6 6 First Mission

I waited and waited and exactly at 10 am, 3 weeks after I was first put into the tutorial the system showed up once again.

[Hello user. It has been 3 weeks since the tutorial and we believe that you have been given enough time to rest and recuperate. Do you want to begin your first mission now?]

[Yes/No]

I clicked yes immediately and I was once again wreathed in a white light. I was back in the hallway that I began my tutorial in. I looked exactly the same even down to the minor dents and scratches.

[As you have accepted to take you first mission you have been teleported to your hub. Here you may read the plaques on each door to read what mission you will be undertaking.]

[The plaques will give you 5 pieces of information. The name of the mission, a description of what it entails, the difficulty, the duration, and the potential rewards. So choose wisely]

[You may see that the duration for some mission are years but you don't need to worry. There is a time dilation affect where 1 day here is 1 minute outside so you don't have to worry about not having enough time]

[The difficulty is scaled meaning that it reflects how dangerous it is to you and you alone. So another person might get a complete different danger rating for the same mission]

Ok that all sounded good, especially that about the time dilation. I should probably choose more missions that take a long time so I can train more and get used to whatever world I get into.

The difficulty scaling would also definitely be helpful in picking a mission. I don't want to choose anything out of my league just yet, it is time to build my foundation.

So I walked to the nearest plaque to me and read it.

[Mission: Win the 5 Kengan Matches

Description: You are hired by the CEO of a furniture company to settle disputes he has with corporate rivals. To settle a dispute you have to defeat the other company's champion in a 1 on 1 fist fight. You don't have to will all fight consecutively but you do need to win 5.

Difficulty: A

Duration: Until you win 5 matches

Rewards: 10,000 Multiversal Coins, 25% off all purchases for fighting styles from this world]

I read and I seem to understand it until I got to the rewards, what are Multiversal Coins and where would I buy fighting styles?

"Hey system, what are Multiversal Coins and where would I buy fighting styles?" I asked.

[Multiversal Coins, or MC for short, is the currency used by the system that will allow to buy skills, equipment, and even traits from the system store.]

[As of now you have not yet been granted access to the store as you and the rest of humanity have yet to be given any MCs]

Huh OK. Made sense that there would be a store, there always is in this type of genre. It is good to know that no one has MCs yet though. I do wonder is missions the only way to get MCs?

"Hey is missions the only way to get MCs" I inquired.

[No they are not. You may also trade with other users to gain MCs or kill them and steal their MC. You may also get it if you have acheive an incredble feat worthy of getting a title.]

Shit that is not good. Before Earth was already spiralling into a shithole, this will just exacerbate it's problems. Now people have and incentive to kill each other.

I think the S ranks weren't doing much because they didn't have much to gain from a indiscriminate slaughter. Now they do however. Shit shit shit!

Not only that apparently you can trade for MCs. That means that rich people can probably buy MCs from poorer people who need help in order to enpower themselves.

This will only widen the gap between the rich and poor. Now so long as there are some idiots in the world willing to sell MCs, which there always will be, the rich can now easily turn money to power.

Here I thought I was guaranteed to become the best but no I had to worry about some rich asshole buying like 10 S-class skills with his money.

I sighed calming myself down. I shouldn't be thinking about this right now. Right now I need to pick a mission that will benefit me and allow me to use my future knowledge to the fullest.

I looked once again at the Kengan mission. I wasn't worth it. I was allowed to lose and I only had to win 5 matches so I believe I could do it but…

I was woefully unprepared for the strong that universe had to offer, plus I probably would be able to learn much. While I would be getting life and death battle experience I wouldn't be learning many new skills.

While Renewal Taekwondo was good I was still limited. I had limited mobility options, I can't fly, and I have limited ranged options. So I should get something that mitigates those weaknesses.

Ideally I would gain a mission that is incredibly long and allows to learn many useful skills. I searched and searched till I found 3 that interested me.

[Mission: Become the Black Panther

Description: You will be reincarnated as Erik Stevens and estranged family member of the Wakandan Royal Family. You have to take what is rightfully yours, find Wakanda and beat the current Black Panther to gain their title.

Difficulty: C

Duration: Until you become the Black Panther

Rewards: 2,500 MC, and 90% discount when buying vibranium and technology based of it]

[Mission: Pass the Hunter Exam

Description: You need to pass the Hunter Exam given by Chairman Netero. This exam tests you in every way from the ability to kill to your ability to cook so be prepared to all the hurdles coming your way.

Difficulty: B+

Duration: ~ 1 Month

Rewards: 7,500 MC, 25% discount in buying Nen Abilities]

[Mission: Join the CP9

Description: You will be a new recruit hoping to join the CP9, an elite secret agent that works for the marine and celestial dragon to control the wide seas. Here you will be expected to kill, survive and break through all your limits to learn the legendary Rokushiki.

Difficulty: B+

Duration: ~ 5 years

Rewards: 7,500 MC, 50% discount of skills taught by the Marines of CP organization]

These were all incredible mission each one of them could fix my problem.

If I became the black panther not only would I gain the heart shaped herb to become much stronger but I had access to legion of the most advanced scientist on earth with the greatest metal vibranium.

They could probably design a suit for me reminiscent of Ironman which would allow me to have long range capabilities but also be able to fly.

If I joined the Hunter Exam I could possibly gain Nen. Nen would be a game changer, allowing me to design an ability to fit any situation. Nen was also very scalable able to be take to much greater heights than vibranium probably could.

It was relatively short though being only 6 months. I also didn't say which hunter exam I am taking so I might be a completely different on than Gon and Killua were in negating my metaknowledge.

Lastly there was joining the CP9. Man as this dangerous, the world of One Piece has a lot of people that could crush me easily. I was also very volatile with power dynamics constantly changing.

Another problem was I don't know what the CP9 training is like. I know of the CP9 but not of their exact training process. But the power of the Rokushiki is enticing it allowed to remove all of my weakness.

I had Geppo to allow to fly in the sky. Tekkai to improve my defense. Soru to close distance incredibly quickly. Rankyaku to give that ranged capability that I wanted. Kami-e to improve my dodging ability. Lastly, Shigan for more damage.

That was not including the other thing I might learn there like Life Return. If I learned that I would definitely become much much stronger than I was now.

I thought about it which one was best? I first removed becoming the Black Panther. While it would give me access on one of the best metal in the multiverse, I was not a mechanic so I couldn't properly use it. So for me it had the lowest growth potential.

Then there was doing the Hunter Exam or joining the CP9. The hunter exam could allow me to learn Nen with is better than if I learned the Rokushiki due to it's sheer versatility and power.

But the time I was given was short and I wasn't guaranteed to learn Nen. On the other hand if I joined CP9 I was guaranteed training, and not only that I would probably learn other skills like stealth and deception.

Well my choice was made. I walked through the door the plaque was hung on.
