1 1|| The Morning

"Beep...beep..."

The sound of my alarm startled me. I was in the middle of a good dream. I happened to bump into my soulmate and he fell instantly in love with me just as I had with him.

"Ugh...it's already 5:30 am?"

Of course, I knew that it wouldn't be possible for me to date my soulmate even if I were to meet him. I had my whole life devoted to one person at the moment.

This morning was just like every other morning. I got out of bed, sleepy eyed, and walked over to the bathroom. That was when I would take off my clothes, shower, and then brushed my teeth. It was the same routine every single day.

After I would get dressed, I would make some toast and walk out the front door with a purse in hand. Where do I go next? Take a wild guess.

If you thought work, well, you're wrong. I walk over to my neighbour's house.

"Man, I really need to clean out my bag. Too many junk in here. A-ha! Got it!" I took the key out of the purse.

Everyday I open up the front door to my neighbour's house and walk inside. I walked up the stairs and reached "his" bedroom.

After opening his door, I walked to his side. I lift up my right leg and take off my heel. I then stomp my right foot on the guy sleeping. "Daniel, wake up."

"Ah..." Daniel groaned.

This thing sleeping, a.k.a. Daniel, is my childhood friend. Why am I waking up this so-called human being? Well, he is my boss. I happen to work for this joke of a human being.

"What time is it?" Daniel looked at me with half opened eyes.

"It's 6:30. You have to be at the office by 7:00. You have an appointment with the smith family that came from Britain at 9:00 sharp." I explained his schedule.

"It's already that late?! Why didn't you wake me up sooner?!" Daniel jumped out of beed and headed straight for the shower.

Daniel's the son of billionaire Michael Cruz, CEO of Cruz Heights. He owns almost every hotel in New York City. Daniel, as the son, has to take over some of the burden from his dad, in other words, his dad is training him to take over the company in the future.

"Is my car waiting or me?" Daniel asked with his bathrobe on.

"Don't worry, Haynes was waiting for you a while ago." I reassured him.

"Man, I'm going to be late." Daniel finished up in the bathroom.

We both ran downstairs and out the front door. When we got into the car, Daniel began putting on his coat and tie.

"Eun, can you do my tie while I put on my coat?" Daniel asked.

"Sure."

One thing is for sure, though, about our relationship: This is all platonic.

"Good morning, Mr. Cruz." One worker greeted Daniel.

"Good morning, Ms. Sanchez." Daniel, looking like a professional, smiled back.

After arriving into Daniel's office, Daniel slouched into his chair and lays his feet on his desk. "God. Acting professional is so hard." Daniel sighed.

"Well, that's because you are an adult now and that's how society works." I explained as I walked over to the hot pot.

"Are you making coffee?" Daniel jolted uo from his seat.

"Yes, do you want some?"

"May I?"

"Yes, you may." I nodded my head as I grabbed out another cup from the cupboard.

"Do the Smiths like tea? You know, since they're from Britain." Daniel grinned.

I looked at him with a straight face. "They mentioned last time that they liked Yorkshire tea. I'll make sure to bring it."

I walked out the door keeping that straight face. I could hear Daniel running after me. "Wait! I'm sorry, Eun. I won't make that joke anymore." Daniel couldn't stop laughing.

After talking with the Smiths about the business, it was time for my lunch break.

"How's it going with Mr. Boss-man?" Sarah, secretary of the account section's boss, nudged me.

"Not great. Everyday I can feel a year of my life being taken off from my lifespan." I took a sip of my coffee.

"Really? But don't you feel refreshed by just looking at him? I mean, he's super hot!" Sarah fanned herself.

"If he were more competent, then I'd probably feel more refreshed." I sighed.

"Whatever. How about that blind date tonight? Is he still on?"

I felt myself begin to smile. It was true that I was excited about the blind date tonight. I could feel that he might be my soulmate. "Yeah. It's still going."

"Ooh, how exciting!" Sarah giggled. "I have a boyfriend at the moment and thigs aren't going well between us."

"Oh, I'm sorry."

"That's alright. Just focus on that date of yours. Don't worry about me." Sarah patted my shoulder. "You made sure to take your pills, right? You never know what's going to happen tonight."

"Come on, Sarah. I don't think that will happen. I mean, I don't even know what he looks like yet."

"I'm just saying, you never know. Hopefully he has protection on him."

"Whatever. My break is over now. I'll tell you what happens tomorrow."

"Okay. See you tomorrow."

"Hopefully this outfit's nice." I looked in the mirror. I didn't know what was good to wear since it has been a while since the last date I've been on.

"What would look good on a 24-year-old?" I asked Google.

The dresses on the image page looked nice, but all I had were business suits and casual home outfits.

"Well, that's great, huh?" I sighed.

I then decided to go with one of my secretary outfits and left the front door.

"Where are you going, Eun?" Daniel asked from his window.

"No where." I flinched and called the taxi.

Daniel was the lat person I wanted to tell that I was having a blind date to. Last time I did, he threw a fit, and I wasn't in the mood to deal with his fits.

"Where to?" The taxi driver asked.

"The opera house in Manhattan."
