1 Operation x

It's morning…

Takashi Kato wake up and got off bed as soon as he heard is alarm going off.

"It's time. Today is the D-Day!", he thought.

Takashi went to wake up Naiko (his cat).

"Oi, you sleepy cat wake up!", he said.

"You bastard, how dare you wake me up, without giving me food?", the cat seemed mad.

"I mean today is a special day…"

"Are fish falling from the sky?"

"No."

"Then, is not a special day… Let me sleep."

"What if I give you food?"

"Then I can equate…"

"Okay, then. Come with me to the kitchen."

Takashi went to the kitchen, where is mom was making breakfast. It was Japanese rice, with Miso soup and Koji salmon.

All of them were delicious and hot.

"If I get to marry her… I would have food as good as this before going to work…", he thought loudly.

"Who are you going to marry Takashi?", asked the mom.

"Hmm, none, what are you talking about?"

"The weather is nice isn't it today?", Takashi was trying to get away from the subject.

"Okay, good then, I will go watch my morning dorama now, wanna come with me Naiko?"

Naiko felt pain coming to his brain.

"No, no I don't want to, but I can't speak.", he thought.

"Come, here Naiko.", Takashi's mom said, showing him some cat food.

"Hmm, agreable.", he thought.

"Meow…", he meowed in excitement.

Takashi finished eating and was about to go to school.

As he was getting his outdoor shoes, a burst of anxiety shivered through his spine.

"It's time, today is the day I will speak with her…", he thought.

He wears the outdoor shoes to go out.

"I'm going out, mom."

The cat comes back to Takashi.

"Kid, she can't hear you, but good luck today.", Naiko said.

"Turning emotional now, cat…"

"I'm not…"

"What the hell are you talking about…"

"Cats have no souls, we aren't affectionate with humans, we just like you because you give us food.", the cat said.

"Tsundere cat… What a weird type of trope is this…"

"Well, you humans have tsundere cat girls, so…", Naiko said.

"What, are you into cat girls, oh, oh…"

"I'm not…"

"Are you not supposed to get going to school now."

"Yeah, bye."

"Good luck with the doramas.", Takashi said, patting him in the head.

"Naiko, where did you went, come with me!", Takashi's mom was looking for the cat.

"Oh, oh…", the cat was getting ready to endure another dorama.

"Bye, have fun.", Takashi said.

"I will not «have fun»!", said Naiko.

"Bye, I guess."

Takashi looked at his phone.

He realized he had 15 minutes left.

And the train has already passed.

"AHHHHHHH! That cat!", he thought.

"Got to go in my bike, then.", he thought, getting the bike to get faster to school.

"Damn, I forgot, my bike is repairing!", he realized.

He went running to school.

The school was like 8 kilometers away from his home.

If he went running it was possible to get there in time.

He ran fiercely, across streets.

He finally got to school.

He looked to the clock.

He got in time.

"Sight, that was close…", he said.

"Good morning.", a girl in his right said.

"Do you need water?", the girl offered him.

"If you don't mind.", he said.

"Wait, if she drinks with this bottle it will be a indirect kiss…", he thought.

He looked into the right to get the water bottle.

It was her, Minoru Inoue, the girl whom he liked.

He had a burst of a excitement bursting through his spine.

"Kato-san?", she look into the dizzy face that Takashi was making.

"Uhh, uhh, don't mind me…"

"Thanks…", he said grabbing the bottle of water and sipping from it.

Minoru started laughing.

"What is it, is there something in my face?", Takashi said.

"No, not really, it's that your reaction was a little bit cute.", she said.

Takashi was confused.

That reaction was a little bit cute…

What words of malice were casted into his mind. Was she mocking him? ; Perhaps, was she being cute? ; Perhaps she also loved him…

The more Takashi thinked the more confused it was.

"To be honest, there is something I have to tell you…", Takashi said, making the whole atmosphere denser and dangerous.

"What is it, are you perhaps, about to confess to me?", she asked in a mocking tone.

Takashi had a burst of excitement through his spine.

But then, he realized if he was to tell her the truth it would be left in a tone joke, despite his feeling be true. This was not the time to do so.

"That's not it… Well, I am bad at maths", he said.

"I know that... ", she said, with a voice of subjugation.

"Well, I was hoping you could help me with it…", he said.

"Why would I…", she said.

Operation X comprised!

Takashi was in danger of it's whole mission failing.

It's whole plot was about to break due to an act that he wouldn't believe could be different.

"Yeah why would you…", he said, with a depressed tone, with a face of disappointment.

"I am joking… Well a good way of a learning is telling what you know to someone else. It's a good way to direction your knowledge to words and that way will be good to form true knowledge.", she said, with a logical and robot-like speech.

Takashi was confused, but happy that she was going to teach him…

The face of disappointment he made soon became a happy and a prosperous hope of it's dream coming true. And it wasn't to become better at maths.

"Thank you…", he said.

"Well I'm not doing because you asked me to… I'm just doing this because I know I will have a return…", she said.

"Tsundere.", Takashi thought.

"Even if it's not for me… You are doing a thing that will favour me, that should be appreciated, I guess…", he said.

