Don’t say goodbye

We ran as fast as we could through the dimly lit forest, my breath coming in quickly gasps as sweat ran down my exhausted body, my legs trembling with each step as my feet sank into the soft soil of the forest floor.

"Just a little further little one keep going." The male said as his blood dripped down his battered body from wounds that had reopened.

I could only nod as I had to focus everything just to keep putting one foot in front of the other. I could hear the voices and dogs getting closer but the trees had started to thin so I knew we were almost there.

So I searched deep within myself for a last burst of energy to make it into the clearing. As we burst through the tree line we could see it, a dark metallic oblong ship floated 3 feet off of the ground with a ramp leading up to an open door as 2 males waited for us.

We were half way there when the men behind us came through the trees, guns tracking us as we ran and I couldn't help but look back.

When I saw the red eyes of the leader of the military group I knew he was going to shoot.

Meykelic was two steps in front of me now so I used the very last of my strength and dove at him nocking him forward faster but it wasn't enough. The shot rang out as we landed at the bottom of the ramp the second shot bouncing off the force field of the ship.

Meykelic got up and I tried to do the same but I couldn't move, slowly I looked down to see a red stain of blood spreading on my chest, with each fast beat of my heart I could feel my life fading away.

"Noooo no no don don don't sye goo bye!" Meykelic pleads as he picks me up and runs into the ship. He just kept repeating the sentence over and over in his broken human speech "Don't say goodbye." The last thing I saw were his desperate eyes, then I knew no more.
