1 The Summer In July

Now it can be hard. When you feel like your heart is a waste of space.

But yet you already know it's been beating inside you all your life. You tell yourself you're not going to fall in love again. But until one fated day where you Know your meeting the one. In Miami Florida It's exactly what 18 year old Anna did on a summer day in July. Anna saw her best friend Reggie standing there so clueless about where to go on the beach. she chuckled as she stood there watching. She thought herself "ha how can a man be so clueless." Although Reggie's been her best friend for years she never really saw him as anything more though. I mean it'd be wierd would'nt it? lost in her thoughts he then finally saw her looking that was when she felt embarrassed and blurted out "hey stupid over here." Reggie looked at her in confusion and smiled mischievously. As he did she rolled her eyes becuase she knew right away he was just messing around. The next day as Anna was getting ready for the beach and to see her best friend agian. But someone approached her. That person was her 6 year old little sister Jenna. She came rushing behind Anna's back towards her and said boo!" scaring her half to death she turned and gasped and when Anna finally realized that it was her. She turned to her and pointed to the door telling her to "get out!" in anger. So Jenna did but started to pout getting up from sitting on the edge of the bed where she had sat after scaring her big sister. Jenna slowly worked her way out the door. Anna put on the swim suit that she Was going to wear and then headed out the door for the beach. When she got to her destination Reggie was already there and when he saw her his face lit up and he waved for her to come on over. Anna smiled too and ran to him. After long hours of being in the water and watching him practice his surfing. It was already sunset so following thier plans Anna went to see a movie with Reggie. When they got to the movie theater Anna saw her Ex boyfriend right in the front line ahead of two people. Rolling her eyes she whispered to Reggie "let's get out of here." Reggie whispering back and saying "why we just got here?" Anna said with a concerned face and hid behind Reggie hiding her finger but also pointing at the man in the front of the line. Reggie grabbed her hand and it was so sudden that Anna's heart skipped a beat. while her eyes popped wide open in shock. Reggie then said to her "no worries I'll protect you." With those words Anna had no choice but to trust him as her heart started to race. Unknown to this feeling towards her best friend. Anna then told herself it was just her nerves after seeing her Ex boyfriend. The movie came to an end and so did the day and Reggie started to walk Anna home. The thoughts still with stuck her. Anna kept glancing at Reggie every once in a while. She just couldn't quite point out what the feeling was inside. She thought to herself that it's not love becuase if it was it'd make things weird between us right? Lost in thought agian Reggie said "can you hear me?" Anna then came to her senses and out of embarrassment she told him yes. Reggie smiled as he scoffed and said right. Reggie had gotten to the house and escorted Anna to the front door of her house. Smiling yet once again Reggie said goodnight. Anna said to him goodnight too and walked into the home which she and her little sister had lived in. where thier mother is on a business trip. Anna and jenna didn't mind it though. It was near midnight when a storm hit. Jenna was wide awake and then after the lighting hit near the tree next to her window. She jumped out of her bed and ran to Anna's room. Still scared she jumped into Anna's bed. Anna woke up in surprise and hugged her sister Jenna telling her it's alright. Anna wanted to cry because she knew that jenna needed a mom. So she did what she could that night. As the morning came so did a knock on thier door. Rubbing her eyes trying to wake. Anna slowly crept her way out of the bed where Jenna was sleeping soundly still. As Anna started to put on better clothes she walked towards the door and she asked who it was. The person at the door had then said it's Reggie so Anna open up. As Anna looked through the peep whole and started to tease Reggie by saying would you say please? Reggie laughed and played along and said please..along with saying it back with a silly grin on his face. Chuckling Anna opened the door with excitement. Reggie came in and said I have good news though. Anna egging him on by said and "so what is it?" Reggie said I got the scholarship at New York University!.. but I leave tomorrow Shocked in disbelief Anna said "really!? thats great I'm happy for you!" Saying those words Anna actually wasn't too excited for some reason she thought "why am I not that happy? she looked down in her thoughts. Reggie asked what's the matter and Anna then shook her head and said nothing. Reggie nodded becuase he believed her. So Anna then saw in the back of Reggie and in the door way was Jenna. She looked as if she was going to cry instead she ran back into the room. Anna knew then that Jenna didn't want him to go. She then realized with a deep sigh too. That she doesn't want Reggie to go either. So she gathered the courage. She then looked at Reggie and said Reggie williams "I love you."