"Okay sure, then, what about after school, in the library? It's always free and there is pure silence…", she said.

"Okay, then."

Excited, anxious, that breathtaking event was finally confirmed. Takashi was finally getting to know her better, he felt like he need to hurry now, hurry both to get to know her better, and hurry to get to classes because it was already time for the first class…

"Oh, dammit, gotta go!", he thought, after looking at the watch.

That certainly was a change of routines for him.

Instead of stalking her like he would normally do, he would actually had a chance to be with her…

The whole day, Takashi spent thinking about this final event that was about to happen.

The last class was over, he was on the same class of Minoru.

Minoru came to him.

"So, wanna come?", she asked.

"Like I would say no!", he thought.

"Yes."

The way to the library was a completely new experience for him.

Neither he once went to the library, nor he ever went with anyone, especially a girl.

He was nervous. His palms were sweaty, his legs heavy, and it's mind was filled with confusion.

"Relax, brain, I'm just going to study with a person that happens to be a girl.", he thought, looking like he was talking to it's brain.

"With a girl that JUST HAPPENS to be the one whom you like…", he thought.

They got to the library.

"So what exactly was the subject that you needed to study…", she asked.

"Maths, didn't I told you...", Takashi said.

"Okay, then.", she said, getting the maths book.

"Do this exercises, and then we will check each other's results."

He was hyped up to the math's exercises. What a rare event of a high school that was…

"Hmm, x squared minus 2x minus 2 equals to zero.", he thought.

"I'm pretty sure i will have to use the basic quadratic formula here…", he thought.

The exercises required a lot of concentration and intelligence, they were demanding, but he felt he was up to the task. Even though, Minoru was 10 times faster than him.

"That's why you are so slow…", she said to him.

"What?"

"See here…", she said, pointing at his notebook.

"You could actually save 3 or 4 steps if you haven't chosen that formula… If you use this formula it's way faster and less confusing…", she said.

"She's right…", he thought.

It was a busy evening for him, even though he was studying, somehow he didn't felt tired.

He could finally say that Operation x was over.

"No, it's not over, the final objective is now…", he thought.

Minoru was taking her books and pencils to the bag to go out.

Takashi grabbed it's phone, gather up motivation, and…

"Inoue-san, can-can-can I have y-your phone number?", he asked.

"So the objective was that…", she said with a slight grin on her face.

Takashi felt like she discovered his intentions.

He felt ashamed and embarrassment was strucking it's mind.

"I'm joking.", she added up.

"There you go this is my phone number, message me if you have any questions or something…", she said.

"This girl likes to trick me!!", he thought.

"Okay, then, bye!", he said, after registering the number on it's phone.

"Bye."

Takashi was happy.

Takashi felt like he proguessed.

He felt like a protagonist of a real romance, and he was the writer, the one who would chose his own plot. And all that was because of it's cat. Damn, it really does sound pathetic.

He got home.

Where his cat was lying on his bed.

"What's up, kid.", he said.

"Guess what?", Takashi said, with a slight tone of happiness.

"What? Are fish falling from the sky?", the cat asked, with a monotone voice.

"What are your obsession with fish..."

"My obsession, I mean they are pretty and they are yummy, there must be another reason…", the cat said.

"That reasoning…"

"As I was saying, I went with her to the library, studied with her, and got her phone number!", he said.

"Hmm, is that so…", the cat said, with a monotone voice.

"Can't you show at least a little bit of a fake happiness…", Takashi said.

"No."

"I will cut off yours snacks for the week.", Takashi said.

"Damn, you!"

"I am a cat if you look closer to my face I'm always smiling…", the cat said.

"Oh, it's true."

"Then, what I should I do?", Takashi asked.

"Call her out…"

"And then, you know…", the cat said.

"Are you dumb?"

"Of course that wouldn't work…", Takashi said, sighing.

"It works for me…"

"Humans are weird."

"Well, in Doramas usually now, the lovebirds usually go on a date.", the cat said.

"L-L-Loveb-birds!"

"D-D-D-D-D-Date!!!!!!!!!", Takashi said, with a face of embarrassment and happiness.

"What, did you became a stutterer suddenly?", the cat said.

"Hm, no?"

"It's just that…"

"You know…"

"It's the first time I will actually go out on a date.", he said.

"It's okay."

"I will be coming with you and watch you from afar."

"And I will advise you with a voice chat, which you'll be listening with a very subtle earphone."

"But only if you buy me this new snacks…", the cat said, showing him a new version of cat snacks that just released.

"I can settle for that…", Takashi said.

"Pleased to do business with you."

"Now I just need to talk with her.", Takashi said, getting his phone.

He wrote in the message:

I know it's a little sudden but wanna go out somewhere tomorrow.

She quickly replied.

So you wanna go out with me…

Takashi got embarrassed.

She sent another message.

I was joking, yeah sure why not…

But remember, it will be my first date, make sure to bring me to a good spot…

Takashi was happy.

A shivering feeling of anxiety and happiness was lingering on his spine.

"Cat, are you ready?", he said.

"It's not now…"

"But, yeah I am ready for you to buy the snacks."

"Sigh."

"What?"

"Nevermind.", Takashi said.
