35 Legion Commander

Title: The Virtuoso, Demon's Bane, Goblin's Bane. Legion Commander.

Matthew Khan, the Virtuoso is known mostly from this moniker. His other titles hold weight only due to the fact that they give him added benefits. This is true for both the Demon's Bane and the Goblin's Bane titles, given to those that have slaughtered enough of a certain species of monster. Most if not all of The Lieutenants under Matthew have the Demon's Bane title, they fought against an unending horde of them in the old world after all.

Among the new titles he had, his current favorite would have to be the [Legion Commander] title.

[Legion Commander]

You are an important figure who has led close to five thousand soldiers into battle. Recognized as a powerful leader, your mere presence evokes respect and awe. Soldiers under you are more likely to be inspired during battle.

At the cusp of reaching A - Class, Matthew led his troop of Knight and Rook puppets.

In front of him were the elites of the Lesser-Lich's army, giants made of bone and flesh. Abominations known as flesh golems, Skeleton Knights in dark armor as well as a few Boneclaws. Threats that Matthew haven't seen in a while.

He called his puppets back onto his inventory and pulled out two that only the original 500 can recognize.

"HOHO REJOICE BROTHERS! THE VIRTUOSO HAS BROUGHT THEM OUT!" A spellcaster called out.

"Our Victory is all but guaranteed! THE BLUE LIGHTNING OF NIKAOS HAS ARRIVED!" A spear wielding soldier pumped his fist up as he tore through the head of a skeleton.

Blue Tiger and Dark Queen were his first two original advanced puppets. The Blue tiger with its speed and overall strength was almost synonymous to the songs made about the puppeteer, while the Dark Queen was the upgraded version of Geppeto's Chess Set Queen puppet. With the abilities of all of the chess pieces and a needlessly large amount of power from its soul core, both puppets in tandem is what they refer to as "The heavy hitters."

"Rokhan, Malik. Status report, I want to get a clear path towards that undead spellcaster." Matthew was using a magical device to send his orders, like an earpiece on his right ear.

"I've wiped out a couple of thousand on the western front, I'll send Rokhan's clones and Lieutenant Danica to you Commander!" Malik replied. He had his fair share of monsters to deal with, as the army's strongest spellcaster.

"Good, I'll deal with their elites for now, I'll be waiting for your arrival."

The Boneclaw that he worked so hard to defeat before is a mere nuisance to his puppets now. Blue Tiger took a boneclaw down with ease, though its soul orb did not drop. 'Incomplete even as a Boneclaw... that's why they can have close to fifty of them.' Matthew noted.

Dark Queen pulled out its staff and began peppering the field with fire magic. Balls of fire were sent to the oncoming horde of skeletons. The path that the Virtuoso created would then be filled by soldiers of their own.

"Act as our commander's shield gentlemen! Don't let a single arrow near his being!" A soldier shouted out as they formed a semi-circle around him.

Rokhan's Clones and Danica along with their squads behind them charged face first into the enemy forces to reach the side of Matthew.

Bashing the skulls of the undead was something that the soldiers had to get used to quickly. A sort of stand still between the powerhouses has been reached and with their leaders occupying the Lich's attention, they had to endure as much as they could. Because for every lost soldier, an undead force from the opposing side would stand.

In a battle of attrition, those who are going against a necromancer are often on the losing end. Normally losing morale here would be common but due to both the Virtuoso's aura and the experience of these soldiers, only the newly indoctrinated would fall.

Riding atop a flesh golem is the Lesser-lich. Beside it are two elite looking skeleton knights with dark orbs floating around them. Skeleton Knights who have reached a higher level, said to be capable of using dark magic while also wielding the sword.

"We're almost there. Rokhan, take your clones and take care of the knights. Danica, I'll need you as my personal guard for the next few minutes... IT's time to bring that one out."

"Affirmative!" Rokhan stated as both clones rushed to the top of the golem. A group of spellcasters were tasked with putting up a barrier to block the punches that the flesh golem were sending towards them, but these barriers can only be directed upwards which is why all sides were being swarmed by more undead.

Matthew has an exorbitant amount of regular puppets, this was the minimum in his opinion if he wanted to lead an army. He lost hundreds of these regular puppets over months in the frontlines. Mostly due to who he was fighting, even the advanced puppets like Dark Queen and Blue Tiger would take punishment and need repairs for a few days.

Khan Series Model 3: Serpent

The third model in the virtuoso's original line of puppets is one that took elements from Mag's largest work being the Giganto Basilica taking in materials from creatures that can grow in size, Matthew took this aspect and created a snake-like puppet that even in its compact form is the size of a bus.

The serpent coiled around the flesh golem forcing it's arms to stay still. "It's immobilized, Fire off your strongest spells!" Matthew barked orders as he used his left hand to manipulate it.

On his right hand he commanded a total of four other puppets, Knight-puppets that charged towards the Lesser-lich. On his left hand he grappled with the flesh golem using the large body of his serpent puppet.

With the clones of Rokhan pushing back the skeleton knights the puppets managed to surround and subsequently release a series of slashes towards the lesser-lich. Their effectiveness was not the main reason why they were sent there, they were meant to be nuisances to lich's spellcasting making sure that its focus is challenged.
