19 New Job

{Part 1}

A young boy with a great body, even though he didn't undergo puberty yet, ran vigorously through the forest, with only one goal...

"Ha!"

The dawn of sunrise reflected in in his golden blonde hair.

"Ha!"

He continued to swing his sword like with a high volume of frequency like a machine gun.

"HA!"

WOOSH

With one last swing using all his might, he produced an earth shattering shockwave.

"You're up early, Rein-bou." Water God Reyda came here. "You ended up training all night. Don't push yourself too hard."

Reinhard didn't speak and just nods his head in respect to the Water God.

{Part 2}

Isolte was also with Reyda who just woke up and ready to start her day.

Isolte kept glancing on Reinhard's way. Ever since about a month ago, she couldn't get him out of her mind. Especially the part where he healed her injuries and have to show him her skin. Just thinking about it made her heart beat faster.

After that they both trained side by side and he quickly caught up by the lessons and became a Water Saint himself.

Right now they're walking around the Capital City of Ars side by side.

"Reinhard-san, I heard that you met the Sword King Ghislaine? What kind of person is she?"

"She's strong. Even my father couldn't win a swordfight against her."

"You did say your father is an Advanced rank swordsman in all three schools right? Isn't that amazing?"

After all, being an Advanced rank in any field wether magic or swordplay needed a certain level of talent. And apparently Paul would rather goofed off with girls that train. What a waste of potential.

"Yeah. He's the first master I had. Though he really sucked." Reinhard reminisced about the past. A younger him holding a small wooden stick, getting taught by Paul. During that time he's still like an edgy teenager.

Isolte had struck up conversations like this with him from time to time.

Reinhard actually doesn't mind. He's actually enjoying the company of this girl. Though it's mainly because Isolte got the ability, she's a genius sword fighter at her own right. And besides she's really pretty, it won't be strange that he would be interested at her since he's still a boy after all.

Ever since he went here, they got closer. Though there might be a bumpy ride in their relationship, but this world admired the strong. As long as you have the strength, anything you do will be justified.

After a little bit of talking together during breakfast, they both exchanged swords with each other for sparring.

A Water God Style swordsman develops his skills when faced with a stronger opponent. And since Reinhard was a Saint ranked swordsman and at the same age with her, Isolte's growth is rapid.

And since Reinhard could see things through slow motion, he could actually download the techniques he seen and use it himself. Very much like a Sharingan without the Genjutsu stuff.

""Thanks for the match.""

It was a fruitful development for both parties.

"Hey the two of you! Come here for a bit." Tantris Cruel called out to them. He's Isolte's big brother, and an Advanced rank swordsman of the Water God Style.

"Nii-san? What's wrong?"

"There's a new job, for Reinhard."

"You called for me?"

And so Tantris told him of his new job.

{Part 3}

After buying supplies from the City, Reinhard rode in horseback outside the city following the Arteil river. Isolte tagging along.

While reading a map, he set his course towards his destination.

"Milbotts Region, North from here. Isn't the Notos Greyrat's land?" He recalled that his a father's former name was Paul Notos Greyrat. And he was supposed to be the succeeding Overlord of the Region.

Hypothetically if Paul didn't run away, and he still married Zenith. There's a big chance he's going to inherit the land too.

But if he think about it, he's not really suited on ruling any lands. He would rather be an Adventurer like them, or a Knight just like he is right now.

"Yes. You're quite educated aren't you Reinhard? You even know how to do arithmetic and market prices."

Next to him was Isolte elegantly riding on horseback. Her black hair swaying in the wind. Although she didn't look like Japanese, her black hair is rare in this country, or maybe even the world.

The reason why she's tagging along is that Reyda instructed her to explore outside the city and get real world experience. She never got outside the walls of the Capital, and spent most of her training in the dojo.

She never fought wild monsters before. And it just so happens that he needed a partner to patrol around the Kingdom.

The duration would last at least a year, so they're going to be with each other for a long while.

"I'm not an idiot. Anyone would be able to know this things if they studied."

Few hours passed and they arrived at the border at a rapid speed. They camped out for the night... In separate tents of course.

"<<Let the Spirit of Fire be on the place on thou seeketh, I call the bold flames of the torch here and now>> [Fireball]"

Reinhard lit up a bonfire for them to cook their food. Isolte sitting across him on a log.

