prologue

{Hasty footsteps raced through a secret passageway without turning back. Their feet stepped on the ground with high momentum. They seize their movement on getting to the woods at the back of the pack's mansion while breathing heavily}

"I can't believe we are running away from those beasts like this…" a young man with raven dark hair voiced out in a very furious tone. Everyone has the same expression written on their faces. "Well… we have to." Another man in his mid 50's said with a deep voice as his blazing hawk eyes darted at everyone present while he clutched tightly onto his rifle.

A loud explosion made them snap their head around in shock and stare at the direction they ran out from. The whole pack including the mansion was raised down by the fire. They gasp in silence. While some of them held each other strongly in their hands. "Luther Pentagon!" The Man in his mid 50's called out the name of the youngster in front of him with authority. Getting back the attention of the others. Luther gazes directly into the eyes of the man hearing the strange tone in his voice.

"You will lead the pack from here!" the Man in his mid 50's declared with a firm voice. Making all eyes direct at him. "You are joking father. Right?" Luther asked his father, his voice filled with panic. The Man we came to know as his father didn't retort to answer him. And glance at the young man standing close to his son and continues. "Arther Steve, from now on you will follow my son as your new Alpha. And lead the Pack to Ox City." These words alone created another shock to his son who shook his head in disbelief. "Father!!"

No one said a word but watched the father and son in silence.

Arther was quick to recollect himself and bowed his head in respect. And nodded his head in understanding. He's not the type to talk much. "Good, you should leave this instance 'cause there's no time." the man ordered. "Yes, Alpha," Arther replied. Luther stares at his father in trance not moving from his spot.

"This is not time to wobble. Lead the pack to the city." His father repeated in a stern voice leaving him with no option. The sizzling sound that was coming from the explosion together with the crips' snip-snap whoosh of the roaring blaze as dying branches and twigs gasped for their last breath before tumbling into the ashes. Got their attention.

"Alpha, there's not much time left. They need to leave this minute."  Another man in the group urged with a loud voice. Taking another look at his son who hasn't bulged or made a move yet, the man bellows at his son, loud enough to shake trees in the wood. Not backing down as well, the son growls back at him making the land beneath them tremble. Everyone taking the cue hugs themselves supportively as they try to lay their hands on anything close to support their stance.

The man nods his head in satisfaction and steps toward his son and places his palm on the left side of his shoulder. His son stares at his father's proximity with his eyes full of doubts while his tensed muscles vibrate from his intense anger. "I trust you on this son. Believe me, you can do it." the Man said, his voice filled with confidence. While he repeatedly slaps his shoulder lightly.

"What about you Dad?" His son asked, with a broken voice as his tensed muscles relaxed a bit. The Man swallowed hard and glanced back at his wife who was standing by the side and had not said a word since the very beginning. She nods her head gently at her husband who slowly steps back from their son and positions his rifle in the direction of the enemy. "I'm sorry to spoil your moments but there's not much time left." The man from earlier reminded them as his green eyes glowed at the intrusion of the coming danger.

"We will be fine… but our priority as the head of the pack is to secure the pack. Now go…" the man's wife added with an adamant voice. Muffled cries of the young girl standing next to Arther reached their hearts. But there's not much time left to play the role of compassion. "Now, leave at once." The Man ordered for the last time.  Strange growls and loud groans echo from the distance without warning.

The Man and his wife position themselves with their subordinates in an attacking stance while facing the direction of the coming danger. Their son and the 'pack members' following the Man's orders took to their heels without looking back. Except for the young girl standing next to Arther who refused to leave with the others, screaming loud at top of her voice. Arther given the current situation on the ground hauled her up to his shoulder and moved with the others.

The Man and his wife turn around and glance at their children for the last time, hearing the heart-piercing screams of their youngest daughter. "Son…" they both called out to their son, dragging the words. Making their son stop on his track and glance back at them. He can see the obvious sad smile on his mother's face.

"Son, you always have to remember that we love you both. And always protect your sister." They snap their heads back to face their approaching enemy with meaningful smiles on their face. After they said their last words to their kids.

The Man glanced at his wife who was also staring at him, gave her a warm smile, and stretched out his palm for her to hold. His wife accepted his offer and placed her palm on his with a warm smile. Like they read each other's minds, they grab their guns and weapons together with their subordinates and rush towards the now-approaching Lycans who have found them. "Attack…" the Man commanded.
