Sect Leader Haste spoke with a slight nod as everyone stood up, Maeve replied with a smile and nodded back. Sect Leader Fianna and Maxen also had smiles on their faces and in this lively, smiley atmosphere, only two people had negative expressions on their faces.

Though it was worded like it was a request, the tone's absoluteness was on a completely different level. In the end, Sect leader Kalm just nodded and replied.

"Just give me 30 minutes, it'll be done"

Right now, Sect Leader Kalm was standing in front of Maeve, unbeknownst to him, his head was a little tilted towards the ground as he faced her.

"Has everyone arrived?" Maeve questioned.

"Yes, other than Great Elder Ace, everyone is present. Great Elder Ace said that he can't leave his daughter alone in the house so he won't be attending the meeting" Sect Leader Kalm replied.

"Figured…" Maeve muttered lightly before she nodded and stood up.

"That's fine. Let's go then." Maeve spoke as she walked towards the hall where all elders were. Sect Leader Kalm followed behind her and the two entered the hall.

"Hmm?"

"Mrs. Vorste?"

Some signs of shock and admirations were heard but Maeve ignored them all as she sat on Ace's seat before Sect Leader Kalm followed her actions and sat on his own seat.

"Good afternoon to you all. Most of you should already know me, for those who don't, my name is Maeve Vorste, wife of Great Elder Ace Vorste and I called this meeting in his stead."

Maeve spoke out loud, her words clear and confident, and her voice, melodious, but at the same time imposing.

"So, without wasting mine or your precious time, let's start with the meeting." Maeve started, gaining the attention of everyone present.

If her status as Great Elder Ace's wife wasn't enough, her authoritative voice forced everyone to listen to her carefully and seriously. The way she talked shocked Sect Leader Kalm even after he saw her talking casually to the 4 sect leaders before.

"As you all know, our sect was attacked by few attackers last night and the mastermind turned out to be Payn from the Vicious Snake Sect but thinking about it... have anyone of you considered why were we attacked?" Maeve started with a question.

The Elders stayed silent for a while before Sect Leader Kalm spoke with a frown, "The only reason I see is to prevent Elder Ace from participating in the Annual Sect Meet, either by injuring or blackmailing him"

*Gasps*

"Ahh… the annual sects meet…"

"Right…"

"Why didn't I think of that…?"

"Does that mean they would try again?"

The Elders gasped in realization and Maeve nodded.

"That is correct.

There is no way their disciples could defeat hubby to gain the top 2 spots, so for their disciples to have a shot at the chance of joining the Imperial Academy of Magic, they would definitely try to deal damage or prevent opposition to participate in the tournament." Maeve spoke and everyone nodded. Though dirty, it was a common tactic.

"But if you think about it, hubby can only take one spot, the other one should be taken by Maya Jolte of the Gracious Flower Sect. If that was the case, why didn't they attack her?"

"Isn't it obvious? That's because she is protected by Gracious Flower Sect, one the 4 strongest sects" Elder Ario replied, gaining a few nods from some elders.

"Oh? Then let me ask you, Elder Ario, would you rather attack someone weaker than you, protected by someone stronger than you; or would you attack someone stronger than you?"

"O-Obviously, since Gracious Flower Sect has too strong of a defense, plus, they should be alert right now, I'd try and attack Elder Ace…" Elder Ario replied uncertainly.

"Oh? So you mean to tell me, that rather than attacking a girl who is being protected by someone, fearing that someone from her sect would catch and kill you; you will attack someone who has strength equal to the one protecting that girl?" Maeve shook her head and continued.
