"If we pile three third rank mages in one carriage, Enzo might get too cautious. We don't want that, don't we?" Ginevra added, folding her arms over her chest. "And remember what I said, and will keep saying. Enzo might have his shiny rank four Mark, and he might deserve it—barely. He didn't fight his own battles for years, but he has plenty of friends in the capital. He much prefers holding his court and watching people dance while he holds the strings."

Vittorio stood up, too. "You should believe in Cael, Father. He did so well before. Anything he took his mind on… Ever since that 'miraculous-slash-diabolic accident' happened." Vittorio frowned and threw Cael a look from the corner of his eye. "You always hold our hand, Father. But we aren't little children anymore."

Cael gave Vittorio a grateful smile, then turned to Gianni again. "Exactly, Father."
