20 Chapter 20 - Chen Ya Jing’s Past

When Li Tian returned to Chen Ya Jing's apartment, it was already 3 o'clock in the morning.

He stood outside and looked for a small river where he washed his hands clean and also wiped his face.

Now that he had calmed down, he began to feel slightly helpless about the events that had just occurred.

Naturally, he wouldn't feel guilty as he had already killed thousands of people, inclusive of both good and bad men. If he understood what 'guilt' was, he wouldn't have done this.

Li Tian wasn't the type of person to put on a facade for others. He knew inwardly that he wasn't a good person to begin with.

Upon returning to Chen Ya Jing's place, he realised that the house was exactly the same as when he had left. He was relieved that no one else had been there during the time he was gone.

The moment he entered, he realized that Chen Ya Jing was sitting on the sofa, and was now wide awake.

She remembered clearly about the events that had happened between her and Li Tian. Although she was now neatly dressed, their passionate time remained within her heart.

Initially, she had thought that Li Tian had secretly left the house. Despite feeling slightly disappointed, she thought that it was for the best, and that if she just pretended as if nothing ever had ever happened, they would continue to be friends.

However, she woke up only to see that Li Tian had come back.

Upon seeing each other, Chen Ya Jing was embarrassed, contrary to Li Tian, who seemed as if he didn't mind the awkwardness in the slightest.

"Uhh... I... I better leave now."

Upon finishing her sentence, Chen Ya Jing left the sofa as she held tightly onto the blanket.

In truth, she just wasn't brave enough to face Li Tian.

However, as she was preparing to close the door, Li Tian reached out with his hand.

"Ya Jing, I just met Ruan Yuan."

Li Tian learned of the man's name from the certificate he had looked at.

Chen Ya Jing froze upon hearing this name.

"How... How did you..."

"He was at the door, and I met him when he was trying to enter while you were asleep."

Li Tian didn't feel the need to lie or hide, he was just telling the truth.

As soon as she heard that Li Tian had met Ruan Yuan, Chen Ya Jing immediately asked, "Did he do anything to you? It's all my fault, I shouldn't have brought you here."

This was the first time that Chen Ya Jing had seen such a solemn expression on Li Tian's face, and hence, she was worried that he had been taken advantage of by Ruan Yuan.

However, she didn't expect Li Tian to laugh upon hearing her words.

"Ya Jing, can I ask you something? Are you more worried about me, or more worried about him?"

Chen Ya Jing felt even more embarrassed upon hearing Li Tian's shameless question.

However, as her relationship with Ruan Yuan changed, she had realised that she was subconsciously more attracted to Li Tian.

"Do you want to know what happened between him and I?"

After a brief moment of silence, Chen Ya Jing softly asked.

Roughly half an hour later, Li Tian and Chen Ya Jing were currently sitting by the edge of the bed. Li Tian finally learned about Chen Ya Jing and Ruan Yuan's relationship.

They were lovers, and they had started out just like any other typical relationship.

Ruan Yuan was handsome and strong, so he easily gained Chen Ya Jing's affection.

Chen Ya Jing was a city-girl, and since they were in love, the couple had moved in together.

Their first two months together went by smoothly, and although Chen Ya Jing felt that Ruan Yuan had disappeared quite frequently, she convinced herself that this was normal. Later, when Ruan Yuan accidentally revealed his identity as a member of a secret organization, Chen Ya Jing was finally able to understand his frequent disappearances.

However, two years ago, Ruan Yuan's temper had become increasingly weird. Whenever the two of them slept together, he would always bring up unreasonable demands. Although Chen Ya Jing had always considered herself to be quite open and modern, she couldn't accept his demands.

One of Ruan Yuan's most bizarre requests was when he had asked her if they could have a threesome together along with one of his colleagues.

Chen Ya Jing didn't believe that he would be so twisted. Ruan Yuan's only request was for her to sleep with him and his colleague for a night.

Although Chen Ya Jing wasn't a conservative woman, she would never let this kind of thing leak. Thus, she struggled internally, leading her to let her private matters affect her work for the first time.

She downed her alcohol one glass after another, and soon enough, she had become drunk. Under the influence of alcohol, she couldn't help but think about releasing her stress with Li Tian.

Upon hearing her story, Li Tian felt annoyed that he didn't think of searching Ruan Yuan's body before he left the scene. He wasn't sure if he could still retrieve the memory card even if he were to leave now.

Li Tian reached out with his hand to caress Chen Ya Jing silky hair. After recounting her story, Chen Ya Jing seemed to be even more miserable.

"Ya Jing, don't be sad. I promise you that Ruan Yuan won't ever threaten you again. I'll get the memory card back for you, okay?"

Li Tian wasn't a man who easily made promises. However, today, he had promised Chen Ya Jing despite the fact that he wasn't fully confident.

However, Li Tian's words didn't make Chen Ya Jing feel better. Instead, she just grinned and said, "There's no need, Ruan Yuan isn't someone you should get involved with. This time, my rashness has caused you trouble, let me handle this myself."

Ruan Yuan belonged to a part of the country's secret organization. An ordinary citizen like Li Tian was no match for him.

"Ya Jing, wait for me. I'll go look for the memory card now!"

Li Tian didn't give Chen Ya Jing an opportunity to refuse his help, and immediately dashed outside. Despite Chen Ya Jing's anxious calls, he didn't even look back once.
