5 Another day working for the Devil

"Yes. Park Daisuke would." I press my palms together. "He can pretty much do whatever he likes at Sunnies Reach, so don't tell him," I plead.

"Fine, I won't tell him. How about I get this replaced for you, so Daisuke doesn't fire your ass." He pats my head and strides off to the elevator. Waving back at me as the doors shut behind him.

Mum and dad in heaven must be watching over me because they sent someone to save me from the babyfaced devil.

----------

I walk back and forth. It has been several minutes since the angel-driver walked into the elevator with Park Daisuke's shoes. What is taking him so long? What if he stole it? I won't only get fired; I would be held responsible for someone else's theft. I run my hands through my dry ponytail, loosening my tight hairband, so my hair falls freely. Think about it Mizuki; You need to be logical. If he indeed stole Park Daisuke's shoes, he would need to exit through the lobby doors, and there was no way he could slip pass you.

The elevator doors ding open, and my angel-driver emerges. Waving back at me and pointing at what seems to be the new shoes. I rush towards the driver, and I can't help but squeal in excitement and joy.

"They look identical, right?" he beams at his accomplishment.

"They look the same. It's a miracle. I won't lose my job," I embrace the driver. "Thank you, Park Daisuke's driver. Thank you so much," he pulls away to stare at me.

"Hey! I'm not called 'Park Daisuke's driver' my name is-"

"Lee Eiichi. I've been calling you for 15 minutes now. My stupid subordinate ruined my shoes, and I couldn't find her anywhere. We need to leave right now." Park Daisuke appears from thin air and walks up to us, complaining about a stupid subordinate that happens to be me.

"You are here? Why are you here?" He points at me pauses then looks up at Lee Eiichi. "Why are you with her?" his expression is as stale as always.

"Don't you have something for your favourite manager?" Lee Eiichi pats my shoulders while he laughs.

"Your shoes, I fixed them. I mean, I got you new ones." I present his new shoes to a very impressed Park Daisuke. He looked so shocked like he didn't expect me to succeed.

"Whatever. Take it back to my office." He waves me off.

"But you said you needed them by 12:15 PM." My voice rose. He had to be kidding me, I was losing my mind fretting over his stupid shoes, and he didn't even need them.

"I had a spare, so keep them in my office. Do you need hearing aids?" He stared daggers back at me.

"Sorry, I must have left my hearing aids at home. But I'm sure you said you would fire me if I didn't get you the shoes, here they are" I stretched them back to him. Lee Eiichi chuckled in the background.

"What am I supposed to do with them? Eat them? I already have shoes on. Can't you see?" He points at his feet.

"I normally wear glasses, so forgive me if I can't see," I smirk back. Lee Eiichi was now shamelessly giggling.

"You have to be kidding me. I'm already wearing shoes. Ho Mizuki, don't you have work to do?" He smacked the back of his right hand into his left palm as he said the word "work."

"I have work to do, but you made me run around trying to fix your shoes. Now you don't need it. You even threatened to fire me." And as soon I shouted back at him, I immediately regretted it. It did feel good to speak my mind for once.

"I'm sorry..."

"If you don't like me, there's the door," he points at the glass exit. If only I could toss his pudgy face out that very door.

"Why don't we all calm down, there is a crowd gathering." Lee Eiichi chimed in, trying to break the tension.

"I'm late. Eiichi, get the damn car." Park Daisuke strutted past the onlooking employees and out the giant glass doors.

"Ho Mizuki, are you ok? Are you crying?" Lee Eiichi patted my head consolingly.

"CRY? Why would I cry for that insufferable, skinny-legged, no-good, babyfaced devil." I yell in his face. "If he doesn't want his shoes, fine. I am going to toss them into the trash. Who does he even think he is? Do I look like his dog?" My shriek chases away the onlooking employees.

"With your hair like this, you just might be one." Lee Eiichi patted my head again.

"I'm not a dog, stop patting my head. It's rude." I push his hands off.

"Ah! You look like my pomeranian." He ruffles my already wild hair.

"Stop it, Lee Eiichi." I fight his hands off my head. "I'm not a pomeranian, and I'm angry right now."

"But if I hold your hair like two dog ears, you look just like her. I'll call you Cha-cha," he smiles softly while holding my hair in two pigtails.

"Cha-cha?" I swat his hands away.

"Cha! Cha! It's the bark she makes when she sees me. It's so cute because she is so tiny" He pats my head again. "When you get angry, you sound just like her. Cha-Cha"

"My name is Ho Mizuki. Ho. Mizuki. Not Cha-cha."

"I'll see you Cha-cha, I have to go. We don't want the babyfaced devil to return and kill us both." He smirks and walks off.

"My name is Ho Mizuki. I am not Cha-cha." He waves at me as he walks off and out the door. I look down at the shoes in my hands even if I wanted to toss them into the trash; I couldn't. Lee Eiichi had gone through the trouble of getting them for me.

After dropping Park Diasukes shoes off in his office, I settled back at my desk to begin working on my assignments for the day. With all my piled up work, I was going to be here for a long time. The rest of my colleges stared at me with suspicion and pity as they passed my cubicle.

"Uh-hum..." Manicured fingers tap at my desk. So I look up only to see Seol Soomin's pretty yet punchable face glaring back at me.

"What do you have left to complete?" Seol Soomin sighed. She never pretended to like me or others she thought were below her (and to Seol Soomin everyone was below her.)

"I'm still working on the heuristic evaluation for the app's home page," I responded, watching her eyes dilate in anger.

"Are you kidding me, you are still on the home page. This application is due by the end of the week, and you are still doing the heuristic evaluation for one page" She slammed her hands on my desk.

"I spent all my time working on the website design instead of doing the mobile application evaluation. I also had some tests to carry out for each website page. I would have been faster if you assisted me." After all, it was her freaking job anyways. The website, the testings, were all her assignments. I was only supposed to work on the heuristic evaluations for the app, but Seol Soomin delegated 85% of her workload to me. Now not only would I get in trouble for failing to do my actual tasks, but Seol Soomin would also get praised for all the work I did. But I had gotten used to it; this was how things worked around here. The devil and his henchmen triumphed while they treated the rest of us as servants.

It was just another day as Park Daisuke's subordinate.
