and kept reading.

I looked at them both. "If they had a problem because, you're lesbians. They're more than idiotic. They're complete jesters."

Eden lifted up with her threatening eyes. "What did you say your name was again?"

I felt obligated to answer. What was it about this girl that was so threatening in her tone? She talked in a low and quiet tone yet, it sounded terrifying.

"I'm maya.. maya Watson." I replied. "You're a star" ivy said with a smirk. I looked at them both and lifted up. "Wait how am I a star?" I replied.

Ivy got up and walked over to my bed. She leaned down at me. "You're the one who denies all the boys, right?" I looked downwards. "Well- yeah." I replied.

Eden lifted up "well, do you like girls too?" Me and ivy both looked at Eden at the same time.

I smiled. "No, this one guy just really broke my heart once. I guess I closed up after that." I replied. Eden got up and walked over to my bed next to ivy then, whispered something in her ear.

They both jumped onto the bed and hugged me. "We're gonna sleep like this today, boo?" Ivy asked Eden. Eden looked at ivy and said, "she needs a hug." Before covering up with my blanket. Well isn't this something, I've made new friends without even trying.

The next day, I woke up and they were missing. I decided to go wash my face and get ready. I walked into the bathroom and found them kissing. "ahem* making me the third wheel?" I said with a chuckle.

"No, just having a little " ivy replied with a smirk before kissing Eden one more time and walking out. "Your girlfriend is badass Eden." I said in amazement. Eden sighed, "she's just a bit…outgoing."

Me, Eden, and ivy began walking to class.

"MAYAAAAAAA!" screamed a voice from behind us.

I turned around. "Hunter" I said while he was running over to me. He jumped and hugged me. "Guess what girl" Hunter said in a excited tone. "What happened?" I replied. Hunter began speaking "so-" he stopped and turned to look at ivy and Eden. Eden's arm was around ivy and she was wearing black sweatpants and a red crop top. While ivy was wearing a white crop top with black leather pants and spiky boots.

He stared. "What" Eden said in a low tone. Hunter hid behind me. "Who are they?" He asked. I smiled "my new roommates." They looked at him. Eden laughed. "We won't bite you". Hunter looked at Eden then at ivy. "Girl, I don't know who you are but let me just say, your clothes are absolutely gorgeous."

Ivy chuckled. "Thanks" she replied. "Oh, well this one seems less scary than I thought." Hunter said. "well, anyways so I heard that the twin likes you."

I stared. "What twin?" I replied sarcastically. "No,no,no don't do that. You know exactly which twin. The sexy ones that are always near the track field and love taking off those shirts to show off their sexy bod-" I cut him off "ew, T-M-I Hunter." He looked at me then rolled his eyes.

"The twins- Nicolas Bennett and Christopher Bennett. Those sexy bodied men. Ring any bells?" Hunter asked.

"No" i smirked. He sighed. "Well, anyways girl Chris apparently likes you and besides that he was planning to ask you out. But, today he got stuck showing some new kid around" Hunter said in an annoyed tone.

I smiled, "well, lucky for the new kid. He can be with 'the twins' I said to quote and make fun of Hunter.

Hunter pouted. "So, not funny maya." Hunter replied.

Ivy grabbed Eden's arm. "I'm hungry" ivy said while pouting. Eden grabbed her. "She's hungry, sorry have to go feed her. See you later maya". Eden said in a hurry. "Bye eden, bye ivy" i replied before they walked away.

"Not even going to try to follow up with him?" Hunter asked. I just shrugged. "Maybe he'll date the new kid" I replied. I walked to class and listened to the lecture talking. When the lecture was over and I was bagging up all my books. The twins walked in.

"Hey, mr. Ross." Chris screamed while he walked in. God those twins…. They knew how to make an entrance though. I kept packing my bad annoyed.

"Good morning, mr.Ross" Nicolas said. If there was one thing I knew. It's that these twins were polar opposites. Nicolas was quiet and sweet. He cares for anyone. If anyone ask for help, he's the helper. Unlike Christopher.

Christopher clearly got all the confidence. Christopher was a playboy;he only cared about one person and that was himself. He was loud and obnoxious.

