10 Reap

I feel really great, this power surging through me, it just screams to be let out!

The monster gets up on its four long limbs.

I charged at it with incredible speed, both my feet slicing chunks of dirt from the field as I step on them.

The monster lets out another screech, and charges to meet me with murderous intent.

I was faster so I sent an upward punch to its solar plexus, the strenght of my hit ripples throughout the monster's body, and continuously flow to the ground and every fiber of grass on the field.

The monster was sent flying to the audience seats breaking every piece of wood its body hits.

I jumped high and followed to finish it.

I firmly stretch my right foot towards my target like I'm going to stab it with my leg

I gain momentum and force as gravity pulls me towards the monster.

The monster couldn't get up in time, and my foot meet its head burying it further downward in the wooden seats.

"Not so strong now huh!" I spoke in a deep raspy voice.

Hina's mannerism kicks in again, and made me say something I wouldn't have thought of saying.

I instinctively grabbed the monster's arm and ripped it off effortlessly, however it instantly grew another.

"Hah?!-" My raspy voice echoed throughout the entire soccer field as I was bewildered by the monster's ability to regenerate within a millisecond.

Before I can even take in what happened the monster slashed at me with its newly grown limb and sent me flying back to the field.

𝘞𝘦 𝘤𝘢𝘯'𝘵 𝘱𝘶𝘳𝘨𝘦 𝘪𝘵, 𝘏𝘶𝘮𝘢𝘯!

I heard Hina's warning as I get up on my feet.

The monster launched in the air and prepared to attack me.

If we can't kill it then we would have to escape.

But If I just left this monster alone, others might be put in danger, just like how It almost killed me earlier.

I put my hands up and assumed a fighting stance, steeling my resolve to fight this abomination.

Before I can even attack, the monster was sliced in half while in the air, It was sliced by a head of a scythe attached to a long chain coming from our right.

The scythe plants its sharp end to the ground after it sliced through the monster's body without resistance.

In the blink of an eye the monster's remains disintegrated into dust.

I glanced at where the chain was coming from and I saw a tall slouching man holding the handle of the scythe and chain connecting its head.

His hair was white but his face looks like he's in his late twenties. He had a very pale complexion, and his dead blue eyes blankly stared at our way.

He was wearing a black unbuttoned suit, showing his wrinkly undershirt, and an untied necktie was wrapped around his neck.

"Who are you?" I asked in a brisk manner.

"You're the new guy, right?" He spoke in a tired voice.

"I asked you first."

He lets out a deep sigh.

"I'm a Reaper assigned here in Tokyo."

"And what the hell was that thing just now?" I pressed for more answer.

"That was a Demon, former Lost Soul until they turn after a month."

It seems Kaori really turned into a Demon before I could help her, I almost puked from the guilt creeping inside me.

But could there be a way I could've save her?

"It's surprising, how you used that power without knowing the consequences."

The end of the scythe's handle sucked in the chains slowly and connects its head, forming a seven feet long scythe. It was even taller than the wielder.

He rest the large scythe on his shoulder, his expression didn't show any hint of struggle from lifting the heavy scythe, just an uninterested demeanor.

"What are you saying?" I asked in confusion.

"Fusing with a Mystic Beast will let you use its power for roughly ten minutes, but in turn, they will take half your lifespan for themselves."

I didn't know if it was because of the horrifying truth he lay on me, or it was the fatigue catching up, but either way I fainted on the spot.

Everything faded to black.
