12 The Mating Bond

I don’t know when it started or how it came to be. But in a span of a few months; my life had changed completely. I never yearned for romance or adventure; I never dreamed of finding my soul mate. All I ever wanted was an ordinary life. But little did I know, that fate had other things in store for me.

Finding my predestined soulmate right in front of the person I loved; filled me with indescribable dejection. Most people would have been elated to find their soulmate, but instead of joy, all I felt was despair. Never did I ever imagine that I would be caught in such a predicament.

‘’How are you feeling?’’ dad asked, perturbed at my sorry state.

‘’I…’’ I wanted to reassure him. but, for the first time in my life, I was at a loss for words.

‘’Is it always like this? I never thought finding a mate would be such an agonizing process.’’Layla asked dad.

Dad replied, ‘’It isn’t.’’
