1 Taking a Break

-" Luckas, are you done yet? Matthew needs help with a pentest of a new client."

Luckas sighed, he was tired and the amount of work yet to be done only increased, while he loved working in cybersecurity.

-" I need to finish this report for tomorrow's meeting, give me an hour."

-" Okay, but you need to be fast, this one is a client is an important one, we can't let anything go wrong."

-" Sure." Luckas said while rolling his eyes, his boss always said the same thing when he wanted to overwork his employees

He was thinking about quitting his job, after all, he worked so much that he could barely enjoy his young adult life, he only wanted to finish this project he was the leader so he can send his resignation letter.

After finishing the report Luckas, made himself a coffee and headed down to the first floor where Matthew and his team were.

The first floor was a room full of messy cables, servers, and a bunch of computers. It was basically the main floor of the company, Luckas was one of the only people that liked being on the first floor as there was less noise there.

-" Yo, how is the pentest doing?" Asked Luckas as he walked upstairs.

-" Just doing the first OSINT gathering" Matthew answered with dark circles around his eyes, it was clear that he too was being severely overworked.

-" Fuck… Is it a black box?"

-" Sure is, and the project expected timeframe is just 2 weeks." Matthew continued,

Luckas sat at the meeting table and looked around, it was almost 7 Pm so few people were in the company, just Luckas from his team and Matthew and his co-manager, the notice of this last project was given way too late so most of the employees were home.

-" I don't think I will have a good night so soon."

-" The less you whine the more work we get done today, I want to go home in an hour and we need to finish the information gathering today so we can start to the pentest tomorrow."

Luckas was out of energy to rebut and already was used to his co-worker's stuck-up personality, he and Matthew used to have constant fights when they were on the same team.

One hour passed in an instant and Matthew got up with his co-manager and started packing for going home.

-" Remember to close and lock everything up when you're finished."

-" Don't worry, I'm just finishing this and I'm going too." Luckas said as he watched the duo exiting the building.

When Matthew closed the door, Luckas minimized what he was working on and started to type his resignation letter, after typing about half of the letter he stopped and rested his head on the table.

-" Maybe I should take a nap before finishing this." His eyes were heavy and in the same instant that he closed it, he fell asleep.

He was so tired that even sleeping on his table he slept like a baby and only woke up when he felt scorching heat on his body.

-" Fuck, why is so hot all of sudden did Matthew come back and turned the air conditioner off?"

He slowly opened his eyes and looked around only to see a sea of fire in the building, he instantly panicked and ran to the door, as he tried to open the door but the handle was too hot.

-" Fuck, fuck, fuck, I can't open the door." He looked around searching for an exit. "Shit where is my phone,"

He ran to the meeting table to get his phone and dialed for the firefighters, as the call was being made he ran again but his time to the windows, he looked down, he was on the 5th floor, he looked down but he couldn't muster the courage to jump so he tried to scream for help, but the street was empty.

-" Fuck, why the street is so empty right now? What hour is that?" Luckas heart was racing, his cellphone was still in his ear as the call continued to ring, he looked at his cellphone and looked at the hour.

-" What a dammed nap that, why the fuck did I sleep for 3 hours? Luckas was seriously regretting sleeping in the office right now, there was so much smoke in the office that he was suffocating even in the window, his clothes were drenched in sweat and he felt all his strength leaving him.

As his vision was darkening, the firefighter department picked up, but before he could speak anything his vision turned completely dark and he passed out.

Luckas felt drops of water in his face and he woke up in a daze, he could barely believe the dream he had.

He felt weak and sluggish, as he opened his eyes light blinded his vision.

-" Holy shit, that dream was too terrifying, thank god I finally awake." Luckas took a deep breath and felt the fresh air, the feeling of the scorching in his lungs was still vivid.

A few moments later he noticed a cool breeze and the smell of dirt and nature around him.

" Why is there wind here all of a sudden? And this smell…" Luckas finally opened his eyes and looked around.

He was shocked, what did he see wasn't the familiar sight of the office room completely covered by the mainframe computers, he was in a big forest with big trees around him.

-" Hello is someone there?" Luckas screamed, he was almost going crazy, his memories were a mess.

Why I'm in a forest all of a sudden, he tried to organize his memories but all he could recollect was the hellish memories of the fire in the office.

-" Don't tell me the dream was real? Dear god did I really die in a fire?" Luckas got up and started walking around. "If I really died, how did I end up here? This is supposed to be heaven or something?"

He tried to calm himself and continued to walk around just to suddenly stop as an interface appeared in his vision.
