1 A Normal Day

It was in a dark cave, with a single ray of sunshine entering it through a crack, a young boy found himself holding a katana whose bright crimson colour reflected the light rays everywhere. He has black, wavy but yet short hair and sky blue eyes, and was just realising he was falling unconscious. But, as he was he heard a deep voice is his head.

"Guess I found my new toy".

A few days ago, in the city of life, Glenwich, Luck Quincey was on his way to high school.

Luck was a handsome young man dressed in his school uniform which was the regular white buttoned shirt , with a black tie and black trousers. He was wearing white shoes that almost look grey due to Luck having them since a long time. He noticed the never changing sky, trees next to the walkway, and that little sandwich shop right next to his school.

'It's just a normal day' he thought while slowly turning around the corner towards the entrance.

He was just about to enter the gate when he ran into Eric.

"Well look at you coming kinda early, so which girl is waiting huh?" Eric said with a huge smile.

Eric Kuro and Luck have been childhood friends since they were 4 years old. His slick blonde hair shines in contrast to his brown eyes but there was a small scar on his left eyebrow which always stood out because it was so distinct. He was around the same height as Luck only 2 inches shorter at 5 foot and 11 inches.

They have now been classmates for about three months in high school. Luck has been popular with his peers since he was young but he could only call a few of them friends and Eric is one of them.

"Dad woke me up early." Luck replied, "He had to leave for work earlier than usual so he made breakfast".

Luck suddenly started to feel down and Eric noticed that.

"Did your dad say anything yet?" he asked.

"Not yet so I'll ask him today, I need to know why" Luck said, "I am falling behind".

Eric gave him a pat on his back and said "Don't worry you'll work it out".

A small smile appeared on Luck's face as he was thinking 'How are you always so optimistic, it scares me'. Eric was in fact always like that ever since they were kids and even though he says he finds it scary, he felt a feeling of comfort whenever he tried to cheer him.

Luck looked up and he realised he reached his school. Luck attended Nirvana High School. The most prestigious school in the country for Spirit training and the Hunter specialist course.

The school was massive with multiple buildings each used for different purposes. All the buildings looked modern and picturesque. The Centre of the school was a garden where students just hang out and it looked magnificent with all the greenery.

Luck was walking toward the first building which had a huge sign reading 'SAISHO'. 'Saisho' was the term given to 1st years. He entered the corridor and greeted a few schoolmates and just when he was about to enter class he was interrupted by Ralph.

"Luck, will you be attending today's weapons class?" Ralph asked, "You still haven't come to class since the day you enrolled for it".

"Sorry Mr.King I can't be attending today as well, I still haven't received a weapon. I promise I'll be there as soon as I get one". Luck was caught off guard because he was avoiding him for a long time. Ralph was the teacher who taught students enrolled for weapons training. He was a humble man and everyone respected him for that. But, the real reason everyone respected him was because of his skill as a swordsman.

"I will give you a week to figure it out, but after that I can't be promising anything" he said gently.

"Thank you, I will be attending after a week sir" Luck said firmly.

After the regular classes were over Luck went to the weapons classroom and even though he couldn't train himself he always liked to see how training was going. Eric was practising with his daggers on the other side. He held a small dagger in each hand which were a shade of grey mixed with blue and the edges were jagged.

But still he was slicing targets one by one effortlessly. Everyone in school thought Eric was going to be a first class specialist and Luck was no exception. As he watching all this he felt a heavy feeling around his shoulders like something was holding him down.

'Why can't I do this?.' He asked himself.

He picked up his bag in a frenzy that he threw in a chair and starting to leave when he felt someone's hand on his shoulder.

"Will you not be coming in today either?" Rin asked.

Luck quickly turned around and laid his eyes on a girl just a few centimetres short of him with white and long hair with eyes the colour of an emerald. "Where are you off to in such a hurry?", she questioned him again.

Luck let out a nervous laugh replying "I can't come in today because I have an ummmm….".

His mind blacked out for a second. Rin Faye was the last person he wanted to see. She was his classmate and also someone who he could call his friend.

"Come on man, spit it out" she said as she made sure to be heard this time.

"I can't come today either" he said as he turned around to leave and muttered under his breath "or any day for that matter".

As he was walking away, Rin just stood there looking at him. "I'm tired of your stupid reasons" she shouted at him. He ignored her and continued walking even though he felt bad.

The reason Luck can't confess to anyone is because he didn't receive his spirit weapon yet because his father refuses to give it to him. Spirit weapons are crafted using the spirit energy of a baby once it is born and kept safe with the family until they turn 17. Luck was already 17 and has been for four months now. The type of weapon crafted depends upon the type of energy an individual contains.

Luck was never that interested in becoming a hunter but a few years ago his mother passed away and from that day onwards he promised he wouldn't let anyone ever get hurt again. Her final words were embedded into his heart.

"One day you will receive it but I hope that day never comes. But when that day comes, just know I always loved you and will continue to love you Luck" were the words she uttered with her final breath.

These words mocked him for years and when he asked his father about it, he always refused to talk about it to the point he stopped asking. Luck wanted to settle it once and for all with his father today after his talk with Ralph.

He walked onto his front porch and opened the door to his house. He entered the door and starting making his way to his fathers bedroom when he suddenly felt a puddle under his foot. He looked down and saw that he had just stepped into a pool of blood. With a horrific look on his face he looked across the hall and saw a man covered in blood lying down on the floor.

"DAD" Luck screamed at the top of his lungs.
