"Go,' he said, "and don't give me that look.'

"I shan't,' she said, and gave him a kiss on the cheek instead and then headed inside.

"Sorry about that.' Kylie smiled at Alora's very offended mum. "That was a colleague from work and he'd just had some difficult news.'

Alora's parents were already putting on their coats. Kylie soon understood that possibly it wasn't because she'd caused offence that they practically ran out of the house.
