1 Cemetery Road

"Miss " .

"One"

"Miss" .

"Two"

"Umm miss!"

"Three". Yuvi kept counting the short white paintings on the road wondering where the black paintings went .Totally oblivious to the voice of the bus driver.

"Umm..hello miss!!" the bus driver said and touched her shoulders making her jolt and look at him.

"Am sorry for startling you but we are here, cemetery road, you told me that this is your destination but I have been trying to get your attention for a while" he said while giving her an apologetic look.

"Oh thank you and sorry for keeping you waiting Sir" .Yuvi said while getting her pocket size purse from the seat and going down the bus. That was probably the most words she had said for the past three days after what happened.

She looked left, right and left again for any coming cars before crossing the road and heading for the graveyard.

She had a lot of unanswered questions that she wanted to ask the person she was there to visit. But as the saying goes " Dead men tell no tales " so no matter what that person won't answer her.

But she always asked the questions anyways.

"Why did you leave me Didi?,what happened that night?,who murdered you?

"Give me answers please Didi" Yuvi said as she sobbed silently infront of her Bestfriend's tombstone. It happened just three days ago and the wound is still fresh for Yuvi. She doesn't understand anything. Still feels like it's all a dream that she is finding very hard to wake up from.

Her bestfriend, Didi Asamoah Quaino, dead and gone at the age of 20.If someone told her that DD would die on the eve of her twentieth birthday she would have killed that person instead.

But it happened. She woke up one fine Tuesday morning and was preparing to go for her usual morning run when her mom walked up to her with a sullen face and eyes filled with sadness as she looked at her. She asked Yuvi to go with her to her room before breaking the news to her.

At first she thought her mom was just joking or was playing an April fool prank on her since it was the month of April so she laughed it off and stood up to go,but the look her mom gave her told her otherwise.

She turned sharp on her heels and dashed for the double door of their house and run straight to Dd's house since it four blocks from hers.

When she got there she couldn't breathe because of what she saw. Her eyes turned watery, her long white hair which she inherited from her dad stuck to beautiful face because of the sweat, her whole body shook, her chest tightened but she still couldn't let out a single scream.Even the tears abandoned her eyes and refused to fall.

There on Didi's bed was her dead body .Beautiful as always. Her fair skin had some blueish bruises on it,her cheeks swollen, her feet was also bruised and had a lot of blisters. Even in death and with a somewhat bruised body,Didi still managed to shame some women with her natural beauty. Yuvi stood rooted to her spot infront of the bed.She knew not when she entered the house nor how she came to her friend's room. But there she was, void of tears, looking at her beloved Dd. Because Dd's dad was a Muslim he insisted she be buried the Muslim style. Thus early that morning, still clad in her running outfit,Yuvi followed to the cemetery and watched as her friend was made one with the earth without a word.

The memories came gushing into her brain.
