11 Chapter 11

The first thing that pops up says: You are beginning to have feelings for someone in a romantic way. Feelings? In a romantic way? Pffft. Pah-lease, I would never like Landon that way. I scrolled down to see what else I could find. The feeling of being in love with someone. Blah blah blah, they all pretty much mean the same thing. So does this mean I— Get a hold of yourself Angela. I slapped my cheeks. You can't always believe what the internet says, right? I turned off my phone and set it aside. I stared at the old wooden ceiling for what seemed like hours, wondering. Suddenly I hear the doorbell ring. The sound was not like your normal ding dong, it was more like a song or a tune that played from a high note to low and then low to high. Wait. Why am I more focused on the sound? I should be worried about who it is! I got off from the bed and made my way to the door, but Landon got to it before I did. It appeared to be an old couple. I stood away from the door in a way the visitors couldn't see me. I listened closely. But the visitors entered the house, and looked at me. In that instant I recognized them. "Angela, these are my parents," Landon said. "It is so good to see you, lady Angela," the woman said. I smiled and waved to them, "Thank goodness you guys were able to make it. I thought it was gonna take weeks!". They chuckled, "How could we be gone for so long? And how can we leave you kids here all alone?" Said the man. The way he said it, "all alone" made my face feel hot suddenly. "Well we're gonna go put our bags away" the lady said and went through another room as her husband followed her. "Angela, can you make sure the food doesn't burn?" Landon asked. "I thought you didn't want my help", I pouted. "Ok, fine. You can help. But only with this, ok?" He said, "I'm going to help them put their stuff away". "Ok". I made my way to the kitchen and noticed there was a pot of soup boiling. In which the kitchen smelled so delicious. I stared at the soup, but how do I know if the soup is burning? I stood there, completely clueless. Let's just hope that it doesn't, heh. I watched the soup boil, and observed the vegetables floating and swimming from side to side. A couple minutes later Landon and his parents entered the kitchen lively. "Oh come on son, we're not that old. We still have some tight screws to loosen up" Landon's father said as his mother chuckled. "I'll set the table," the woman said as she opened the cupboards in search of the plates. Landon stirred the soup and nodded, "Okay, Dad, do you mind if you can make the dessert? I have the ingredients in the bags and some I put away in the fridge". "Of course son, I am the best baker in this family!". "Can't say that isn't true," Landon replied. At that moment I began to feel odd and I suddenly remembered one day in the garden I went near the pond to look at my reflection, but I saw many white fish instead, swimming around. And one black fish just "stood" there, but yet it's not dead. Yes, that's it. I feel exactly like that black fish... After another half hour, the food was finished. Landon's mom led me to the dining room and asked me to sit down. And then Landon and his dad came over to bring the food. Well this feels a lot different. "Dinner is served," Landon said.  "Dig in," the woman said. I took a fork and began to scoop up the noodles. This taste… it's….amazing. I've never tasted something like this. I smiled, "This is amazing Landon. I've never thought you'd be this good at cooking". "Thanks, it's all thanks to the chefs at your house. I just made some differences here and there is all". I took another bite and swallowed. "Umm, I never catched your names" I said as I made eye contact with Landon's parents. "Oh how irresponsible of us. My name is Linda and this is John" Linda said. I nodded, "Ohh ok. It's nice to meet you" I replied and smiled. "The honor is ours. We never thought we'd be the ones to watch over the daughter of the house" she said. "So what took you guys so long?" I asked. Linda and John looked at each other, as if they were contemplating on telling me or not. Or maybe they don't know if they should? "Oh-uh-yes, our flight ticket…was a couple hours after—your plane flight" John said and slurped the rest of the soup and placed it down on the table. "Well I'm beat. Thank you for the food, son. If you don't mind I'll take my leave now and get some rest". "Sure thing dad". "I'll meet with you after I finish," Linda said to John and  then continued eating. "Alrighty then" John replied and left the table. I don't know if it's me but it felt really odd just now. After dinner was over, me and Landon picked up the plates and washed them. "Is your dad okay?" I asked. "Yea, I just think he's tired". "Ohh, okay…". I picked up the last plate and began rinsing it, but Landon gently removed the plate from my hands and rinsed it for me. "I totally had that," I said. "I know. But this plate has a chipped side and I don't want you to get hurt". He showed me the plate and indeed it did have a chipped side. But I'm not a child! I sighed. "I'm not a child you know". He chuckled, "I know. But I don't think I can handle seeing you hurt". Suddenly my heart felt heavy. I must be feeling sick again. "You...ok?" Landon asked. "Huh? Uhm, yea! I'm fine". I quickly rinsed my hands and dried them with a paper towel.   "If you ever need to talk, you can always come to me" Landon said gently. I looked at him. "Of course I will! You're my best friend!" I said and gave him a hug. I felt his hand wrapped around me, and I felt his warmth. He smelled like a fresh waterfall with a hint of vanilla? My heart felt so difficult to beat because it felt so heavy. Why is my heart beating so fast!? I quickly let go of him. I don't know why, but I always feel this sick only when I'm with him. "I'll see you tomorrow" I said and left for my room. "Okayyy" Landon said as his voice faded away.  That night I dreamt of being in some kind of magical serene park. The sky was dark but it had a rainbow of stars. And the moon was brighter, closer and beautiful than ever before. I was sitting on a long seated flower swing, and enjoyed the view. But then I heard footsteps and it was Landon, and he sat next to me on the swing. He looked at me and said, "I want to tell you something". I looked at him, "What is it?". It was quiet. "I don't know how to put it in words…". I waited. Suddenly music started playing. The kind where you dance slowly, and it matched perfectly with the serene view. "Wanna dance?" Landon asked me, totally changing the subject. "Ok". We both got off from the swing and faced each other. I wrapped my arms around his neck and he placed his hands on my waist. The sudden feeling of his body close to mine makes me feel hot inside yet comfortable. We danced and we danced, until I stopped and stared at him. He stared back at me too. I don't know what this feeling was but it felt like warm hot chocolate running through my veins. And before I knew it, I felt his lips against mine. And it felt like forever. And when our lips parted away, he said, "This is how I feel about you". And for some goddamn reason I smiled and told him that I felt the same way! And I awoke from my stupid dream.