"This- is august carter. He's a transferred student and he's going to have this class on his schedule." Chris said so loudly I could hear from my seat. This name sounds so familiar but I don't know why. Forget it, let me just go.

I picked up my bag to walk out but, august had started speaking and I swear it was like all the spotlight had been on him now and his perfect hazel eyes.

"It's nice to meet you sir, I'm august carter. I can't wait to learn from you." He was smiling so brightly as if this was the best thing that ever happened in his life. I don't know why, but he seems so familiar. August.. august… who is august.

I walked over to him without even thinking. "Hi" I said with a smile. "Hey" he replied, still carrying the brightest smile on his face. "Im maya.. maya Watson. It's nice to meet you, august." He reached out his hand to shake mine.

"This pleasure is mine, Queen" I jumped in and hugged him. I don't know what came Over me. But, it was something about august, I couldn't resist. I took my bag and left after that. Leaving august with the twins and going to the cafeteria to eat lunch. I couldn't even think what came over me to do that. What the hell maya-

"Woah, she hugged you." Christopher said in a loud tone. Nicolas sitting on a table drinking soda pitched in. "Chris, making a big deal again I see?" Chris leaned towards august. "Why did she hug you, do you know her?" August say there eating a bag of chips. "Maya..maya- Watson.. I think I do. We knew each other as kids."

Christopher say down next to august. "Wait- so you have history. Dude, you should talk to her and try to get her to like you." Chris said with a smirk. "Why?" August asked while eating chips. "Why? Why!" Chris screamed. Nicolas still sitting on the table, turned and looked at august.

"She's a track star, who excels in all her classes, she's on the announcements, in the choir, and even the best in the art program. She's only a freshman and she's known as the prettiest girl in her year. But, she's not very social and she doesn't have many friends. It's hard to get near her." Nicolas said while smiling. He continued, "some people fail trying- like my brother".

Chris pitched in. "Nic, did you have to say that?" "It was only the truth" Nicolas replied in his normal low, calming tone.

August pitched in "so this chick.. is like unsocial and hard to befriend."

Nicolas smiled, "no, it's easy to make friends with her.. it's just hard to stay friends with her. Guys tend to fall for her perfect smile, and light brown eyes, not to mention her caring personality."

august replied "she doesn't sound that bad. What's the problem?" Chris looked at him in shock.

"That's because he left out a few parts. She's the sweetest person you can ever meet. I mean she does so many things in school and also volunteers at an animal shelter. There's nothing about her to hate. But, she refuse to date anyone. Apparently, she had this ex. Who broke her heart in high school and she never got over it." Chris continued.

"The worst story know. Is that at the beginning of the year a guy tried to ask her out and she denied him. He even got on the rooftop and told her, he would jump off if she didn't agree and you know what she told him.

'Then, do it. You look awfully pathetic to me right now. So, why would I save you?' She walked away and left him crying on the rooftop. He even transferred schools from embarrassment." Chris looked with a serious expression.

"She's a good friend to anyone but, she doesn't accept relationships at all. Anyone who tries gets brutally rejected. The only boy close to her is her best friend, Hunter."

Chris finished.

August replied "bet" the twins both looked at him confused. "Bet what?" Chris asked. August smiled, "I bet I can get her to say yes to me within 2 weeks." August replied. Chris and Nicolas both looked at august. "HUHHHH?" Chris screamed.

The next day, when I went down to the cafeteria, I ran into august again. I was walking and he was running and shouting my name. Why was he running towards me like that? "maya, MAYA!" He reached me and slammed into me and my tray. My food fell all over my face and he fell on top of me.

"Oh, shit-" he said as he began wiping the food off my face. I stared at him angrily. "Sorry?" He said with a smile while wiping off the food from my eyes with his sleeve. "Get-off-of-me." I said in an aggressive tone. "Oh right, yes yes, of course" he said while getting up.

He reached his hand down to help me up. I just slapped his hand and lifted myself up without his help. "Sorry maya.." he said in an awkward tone while smiling.

Chris ran up and stood beside him holding his shoulder. "Hey,august." Chris said before turning to me. "Oh my god what happened to you." Chris said while laughing. Nicolas walked over as well. He looked over at me then stood at the other side of august saying nothing.

