1 Day 1 (Night)

Ding!

That's sound of incoming email from my laptop.

He must have emailed me the contract.

[Writing up a contract is too much of a trouble. I've decided to trust my judgment of you so I'll pay you this amount XXXX monthly during the duration of our partnership. Any expenses incurred during this duration will be covered by me, naturally. By the way, I've just thought up of another details to include in our partnership.

Recently I've been trying to write a new book so I thought to hire an assistant to take care of my miscellaneous tasks. Now, why am I telling you this? Of course it is to make full use of the money I'm paying you for. That is to say, you'll be my assistant. (Two-in-one, I must be a genius.) During the time we work closely together, our love deepens. Sounds convincing right? So, that's how it will be. See you tomorrow at noon at the cafe we met the first time, I'll bring you to my workplace.]

He really did things as he pleased, doesn't he?

You must be wondering why I'm willing to go along with his crazy plans or put up with his less than desirable attitude. There's a reason actually, but for now, I'll just say that it is because I needed a distraction.

After I have finished reading his email, I washed up and get ready to sleep.

Lying on my queen sized bed, staring up at my left hand, or to be precise, at the silver ring with a small heart-shaped diamond on my finger , I thought it is a beautiful ring and must have costs a lot.

"Wait a minute, how does he know my ring size?"

My shocked voice reverberated through my tiny bedroom. This tiny space has been my home, my prison, my sanctuary. A constant companion, witnessing me in all my entirety.

That night, for the first time in a long while, I was able to fall asleep. This distraction in the form of an eccentric person proposing a bizarre plan is able to disrupt my thoughts enough for me to forget what I was trying so hard to forget all along. Everything is fine as long as I could fall asleep. That's the last thing I thought of as I drifted off to sleep that night.