After dismantling the monster meat and put them in skewers, Reinhard put them on a BBQ and even had special sauce he bought from the Capital.

Isolte looked a little disturbed knowing that they're going to eat monster meat. But when she finally got the taste of it, her eyes were sparkling in delight.

"What's this food? I've never tasted anything like this!"

"Hurry up and eat." He said. "I'll take the first watch, so you better sleep early."

It's not like they have to worry about monsters in this kind of place, but they might get robbed or something in the middle of their sleep so they agreed on night watches.

After they all exchanged shifts the night, they continued to their journey on the next few days.

"I think it's better if no one knows our identity while in this job." Reinhard said.

"Why? Wouldn't it be better if we report to the Lord of the land first? Isn't he a relative of yours? You told me before, his your father's younger brother right?"

The job they're doing is because of the reason that the Notos household refused to send their own Knights to protect a village. That village was apparently getting attacked by monsters.

If some random Knight of another region comes in to clean their mess, it will be bad politically for the lord of the land.

"I don't consider a person who abandons his people my own kin. They're gonna die for all I care, I don't give a shit."

Just thinking that such an incompetent and disgraceful guy was his blood relative made him disturbed. Even Paul would charge in the front lines against all the odds. He saw it for himself how he fought monsters for the sake of the village.

As a son, he saw him as someone dazzling.

{Part 4}

They arrived in a certain Rural village. Although currently it's the winter season, it reminds him of his days when he's training at such a harsh weather buck naked.

They went towards the Village Chief's house to inquire about the job.

"I'm a Knight of the Overlord of Fedoa, Reinhard Greyrat. Chief, tell me what you know."

"I'm the Chief of this village. I'll be glad of your help."

And so they debriefed him about the situation in the village.

This village is near a forest. In this world, Mana gathers in a forests and monsters spawn in them endlessly. It's quite dangerous.

That forest near them had started to swarm with monsters attacking the village at night. Their hunters could only do so much against such ferocious beast.

Their livestock slaughtered, kidnapped children, women raped, and etc. You don't want to hear the rest.

Goblins, Wolf monsters, bear monsters, insect monsters, ape monsters, and etc...

Though most of them are low-ranked monsters that could easily be dealt with B-rank adventurer party.

But this Kingdom didn't have any B-rank adventurer party since Asura Kingdom had a severe lack of monsters, except in this special case. They wouldn't get a proper job based on their skills and rank.

"So your Lord didn't respond and give you aid huh? Just like I thought."

"Yes. I'm grateful that Reinhard-sama came to our aid. On behalf of the village, I offer you gratitude."

"It's fine as long you get to pay. After all we're not charity."

Reinhard signed the contract for the job.

The Village Chief thanked him multiple times and then he went outside.

{Part 5}

After talking with the Chief, Reinhard went outside and saw Isolte talking to a girl. She's around two years older than him, at the same age as Eris.

The girl looked like she just stopped crying, and Isolte was comforting her with smooth and elegant words.

Reinhard found this scene truly beautiful.

Reinhard observed the girl Isolte's talking to, and somehow he felt somewhat nostalgic. It's like... It's like there's some sort of invisible connection between them.

'Did I met her somewhere...?'

After Isolte noticed him, she raised her hand and left her on her own.

"What's wrong?"

"Apparently her parents were killed by monsters. She's blaming us for not arriving earlier."

"Is that so..."

Reinhard could get a vague idea from what happened. That girl should've taken out her resentment on them, since it was the Noble's fault why they died.

Reinhard and Isolte were dressed in fancy armor and cloaks, so in her eyes they were some noble's kid playing Knights and made fun of them.

"That girl's parents died before they celebrated her 10 year old birthday. It's sad." Isolte brought up tears.

In this world, the coming of age birthdays are considered to be the most important day of an individual. You become the main character of your own life.

And yet she experienced something this sad, it's just too awful.

"...Let's go. Let's do our job. Not just for this village, but for the sake of that girl's parents."

Isolte sniffed from her nose beautifully and answered, "Yes."

They both went and prepare themselves. Reinhard wanted to ask something about that girl, but he decided to postpone it since he got a job to do.

The sooner they finish it, the better.

And they set off and slaughtered the den of monsters without mercy, dyeing the forest red with the smell of blood.
