2 Chapter 2 - I'm Honestly Here to Get Hired

"Hey… Do you know where I could find a job? I can't be doing construction work, right?" 

Li Tian wandered around the city of Jiangdu in the blazing heat of the sun.

He had seen a few places looking to hire people but most of them were for restaurant waiters, real-estate saleswomen, and some small companies who were looking for sales representatives. 

Unfortunately, these jobs weren't suitable for Li Tian.

Suddenly, he passed by a thirty-storey tall office building and spotted a recruitment poster. 

"Qing Cheng International Group? An assistant in the Public Relations department? Isn't that the department that usually has a lot of pretty girls? What!? They're looking for people who can speak French and German, and are also graduates from a famous university?"

Darn it, I didn't even go to university, where do I get myself a graduation certificate? Wait, I remember casually taking an MBA certificate during the time when I passed by Harvard. I don't know if it'll be useful, though.

Uhh, what was the code again? Z...Z339715…?

It was already 2 in the afternoon, and although Li Tian had been feeling slightly hungry, it was more bearable than the thought of confronting his ice cold wife at home.

He felt like going back to live with his aunt. However, if no one picked up, he wouldn't know how to find them, especially since Africa was extremely large. 

"Okay, this company looks suitable."

Li Tian thought, and immediately walked towards the entrance. 

Maybe it was because it was currently peak hour, but this place was packed with people rushing in and out. As the city girls passed by Li Tian, he thought that perhaps living in the big city wouldn't be so bad afterall. 

It was difficult to see even a single soul strolling about on the streets where he lived previously, much less girls who dressed well. 

"Excuse me, which floor is the Qing Cheng International Group on?

Li Tian asked two female employees who had been walking by.

Actually, the recruitment poster had clearly stated that the recruitment office was on the 13th floor, and that the Qing Cheng International Group had occupied three whole floors within the building.

The two employee's first impression of him was extremely unique. They seem to be in their mid-twenties, and giggled as they turned towards Li Tian.

"Mr. Handsome, are you joining the recruitment process?" 

"Yeah. Do the both of you also work for the Qing Cheng International Group?"

Li Tian guessed.

"Yeah! We're in the Public Relations department."

The more mature-looking of the two girls replied with a smile. 

These two female employees were extremely pretty, and didn't look down upon others. True elites don't judge a book by its cover.

Li Tian felt very comfortable talking to these two employees, and they readily showed him the way to the venue of the careers fair. 

As they conversed, Li Tian got to know their names. The more mature of the two was named Chen Ya Jing, and the one who seemed more shy was named Shu Qing Qing.

They were both ordinary employees of the Public Relations department. This company sure had standards for employing staff who were both elegant and sophisticated. Li Tian even wondered if beauties all around the country were like these two employees.

Whilst abroad, Li Tian had encountered a number of pretty girls, but the beauties at home gave off a distinct feeling. 

"Okay, we've got to go to work. Just wait here."

The two girls left after showing Li Tian the way to the careers fair.

Li Tian had only realised that the careers fair was held in a spacious hall, where many job seekers were already present and waiting.

"Hey, are you also interested in the Public Relations department?"

Suddenly, a man walked towards Li Tian and softly asked.

He had an average appearance, albeit slightly plump, but it was obvious to Li Tian that his clothes were all handmade through the way in which he was dressed. They seemed to cost no less than a hundred thousand dollars.

"Yeah, are you also here to attend the careers fair?"

Li Tian was a little curious. He must have come from a powerful family, why would he be interested in a minor assistant role?

"Haha, yeah. So, which girl do you have yours eyes on? I'm pretty familiar with this place so perhaps I can help you out."

"???"

The man's words caused Li Tian to become extremely confused.

"To be honest, I'm just here to get a job. I don't have my eyes on anyone."

"Oh, give me a break. Can't you see the crowd of people coming in today? All of them are from prestigious backgrounds, and they aren't here to work, they're here to find a girl from the Public Relations department to bring home. Throughout Jiang Du, the Qing Cheng International Group arguably has the highest quality girls. The girl I have my eyes on is the Public Relations department's deputy department head, Su Xiao Yue. Bro, don't be shy, just tell me who you're interested in?"

The man wore an understanding expression, causing Li Tian chuckle.

"I'm honestly here to get hired."

"Bro, I don't know what you mean. Don't worry though, there are so many girls in the Public Relations department, and odds are, we won't have to compete with each other so just tell me."

