16 Chapter 16: The New Job

---------- At The Bakery

Samantha had walked a distance from the apartment Tobias had dropped her by toward the quaint bakery settled between two larger, corporate-looking buildings.

On the outside, the pink and white colors of the exterior gave off homey and comforting feelings, in contrast to the tall imposing buildings on either side of it. Samantha took a deep breath in as she opened the door and stepped into the shop.

“Hello?” she called out. The interior was empty as far as she could tell. It was past breakfast time and relatively early for lunch, so she supposed that was the reason there were no customers.

From the double swinging doors that led to the back emerged a small, gray-haired woman. She was about a head shorter than Samantha, with big green eyes and dark skin.

“Hello ma’am,” Samantha greeted her kindly. “Are you the owner?”
