A Boy With Crystal Clear Eyes

"Good morning class! We have two new students joining us for the rest of the year. Junise, Jireh, please step out to the front." A slightly plump, jolly teacher announced.

A boy and girl from the corner seats immediately stood up and went to the front. The boy, Jireh smiled mischievously, his foot rapidly tapping as if he was thinking of an interesting plan.

The girl, Junise, on the other hand, looked down nervously. Her long fringe hid her face as she wrung her hands.

As the teacher, Mdm Lim introduced them, a certain student caught the eye of Jireh.

A few seats away, a boy with dark raven hair sat. His clear bright eyes, that seemed as if they could see into anyone, were framed with thick black spectacles.

Noticing that the new student was eyeing him, Jayden pushed up his spectacles, sitting up straighter as he stared back at Jireh.

Realising that Jayden had noticed his gaze, Jireh quickly looked away, quietly blushing. As his eyes scanned across the class, he missed a certain boy who was looking intently at him.

Isaac studied Jireh for a while. As he came from Korea, he was part of the 'foreigners' clique. As he examined Jireh, he silently praised him. Jireh had a bit of muscle. This was especially obvious when he moved his arms. Those eyes had a glint of devilishness behind rounded spectacles resting on his high nose.

As Jireh's mind continued to wander off, the teacher quickly ushered them back to their seats, Jireh soon realized how close his seat was to Jayden's.

"Well then. Class, I'm going out for a bit as there are still some preparations to be done. Please behave yourselves," Mdm Lim instructed before walking out of the classroom.

" New students! OMG!" a group of girls starting chattering amongst themselves and they scrutinised the new pupils.

Among them was Aaliya. Her long luscious brown hair cascaded gently down her shoulders, her warm hazel eyes always had a tinge of gentleness in them no matter who she was with, making everyone feel at ease around her.

Aaliya smiled gently as the girls around her gave their opinions about the new students.

" That new girl looks kind of ok. Should we invite her to join us for recess?"

" Nah, I don't like her vibe, "

Listening intently, Aaliya quietly tapped her fingers on the table. Immediately, all the girls quietened down, paying attention to her. She placed a finger over her lips, shushing them as she started to speak.

" I think, we should welcome her into the class and be nice. Kylie, that wasn't very nice of you to say that, we don't even know her yet, "

The girls paused for a second before nodding their heads in unison. In their eyes, Aaliya's words were the law. After all, she was their indisputable leader and queen bee.

" Ladies, excuse me, " a rough hand pushed through the girls.

A big burly boy sat in front of Aaliya. The girls around the both of them rolled their eyes. A look of annoyance shone through their eyes. This boy was Aaliya's boyfriend, Jaskereet. Secretly whispering to each other, they all agreed that he was totally not worth her time.

He was a big bully and didn't even look handsome. Many of them could not understand why Aaliya would want to date him. Even now, Aaliya's eyes brightened as Jaskereet came into view. The girls, however, disliked Jaskereet.

" Hi, Jas. How's working out been for you? " a brave girl questioned sarcastically.

Jaskereet whipped his head around, staring at her. His fists curled into balls of fury. As he raised his hand towards her, Aaliya quickly grabbed his fists with both her hands.

" Jas! Come on! You know Kylie's my best friend, " Aaliya's motherly voice flowed like honey.

As Jaskereet stared down Kylie, Aaliya heaved as she continued to hold him back. Compared to him, Aaliya was weaker and was straining herself by protecting Kylie.

Kylie snorted loudly, mocking Jaskereet. As Aaliya's best friend, she felt that Jaskereet was an asshole and it was her duty to get him far away from Aaliya. Her outspoken personality made her indignance show through even more.

" Kylie, can you apologise? You were wrong too, " Aaliya inhaled deeply, a little disappointed with Kylie.

Kylie smirked, " Why? Is it my fault that he can't control his temper? Let him come at me then! Then, we can all see how disruptive and violent he is!"

Angered by Kylie's words, Jaskereet pushed Aaliya's hands away, forcing her to finally release his hand. His hands gripped around a table, anger clouding his eyes. As Jaskereet raised the table over his head, ready to hurt Kylie, he heard a soft voice at the back of his mind.

" Can you put that down! Jas? You're scaring me! Jas!"

The voice had a tinge of disappointment mixed with fear, yet this voice sounded familiar to Jaskereet.

As his eyes focused back to the scene in front of him, he immediately dropped the table, rushing to her side.

There Aaliya was, her pale face stained by tears. Her usual warm eyes now held a sort of sadness in them. As Jaskereet approached her, her small palms, that he loved to envelop in his big ones, were shaking non-stop. She turned away from him, hiding her face from him.