He still couldn't believe what Li Tian's words, and continued to stare at him blankly.

Li Tian didn't know whether to laugh or cry. There really wasn't anyone who was here to get hired. Hence, he was undoubtedly the odd one out and didn't know how to explain that he was really there to find a job.

"I'm not lying. I'm already married, and I'm just here just to get a job."

Li Tian explained once again, and this time, the man still didn't believe his ears. 

"You're joking, right? You're wearing a high-end Italian shirt, and you're saying that you're here to look for a job? Who's going to believe you? You wouldn't even be able to afford to buy this shirt even with one year's worth salary here."

"Uh..."

Li Tian finally understood why this man had thought that he was also here to find a girl. It turned out that it was due to the way he had been dressed. 

Indeed. He was wearing a handmade dress shirt that was worth more than ten thousand euros. Usually, few people would recognise the worth of his shirts but this time was different. 

"Okay, if you don't want to tell me, I won't force you. However, just know that I have my eyes on Su Xiao Yue so don't you dare..."

The man left soon after, continuing to strike up conversations with the other men attending the careers fair. It was as though he was looking out for any potential competition. On the other hand, Li Tian thought to himself, I'm honestly here to get hired.

After a short period, the female employees of Qing Cheng came out one by one. There were roughly five or six of them, and they all looked extremely elegant.

Upon laying his gaze on them, Li Tian believed the man's words, that almost all of Jiang Du's beauties had been gathered at Qing Cheng.

"Participants of the careers fair, please make your way here to collect your registration forms."

The charming lady at the front of the hall instructed. 

Suddenly, the crowd began to queue up to collect their forms.

Li Tian had also collected a form. Résumés weren't needed for some companies as the interested participants were only required to fill out the registration forms and include their personal details alongside a brief overview of their work experience.

Nonetheless, the following recruitment assessments were more important in comparison to these forms.

A few moments later, Li Tian had abruptly realised upon completing his form that the crowd was beginning to leave as soon as they had filled in their registration forms.

"Hey..."

Seeing that most people had already left the hall, Li Tian couldn't help but ask the guy who had struck up a conversation with him previously.

"We've done all that we can do other than the recruitment assessment. Since we've handed over our personal information, let's just go home and wait for the news."

Upon hearing his words, Li Tian thought to himself, "Wow, you rich people sure know how to play!"

Li Tian felt slightly awkward as he was left alone in the hall.

"Sir, is there anything I can help you with?"

The charming lady came over to ask.

She had known that the men who had come to the careers fair had ulterior motives, but why was this man still here?

The Qing Cheng International Group couldn't do much about the fact that everyone treated their careers fairs as blind dates. Hence, the management hadn't bothered to care about the careers fairs, as they would personally look for other ways to recruit new employees.

"Umm... I'm here for the careers fair and I'm really interested in joining your company."

Li Tian was one of the first to express interest in Qing Cheng's careers fairs. 

The female employee was stunned upon hearing Li Tian's answer.

"Are you saying that you're actually here for the careers fair?"

She couldn't believe her ears and asked.

"Yes. If there are any recruitment assessments for me, I'm prepared."

"Oh... Okay, give me a moment, I'll talk to the chief."

About half an hour later, another employee of Qing Cheng came to assess Li Tian.

Not only was this employee chic and stunning, she also possessed a great figure.

"Hello, I'm Su Xiao Yue. Are you interested in the assistant role of our Public Relations department?"

The employee asked as she carried a professional smile on her face.

Su Xiao Yue... This was the girl that the plump man from earlier had eyes on? As he was reminded of his own wife, Li Tian thought that getting this woman would be a difficult task for the plump man.

Li Tian had initially thought that his wife was the coldest woman he had ever met but Su Xiao Yue was comparable to her.

What kind of company is this?

"Yes, my name is Li Tian."

Li Tian introduced himself.

"Okay, let's begin the assessment. In regards to your French and German, I have two examination papers here for you to complete. Just so you are aware, the passing mark is only 60."

As Li Tian filled out the examination papers, a car passed through the entrance of the company.

A beautiful silhouette emerged from the car, and a worker immediately welcomed her with a parasol.

"President, you've arrived. I've heard that there was someone who applied for a role in the Public Relations department today, would you like to take a look?" 

"The Public Relations department? No thanks."

If Li Tian had been present to hear this familiar voice, he would've been shocked to the core. Wasn't this his wife? Her cold tone was extremely unique and to be honest, who else on Earth would have the same degree of coldness in their voice?
