Mr. CEO Carries My Bag

"Marie's daughter? What do you mean? Are you confusing Evelyn with someone else? She is my and my wife's daughter."

Marie? Was that her birth mother's name? Evelyn looked at Chairman Parker with anticipation and curiosity in her eyes. She wanted to know more of the woman who gave birth to her.

"I am not here to play games. I am here to take Marie's daughter back. She shouldn't stay in this filthy family anymore."

Take her away?

"Evelyn, I am sorry for being late. Won't you go with me?"

Evelyn wanted to.

For the first time, someone was so warm with her, and she wanted to follow along. Also there was Landon who came with Chairman Parker. Of course, she knew that the rest wouldn't spare her once they left and she was here all alone.

"I respect you, Chairman Parker, but you are going too far. Evelyn is going nowhere. She is my daughter. I can take care of her, and if you are going to force it, I will have to involve the legal department."

The old man's expression changed to become more enraged, and he slammed his hand on the table. The darkened expression on his face, filled with oppressive momentum, made her father flinch.

"Just like how you took care of Marie? I don't mind airing your dirty laundry for the public to mock at. Remember that I still haven't gotten back at you for how you treated Marie!"

With that, her father was at loss of words. He knew the power of the man before him well, and compared to him, Caspian was helpless.

"What about the cooperation?"

The Chairman scoffed.

"I was going to repay you for taking care of Evelyn but seems like you have done a disappointing job on that."

Then, shifting his gaze towards Evelyn, his tone became softer, and he said, "Evelyn Dear, go and pack up, alright?"

Was it foolish of her to trust this man she hardly knew? Incredibly. But she was tired of staying in this mansion and enduring the tortures. Yesterday, she was scalded due to Annalise, and given her temper, after being insulted in this manner, Evelyn shuddered at the thought of what Annalise might do to her.

She didn't want to stay here.

Evelyn lowered her head and nodded her head.

Following that, she headed to her room and did the packing up. Since most of her things were at her apartment, she didn't have much to pack. She grabbed a bag and placed the little supplies she had.

After that, she carried the bag and was about to walk away when she noticed Annalise standing at the door. This made her subconsciously take a step back while staring at the teenager with terror filled eyes.

Annalise made way over to him and placed her hand on Evelyn's shoulder, making her stiffen. Then, a menacing grin appeared on her face as Annalise voiced out, "You don't think you are free, right?"

Evelyn clenched her hand into a tight fist. She felt exhausted. She wanted to scream at Annalise. Why was she doing this to her? Why can't she just leave her alone? What did Evelyn did so wrong to be tortured in this manner?

In the end, she was a coward. She didn't the courage to let those words out of her mouth.

Annalise only laughed at her reaction before letting go of Evelyn and let go of her. Although Evelyn knew that it was pathetic, she hurriedly scurried away from there.

After that, her path was stopped by Janice Stone, who looked at Evelyn in displeasure.

"Don't forget who you should be grateful to, and don't run your mouth too much. No one likes noisy person."

Janice didn't hide her dislike for Evelyn. Unlike Annalise, she didn't attack Evelyn in a straightforward manner. She went for indirect methods that one couldn't easily relate to her.

When Evelyn was locked in a closet and went without food for two days, the maid took the blame for it. Of course, Evelyn was scolded for being careless. It was the same when she returned home late during middle school, and the doors of the mansion were closed no matter how much she knocked.

That's why, she spent many nights wandering off in the snow, hoping that she would be able to open her eyes the next day.

That was one of the reasons Evelyn preferred to move out of the mansion.

These were the mild ones. There were even more vicious things the woman did to her. That's why, she had a hard time looking at her.

Evelyn nodded in a subservient manner before leaving.

"Give it to me."

Hearing Landon's voice made Evelyn stare at him in surprise. What should she give to him?

"The bag," he pointed out.

Although she was happy at his offer, she couldn't trouble him.

"It's not heavy. I can carry it."

Evelyn showed him a smile.

He proceeded to say nothing more before extending his hand and grabbing the bag from her shoulders. This got her heart to skip.

They are really grandfather and grandchild! Both of them are nice!
