It's a thought that runs through his head every time he read one of these books

Whilst pondering, he had thought of what would be considered his hobbies, whilst he was apathetic, this only was towards 'reality', which is why he would often lose himself in the 2D world as it would give him the excitement that he would never be able to feel in reality.
