1 Unannounced Meeting

One day, that one who got away saw you in a cafe. Sat in front of you and smiled.
You stared at him for a while, confused. Thinking what that smile meant.


"I'm an architect now, certified." He said. While looking down at his cup of coffee.
"That's great. I am happy for you and of course, proud." You replied.


"How are you proud? How do you boast me to people?" He leaned forward while resting his head on his right hand.
"What do you mean?" You said while leaning a bit back.


"What do you tell people? That I liked you before? That we had something in the past?"
You stayed silent, as he was correct.


"You know what, you were the biggest mistake in my life.
I never should have wanted you, I never should have cared..."


Still, you stayed quiet.


"I am with someone new right now, I feel good. She makes me feel good about myself. She makes me feel that I am the greatest and that she's lucky she has me."


He leaned back, crossed his arms, smirking.


"Well, that hurt." You trying your best to say it without tearing up.
He just looked at you while you were staring down at your cup of tea.


"You were also the biggest mistake in my life."
He looked at you, annoyed.
"My biggest mistake... hurting you. I was too busy pleasing myself that someone actually had the guts to tell me straight that he likes me.
My biggest mistake, letting you go. Even when I knew that I am already in love with you."


You stood up, grabbed your bag and your cup of tea. Left him sitting alone, shocked.
He did not ask you to stay nor did you look back hoping that he will.
