10 Chapter 10 - Can't Catch Old Birds with Chaff

"Wow... Feels great..."

Li Tian and Lin Zheng were bathing in a spa, whilst a few workers were giving them a massage.

After they met up, Lin Zheng took Li Tian here for the sole purpose of relaxing.

"Xiao Tian, Xiao Yi is quite immature. I hope you can be more tolerant of her in the future. As her father, I'm thanking you in advance. What do you say?"

At this moment, Lin Zheng began to praise Li Tian in order to persuade him to go back.

"Actually, she's very mature. I'm the immature one."

Li Tian knew that Lin Zheng was saying that as a part of his strategy to make Li Tian go back to Lin Yi. However, Li Tian really thought that he wasn't fit to continue living there anymore, which was why he refrained from answering Lin Zheng's question.

"Xiao Tian, I understand... You're blaming me, aren't you?"

"No, I'm not. I certainly am not."

"Then why are you still angry at Xiao Yi? As her father, I'm personally apologizing on her behalf. Be the bigger person. Aside from her temper, Xiao Yi really isn't bad at all."

After a few conversations through the phone and today's talk, Lin Zheng had a grasp of Li Tian's personality.

He was the type of person who wouldn't act unreasonably, and was different from other rich heirs. This was why Lin Zheng dared to say these words to him.

"Not bad at all? Uncle Lin, I won't beat around the bush. Xiao Yi and I have been married for how long now, do you know? It's been three days, even excluding the first night we moved in together. However, do you know what kind of life I've been living for the past three days? I'm not asking for a lot, I'm not expecting two people who haven't known each other for long to have any skinship. I know that sort of thing requires patience. But, she wouldn't even let me hold her hands in front of the entire Li family that day! Do you know how I felt? Although I don't really have a status in the Li family, as a man, I was ridiculed by my younger relatives. Even my own wife looks down on me... Tell me, what kind of life is this?"

As Li Tian spoke, a few teardrops escaped the corners of his eyes. He really seemed as though he had suffered a lot.

"Oh... Xiao Yi's too much. Xiao Tian, you've been married for three days, but haven't yet shared a room?"

Lin Zheng was a bit surprised when he heard this from Li Tian, but he didn't have much to say much about Lin Yi.

"Share a room? I dare not wish for such luxury. I just want her to treat me better, and not be sour each time she sees me. If she wants to date other guys, don't do it in front of me. After all, I know I am redundant in the Li family..."

"Xiao Tian, don't say that again! I promise you that if Xiao Yi still treats you that way after you go back, I'll personally break her legs!"

Lin Zheng's expression darkened upon hearing Li Tian's words. This was a massive smack in the face for Lin Zheng.

Redundant in Li family? You're the heir! Even if you don't have any status, does it make sense for someone in the Li family to be redundant? If you're redudant, what does that make our Lin family?

"Don't bother, just forget it. After all, if the marriage ends now, your daughter wouldn't suffer any losses anyways. At most, it'd just be my stay at the villa for these past few days. If she wants me to pay her the rental fees, I'll give it to her after a month when I get my salary."

Li Tian appeared to be increasingly pitiful as he spoke. It was as if he had the words "Poor Me" painted on his face.

"Xiao Tian, you're making me feel shameful. However, what do you mean by salary?"

"What else? Your daughter's always irritated with me, and she feels that I'm wasting her food by staying at home. She lectured me when I asked her for some money to buy cigarettes. I needed some pocket money, which was why I had no choice but to go out and get a job."

"That's absurd! Absolutely ridiculous! Xiao Tian, take my card, the PIN is 666666. There's not much inside, only $500,000, but use it first. Next time, I'll transfer $1,000,000 every month for you to use as your allowance."

In actuality, Lin Zheng knew that the relationship between Lin Yi and Li Tian wasn't looking very good, but he didn't expect it to be this bad. Did Lin Yi really have to do this? Even if he wanted to get the most expensive cigarettes, Li Tian still wasn't even asking for much. If he wanted money, why didn't you just give it to him? As long as he was the Lin family's son-in-law and a part of Lin family, he'd bring in so much more money!

Staring at the card Lin Zheng handed over to him, Li Tian rejected his offer after hesitating for a period of time.

It wasn't that he didn't want it, but he was just too embarrassed to accept it.

"Uncle Lin, I have to work for it myself. Your daughter and I are over now, so I feel embarrassed to take your money."

"Who said so? Your marriage with Xiao Yi has already been registered. She's your wife! You've suffered for the past few days, but I promise you that it won't happen again in the future. Just go back tomorrow morning and live a happy life with Xiao Yi."

No matter what Li Tian said, Lin Zheng wasn't going to give up. Of course not, he was in the midst of discussing a huge business deal with the Li family. If he suceeded, he would earn almost a billion dollars every year. Lin Yi's company was only worth roughly one or two million, it was nothing compared to the Lin family's business.

After some time, the two of them went to receive foot treatments, before heading to the sauna. When it got late, they went to the guest rooms to rest.

When Li Tian woke up, Lin Zheng had already left. He looked at the time and realised that it was around 7 in the morning.

He sighed and thought to himself, you can't catch old birds with chaff. Lin Zheng didn't do much last night, but he had managed make Li Tian calm down. He also left quietly in the morning, so how could Li Tian not go back?

As he looked at the bank card in his hand, Li Tian was perplexed.

Lin Zheng sure was an experienced businessman. Of course, he had other motives for treating Li Tian so well.

He was only using Li Tian's identity as the Li family's heir, but that hadn't crossed Li Tian's mind at all.

However, Lin Zheng really handled the situation very well. He didn't give Li Tian any other benefits or orders, and just left by himself in the morning, as if he wanted to let Li Tian make up his own mind.

But, things had already escalated to such a stage, so what other choice did Li Tian have?

If Lin Yi had acted using his emotions and feelings, then Lin Zheng was on another level.

He possessed a company worth a few billions dollars, obviously he couldn't be a simple man.

"Go get breakfast! The girls at the office are still waiting for you!"

Li Tian quickly tidied up after himself and left.

With regards to going back to the villa or not, he decided to make that decision later. He just had to go buy the breakfast he had promised his colleagues and deliver it in time.

Li Tian knew that Jiangdu had some old restaurants as he had been roaming the area for a few days. Coincidentally, he had found a small alley.

That alley was filled with locals who came out to have breakfast, and the restaurants there had been operating for decades.

Li Tian had tried the food here and felt that it was quite delicious, so he decided to get breakfast from here.

Li Tian had an impressive memory. Although the PR department had over 20 girls who had ordered breakfast, he could remember each and every one of their orders.

He told the restaurant owner that he needed a cardboard box and began to order everything quickly.

Soy milk, fried dough fritters, dumplings...

The box now weighed almost 30kg. Li Tian carried the box as he hailed a cab and headed towards the office.

However, as soon as he'd arrived, he ran into Su Xiao Yue.

Su Xiao Yue was dressed in light pink officewear that day, which accentuated her figure. However, as soon as she spotted Li Tian, she exclaimed in a hurry, "Li Tian, quick, follow me. The president should be free now, follow me to meet her."
