Usually a C - Class party would only take on 3 to 4 requests a week, but the Puppeteer's squad is one that works hard and well.
This is to obtain one of two things, one being more loot and funds, which is necessary for each of their growth. Second is notoriety. The more famous a person is the more likely for a title to arise.
Titles can be gained through achievements, achievements that a person is recognized for. Achievements that are permanently ingrained in a person's status screen.
These titles give a boon to those that have them.
A few of the members already have such a title, it is like a right for those in the upper echelons of C - Class to receive such a title.
Gollic due to his persistence and long stay as a veteran swordsman has gained the "Relentless" title. True to its name, when in combat, real combat unlike spars. He is capable of pushing himself to the limit even after suffering multiple injuries. Unrelenting in his attacks even if he is already meant to die.
Their paladin Vannifar has the "Crusader of Light" title which gives him a boon against the forces of darkness. He gained it through working as a paladin for the church for close to a decade. It also boosts his already powerful skills as a paladin.
These titles are mounds and levels apart from a simple "Bane" title, because a bane title is only effective against a certain kind of creature while these titles give them a general upgrade or a new ability all together.
Matthew's title would come a week before his projected creation of his second mana circle.
While the group is in the middle of exterminating a bunch of Groghabs.
Groghabs are the most disgusting C -Class monsters to deal with. They stay in groups of 5 to 8 and are a common threat in the swamps. They are 4 armed, morbidly obese frog-like creatures.
They come out once every few months to consume masses of lifeforms they then use the biomass to create more Groghabs.
The disgusting smell along with the sticky goo that they excreted made Matthew happy that he didn't need to get hands on with the task.

The root cause of his title is a simple one. Rumors and the use of a magical recording device.
A magical recording device caught a video of him during his evaluation. Now this alone would not be enough but the adventurer's association has made their own kind of television at the base. To sort of show off their talents that have passed the exams.
This in turn led to the rise in popularity of talented individuals like Matthew.
The recording of his C - Class test along with a mix of stories about his achievements.
This led to the creation of his epithet.
A title given to artists that are highly skilled.

"Holy water eh? Is our boss looking for another boneclaw?" Gollic has heard of the story before.
"We'll have a much easier time this time around if we have another go. We have Vannifar now." Rokhan patted the paladin's shoulder.
They all chuckled to themselves as they started the campfire. Stories were shared that night, a story that got a lot of mileage is of a time when Rokhan the warrior fought without his halberd, chucking barrels filled with holy water at an undead boss.
He reminded Matthew of an old game where a plumber had to dodge a larger amount of barrels. A peaceful time, before their group heads for the frontlines.
