THE CONTRACT

He took me to a room underneath the grounds,

Where the tunnel met an end and we went deeper underground.

The darkness gave me chills but then we sat on a table with a small lit lamp.

He did not ask me my name or where I am from.

All he gave me a simple smile as he handed over a contract to sign for.

The question was beginning to be raised but I stayed quite,

As I began to read,

My mind began to laugh..

He knew what I was thinking from the very start,

So I looked at him and gave a smile..

I signed the paper as a choice to be led,

With dignity and pride and heartfelt joy.
