Holding Out For A Hero - Part 1

Chapter 61 Holding Out For A Hero - Part 1

POV Third Person

On the main stage.

"I think I… I think I'm going to throw up." Toga mutters with a slightly green face, posing as Isamu and hanging in the air upside down at a great height before her cheeks bulge.

"Hold on a little longer, Isamu! Your big brother will rescue you!" Izuku shakily exclaimed, swallowing the fear that invaded his body and running with all his might in Child Emperor's direction with a determined look on his face.

Izuku's legs move on instinct, while his breathing is erratic at best, barely dodging the small explosions that impact around him. Small but controlled explosions fired from Child Emperor's mechanical combat wings, who seems to be having a lot of fun with all of this.

"We're finally reaching the climax!" Child Emperor exclaims with great enthusiasm, as numerous holographic screens surround him, allowing him to monitor the entire situation as if this was all just a video game.

"All the players of this wonderful and chaotic game are trying their best not to give up! Heroes and villains! Politicians and Civilians! Friends and Enemies! All of them fighting for their ideals to the rhythm of my heartbeat!" He exclaims, placing a hand on his chest and feeling his small heart beating furiously.

"So don't let me down now Izuku!" He exclaims with an intense glint in his eyes, as a crooked smile spreads behind his gas mask, watching Izuku intently getting closer and closer to him before increasing the firepower of his mechanical wings and laughing out loud.

At this, Child Emperor spreads his arms to his sides, while his intimidating mechanical wings covered in electricity resonate loudly behind him, causing cinematic explosions as if he were an angel... A fallen angel. "Muhahaha!"

While this was happening, one of the holographic screens around Child Emperor was playing a live broadcast of the Japanese Prime Minister. A transmission coming from the Tokyo Tower is being transmitted to the whole country and part of the world.

A carefully calculated transmission that would ultimately destroy trust in the current hero system, thus beginning one of Child Emperor's most twisted and complex plans.

"Recent events are a clear and compelling example of the many flaws in our current system... The Heroes Public Safety Commission has failed all of us." The Japanese Prime Minister announces in front of the cameras, holding and reading a document previously supplied by his head of security under orders from Hydra.

All this while Mr. Compress observes with fascination and intrigues the multiple giant screens that still work on top of some buildings transmitting the Prime Minister's speech. "Abracadabra." He mutters enigmatically, nimbly flying over the skies of the city of Tokyo with the help of his cloak transformed into a hang glider, while a pair of police helicopters try to chase him.

Meanwhile, in another location and locked in a dark meeting room, the members of the board of directors of the Hero Commission look uncertainly at the only electronic device that still works in the room. A small television screen tuned to the main news channels has been their only contact with the outside world after RedKing.Exe besieged and took control of the building with a powerful virus that is still taking effect.

"...Therefore, as of this moment, the president of the Heroes Commission is removed from her position with immediate effect while the pertinent investigations are carried out and a new person in charge is appointed." The Prime Minister announces, leaving all the members of the board of directors shocked and causing all eyes to focus on the one who was the president of the Hero Commission a few moments ago.

With a long helpless sigh, the now ex-president of the hero commission massages her forehead. "I'm afraid our concerns have come true...Hydra has infiltrated the government." She mutters, starting to feel a pounding headache from this whole disastrous situation at the same time that the faces of the board members turn pale. "God help us all." She whispers grimly, as the screen dimly lights up the dim meeting room.

Back on the main stage, an erratic Izuku continued to dodge the explosions as numerous memories flooded his mind. Memories of when he was diagnosed as quirkless and all the weight that entailed, but mostly happy memories thanks to his little brother. Memories that Izuku desperately clings to keep going and fulfill the promise he made to his little brother many years ago.

All this while Child Emperor's laughter resounded loudly throughout the place as the fire also spread to the surroundings and he listened with glee to the Prime Minister's speech through his headphones… Everything was going according to his plan.

"However, the Japanese government will not bow down to Hydra nor will we accept the intervention of other countries... Hydra is our problem and it is our responsibility as a country to take care of our own problems." The Prime Minister reads, unconsciously squeezing the document in his hands.

"Looks like your plan has just been flatly rejected, Cathleen." The President of the United States mutters, viewing a huge screen in the comfort of his office. Standing in front of him is Cathleen Bate, America's #1 Pro Heroine with a stunned look on her face contemplating the implications of this.

The message was clear to all world leaders... Any attempt to intervene in Japan could be considered an act of war.

"The Japanese people must stand together against adversity and trust in our brave heroes who are currently risking their lives for us." The Prime Minister says, swallowing a lump in his throat before continuing. "We cannot falter or fail…"

In a hospital room, David Shield watches the Prime Minister's speech on television not far from him before falling to his knees, clenching his fists as the guilt washes over him. "I'm sorry… I'm really sorry, but it was the only way… I hope one day you can forgive me, my friend." He whispers shakily, shedding a few tears as Toshinori Yagi's unconscious and injured body lies attached to several life support machines behind him.

"We must fight together against our true enemy, an evil organization led by the most dangerous villain to ever walk on Japanese soil... The Symbol of Chaos." The Prime Minister murmurs, as All For One watches the broadcast on its many screens, analyzing every message hidden between the lines.

He knows full well what Child Emperor is trying to do, a twisted game of power and manipulation on a grand scale... A game that goes beyond the quest for supremacy in the criminal underworld.