"Your friend happened" i replied angrily.

"my friend?" Chris said with a smirk. I rolled my eyes about to punch them myself. Are you kidding me? I'm covered in spaghetti.

Eden walked over holding ivy's hand. "Shit, what did you idiots do to her?" Ivy asked while offering me a napkin. "Nice to see you too ivy" Nicolas replied. Chris laughed "not we, him. This is august." August looked at ivy and Eden. "Nice to meet you.." he said with an awkward laugh. I continued wiping my eyes.

"Wait, you know each other?" I asked. Chris wrapped his arm around ivy's neck playfully. "Well, of course we've only been close friends since first grade" Chris replied. Eden looked at Chris. "Take that arm off her or I'll take it off for you" Eden said to Chris.

Chris let go of ivy and hid behind august. "Well aren't you feisty this morning Eden." What are the odds my new roommates are the twins closest friends. Was this a good or a bad thing?

August looked at me. "Maya-" he said in shy tone. I rolled my eyes. "Yes, august" I replied. He grabbed my hand. "I wanna pursue you" i looked at him and snatched my hand away. "What?" I replied in a rude tone.

"Do you remember me maya? We used to know each other in grade school. I actually used to like you. A lot. And now that we met again, I just think this must be fate. I mean honestly it has to be because-" I cut him off mid sentence. "It's not fate. You're just competent enough to study at this college as well. Listen, I'm not interested and I don't remember you at all, you're wasting all of our time" I said in a stern and harass tone before walking away.

Ivy and Eden followed me to help me get cleaned up. "Great job, august,13 more days left. Day one seems to not be working out already." Chris said with a chuckle. "Shut up, he has 13 days" Nicolas replied. "Yeah, 13 days im not giving up just yet" august replied.

That night, I thought for a while. August, who was august. Finally, I understood. August carter. I knew him when I was a kid. We spent all grade school together. I thought so highly of him. He was smart, cute, and talented. In the talent show, he was the main lead in our play Romeo and Juliet. We were so small them, but even then I knew august carter was my first love.

How could I not recognize him? I adored him for years. I even missed him for years until I met Cameron. Cameron changed everything. I thought, I wouldn't have to be alone anymore. But, that only lasted a short while. Cameron was a total pest. He broke me heart with no remorse and even left the school after.

The next day, I went to my lecture and august was there bothering me again. He threw paper airplanes across the room. I picked up one and opened it up. 'Your eyes are the most beautiful thing I've ever seen' oh god how cheesy. I balled up the paper and threw it back towards him to say go away. He kept trying for 20 minutes but eventually got the picture when the teacher saw one and told him to read it to the class.

"So I have to teach?" He asked. "Read it. Since you're so crafty" he began reading. "You're the most beautiful woman I've ever met and I want fuc-" the teacher. Cut him off. "Don't read it. God you kids. Just go back to your seat" he walked over to his seat and looked over at me with a smirk and shrugged. He was cute actually, oh god what is wrong with you august carter-

When the lecture was over he ran over to me. "Hello" he said In a seductive tone while leaning onto the seat in front of me. "And goodbye" I replied. He grabbed my hand. "No wait maya" someone else snatched his hand off mine.

"Cameron?" I asked in shock. Was my ex really here? What was going on? "Take your hand off of her" Cameron said aggressively. Was he jealous? "When'd you get here, Cameron." August asked. "I just transferred this morning" Cameron said before turning to me and smirking. "I'm going to go to sunny hills now" what did he say.. he's going… here?

I rolled my eyes. Cameron stood in front of august and said "maya I like august so back off" wait what- what did he just say.. he likes.. august? August jumped in front of him. "Maya, I- didn't know he was here." I paused. "So, you're telling me. You came all the way and transferred to sunny hills because.. you like.. august-?" I said in a confused tone.

Cameron grabbed August's hand and screamed. "Yes, so back off" I just stared in shock. What.. Cameron came all the way here, for august.. he dumped me to chase.. august? I just heals my bag tighter and walked out.

Well, that was humiliating. I thought he was jealous of me. He was, but not because I was with another guy. But instead because that guy was with me? Shit- Hunter is so gonna brag about this later.
