Eli kept his grip on Vivienne s elbow as they followed Jace along the wooden path from the helicopter landing. When Jace turned off towards his barracks, carrying the female Lycan with him, Vivienne protested, pulling against Eli s grip, and looking up at him when he did not release her.

"She needs medical care, Eli," she told him. "And we need to do that thing with the tracker in her in order to find the other women…"

"Jace will take care of her," Eli replied without looking down at her, and Vivienne felt a pinch around her heart. After she had blurted her pregnancy out his expression had blanked, and she had feared that he hadn t understood what she meant.

"A baby," she had explained. "I am going to have a cub. Your cub."