The Symbol of Evil contemplates the situation in silence, hiding his expression behind his life support mask, while the sound of his breathing grows more powerful and intimidating. Right after, a powerful dark force causes the place to shake slightly at the same time that the screens around him begin to burst into hundreds of pieces until finally, only one screen remained intact.

In another location, a riot officer hides inside a convenience store, trembling in fear next to a broken window as a television near him plays the Prime Minister's speech with heavy static. All this while the sound of powerful explosions made the place shake slightly at the same time that a twisted laugh resounded outside.

This riot officer was part of the group accompanying Lemillion and Suneater before Child Emperor descended from the heavens and panic spread among the riot officers accompanying the hero students.

This terrified riot officer, like many others who were present at the chilling events of the Furby Apocalypse, still carries the aftermath of the trauma caused by Child Emperor. So, clinging tightly to his police baton, he dares a quick peek outside through the shattered window, only to be frozen with fear and helplessness.

In the distance, Izuku fell to the ground due to the shock wave of an explosion that detonated not far from him before gritting his teeth and immediately getting up, thus resuming his run toward Child Emperor.

"We must fight on the beaches and docks, we must fight in the forests and fields. Our heroes will fight with ever greater confidence and determination against the dark forces of Hydra." The Prime Minister sighs before continuing. "We will fight in the schools of heroes…"

"Challenge accepted." Nezu hums, watching the broadcast with interest, while his tail wags back and forth with great enthusiasm. Nezu has waited his entire life for an opponent of his level and now that it has been revealed that Hydra's mastermind was Child Emperor all this time… Nezu has finally found the one.

"Huh? Aren't you afraid? The principals of the other hero schools must be trembling right now... Strangely though, my programming doesn't register any signs of fear in you." RedKing.exe asks with interest, trapped inside Nezu's tablet and being immobilized by numerous strings of binary codes.

"That's because I don't feel any fear. In fact, I would say that I am impatient. Also, no one will now oppose the implementation of laser beams in the restrooms and other improvements that were rejected in the past by teachers due to the unorthodox nature of those improvements."

Nezu muttered with an evil grin, thinking through all the improvements and implementations his twisted mind could devise to protect the U.A from Child Emperor's clutches. "I can't wait to defeat and catch Child Emperor!" He exclaims with great enthusiasm before starting to laugh out loud like a lunatic.

"Laugh as much as you want, after all…" RedKing.exe whispers sinisterly with a small evil smile on his face before his eyes flash menacingly. "You dirty rat mongrel! You will pay dearly for underestimating the power of…" He exclaims fervently before Nezu presses a button and mutes the device along with RedKing.exe's monologue.

"We will defend Japan… Whatever the cost!" The Prime Minister exclaims shakily, adjusting to the new reality of him being trapped in Hydra's clutches as a mere pawn in a twisted game of chess.

"I warned you not to vote for him." Mitsuki Bakugo growls, crossing her arms in disgust, as she watches the live broadcast in the living room of her apartment, biting her lip in concern.

"There are heroes and policemen roaming the neighborhood… The boys are sure to be fine." Masaru Bakugo whispers uncertainly, looking through the windows at some police cars driving through the neighborhood, while in the distance the smoke coming from the city can be seen.

Sitting next to Mitsuki is Inko Midoriya, holding a photograph tightly... A photograph where Izuku and Bakugo in their childhood happily play Heroes and Villains with little Isamu. "Please… Heroes… Keep our babies safe." She shakily whispers tearfully before being hugged comfortingly by Mitsuki.

Hidden from them, a micro spy camera was hidden next to the TV, specifically monitoring Inko Midoriya.

Meanwhile, many kilometers away, Child Emperor's twisted laughter faded completely, as he focused his attention on one of the holographic screens around him, not knowing exactly how to react.

Despite all the contingency plans, he was not prepared to see the person who raised him with true maternal love cry inconsolably... And even more, knowing that he was responsible for her pain. "Maybe I went a little too far today." He whispers, hating that strange feeling of guilt that squeezes his little heart.

At this, he clicks his tongue in frustration, vanishing all the holographic screens around him in one swift motion before extending his right hand forward and locking on the target through his gas mask visors. Playtime was over.

By now Izuku had already closed much of the distance between him and Child Emperor. Thus, a current of green electricity began to spread around his left arm, ignoring the fractured fingers of his right hand and preparing to perform a devastating close-range attack.

"I will keep my promise and protect my little brother!" Izuku exclaims at the top of his lungs with a shaky smile spreading across his face not caring about the damage this reckless attack could do to his body. Fortunately, Child Emperor intervened in time.

"Izuku Midoriya... Game over." Child Emperor whispers, clenching his fists tightly before a powerful explosion impacts the ground right in front of Izuku, taking him by surprise and preventing him from unleashing his self-destructive quirk.

As a result, Child Emperor immediately remotely monitors his older brother's vital signs thanks to the technology implemented inside his gas mask, while a thick fog began to rapidly cover the surroundings. All this while he continues to clench his fists unconsciously at the same time that different emotions spread throughout his body.

"Wow, that certainly didn't turn out as funny as I expected... Partly because of this stupid childish feeling." Child Emperor mutters, clutching his chest with his right hand before shaking his head. "But what's done is done." He snorts with a small evil smile.

He knows perfectly well that in this twisted game of his, there is no going back... So he suppresses the annoying feelings deep in his heart and prepares for what will come.

"START PHASE 2!"
