Chapter 3 Do You Really Intend For Me To Marry Her?_1

At dinner time, Lu Yebai didn't return as expected. With their father frequently away on business trips, only Lady Lu and Meng Xi'er were at the dinner table. Lady Lu asked the butler to call Lu Yebai, but was directly hung up on.

"Oh... I've completely spoiled that son of mine!" Lady Lu sighed, picking up her chopsticks to offer a piece of meat to Meng Xi'er.

Lady Lu had two sons. Lu Yebai and Lu Qingchuan. The elder son managed the family business, while the younger one had no interest in business and had become a star instead, both of them were rebellious in their own ways.

Just as the two ladies were dining, the butler cheered from outside, "Madam, the eldest young master has returned!"

Before the words dropped, two figures stepped in from the outside.

Meng Xi'er raised her head only to spot the woman standing next to Lu Yebai, Yun Qiyan.

The Yun Qiyan she hadn't seen in five years had become even more beautiful. Her delicate, perfect face shone immaculately. Standing next to Lu Yebai, they looked like an exquisite pair, so beautiful it was breathtaking. Yun Qiyan, in a long white dress, gracefully held Lu Yebai's hand, surpassing the beauty Meng Xi'er remembered.

Meng Xi'er felt a bit dizzy. She heard a cold huff, and was about to avert her gaze, when she saw Lu Yebai, standing next to Yun Qiyan, glaring fiercely at her.

As if a basin of cold water was poured over her head, Meng Xi'er quickly looked away, not daring to take another glance at Yun Qiyan. Yet, deep down, her heart started to ache severely.

"Auntie Lu." Yun Qiyan, holding onto Lu Yebai's arm, confidently walked up to Lady Lu to greet her, "I brought Yebai back."

Lu Yebai, standing next to her, snorted softly but said nothing.

Everyone knew that the only person who could tame the wild horse that was Lu Yebai, was Yun Qiyan.

"You finally bothered to come home!" Lady Lu glared at Lu Yebai and then beckoned servants to serve chopsticks for him and Yun Qiyan, "You don't feel guilty leaving Xixi and me alone at home!"

"It's exactly because this woman is here that I don't bother to come home." Lu Yebai replied, his disdain evident.

"Who is this woman you speak of?" Lady Lu slapped the table, raising her voice in anger, "Lu Yebai, don't you dare show your displeasure at Xixi's return! Don't you forget, you two are engaged!"

Lu Yebai's face soured even further. He raised his head to look at Lady Lu coldly, "You actually plan to make me marry her?!"

"Don't you forget! Five years ago, the one who almost killed Qiyan with a car was her!"

"If she can hit Qiyan out of selfishness, who's to say she wouldn't hit me?!"

"Mom, you truly are my mother!" Lu Yebai let out a bitter laugh and with a "smack" sound, he slammed his chopsticks onto the table, engendering a loud "thud."

The whole dining room quieted down, the servants standing around, not daring to breathe.

Five years ago, because of her jealousy towards Yun Qiyan and Lu Yebai's relationship, Meng Xi'er had nearly killed Yun Qiyan while driving her BMW. It happened at school dismissal time, witnessed by countless people.

Although Meng Xi'er was charged with drunk driving, everyone who knew about their complicated relationship understood that it was an attempted murder.

In the end, Meng Xi'er was sentenced to jail, and Yun Qiyan ended up injured in the hospital.

Lu Yebai, gasping heavily, looked like he was at his wits' end. He glared harshly at Meng Xi'er, who sat next to Lady Lu, secretly loathing her audacity to appear before him.
