1 1. Recruitment ???
It was a nice day because I finally got holiday since I return from Afganistan. I was not that happy since my parents died in car accident 12 years ago so nobody is waiting for me at home.But it's still nice to go home and relax.When I arrived to checkpoint at the entrance of the base I handed over my document's.
{Guard}"let's look at it. Mike Rian form 101st Airborne Division - 506th Infantry Regiment.Hmmmm... Ok everything is good here is your week pass. Be sure to arrived at time.Have a nice holiday bro. " {Mike}"Yeah. I'll try. See you later."
It's always good to be friend with guard's because one never knows what can happen and they might help you. So I grabbed my ducuments and pass and left the gate. When I left I saw supply convoy entering the base. But as it always go some truck got haywire and run right at me.The only word that left my mouth were:
"Oh fuck m-"
Immediately closing my eyes I prepared for the upcoming pain. But there was nothing.So I opened my eyes to see truck 20 cm before me but it was not moving. After checking my surrounding I saw that nothing was moving. Not even the birds in the sky.
"What the hell happened ? The time stopped or what ?!"
After few seconds a big fireball was coming down through skies . I was loking with pale face at the fireball that was coming right at me. But after it stopped buring it emerged to be somewhat bulky looking plane. The plane(?) landed few tens of meters next to me. I was curious of what the actual fuck is going on so I grabbed the submachine gun from the frozen truck and slowly walked toward the plane while aiming at it .When I was 10 meters from what looks like rear hatch of it started open. I stopped and steadily aimed at the hatch. Then some kind of hovering robot/drone emerged from hatch.
{Mike}"Stop right there! And what the fuck are you?!"
Well I wasn't expecting it to answer me but after I looked to the interior of the plane it looked like insides of a transport helicopter.
{drone}"I'am G#@4Xs nice to meet you Mike. If you are asking how I know you I downloaded every single information form the internet and government servers.Don't worry I will explain you what is going on.But first you need to come with me to the dropship"
'What da fuck???! Oh fuck it probably they were the ones that stopped the time and saved me and they don't look hostile.. For now.'
{drone}"Hurry up the time stop module is only active for 6 minutes"
{Mike}"Okey but I will bring the gun with me."
{drone}"Fine so get on the ship."
After that I hopped up on the dropship. I was wandering it was looking somewhat familiar. It's looking like the dropship from that old scifi movie starship troopers but more modern. Yaeh I am fan of sci-fi movies and some animes but hey everyone has some kind of hobbies. When the ship started ascending I immedietly looked at the drone .
{Mike}"So will you start explainnig me what the hell is happening "
{drone}"Yes. You were chosen as a new recruit to the multi-dimension protection forces or MDPF for short. You were going to die in that accident and your corpse would never be found because the truck was loaded whith HE ammunition for artilery so I used last time stop module to get you out."
'Oh.. So I was going to die … fuck... but at least I was expecting some kind or reicarnation where the god would send me to another world with some wishes not this . Not that I am complaining … rather be alive than dead'
{Mike}"So what is the goal of MDPF or what am I supposed to do?"
{drone}"You will get to know the goal of MDPF at the ship and your purpose is to go through training and carry on legacy of the MDPF"
Before we ended the conversation I started to feel no gravity but after that the same vioce was hear but not from the drone but from the dropship itself.(speaker's in the cargo section)
{speakers}"Reached the low earth orbit . Activating artificial gravity . ETA to lunar orbit 47 minutes"
{Mike}"Hey ? Where's pilot ?!"
{drone}"There is no pilot. I am the one that is piloting this dropship. Next questions will be answered at the main ship.*BEEP*"
And like that the drone turned off and I was left alone with some screens at the wall that were showing what was going outside.With nothing to do I was thinking how I will miss the home and planet and all that stuff but hey at least I am not leaving anybody behind . My parents died and I have no other relatives because my dad and mom were oprhans. So I strengthened myself and wathced the scenery outside.
{speakers}"ETA 5 minutes"
After that I saw that we were on lunar orbit. The moon looked so beautiful but not that much because I saw looking at it throught screens and also there was gravity but it still looked cool.
{speakers}"ETA 2 minutes"
The small dot that I saw a few moments ago is getting bigger nad bigger .
{speakers}"ETA 30 seconds. Starting boarding sequence ."
And then I saw it . A really cool looking scifi spaceship. But there was something weird. Threre were big hole's in the whole ship even some chunks of metal were missing from it . At the side of the ship was something writen. When we started slowing down a huge door opened at the side under the name of the ship.The name was "USS Last Hope". The dropship landed insede the airlock of the hangar.after few seconds of pressure stabilization dropship finally landed.After that the drone woke up and said
{drone}"follow me to the bride"
{Mike}"Oh wow that's all you had to said ? Nevermind . Let's go"
I folowed the drone trough ship but I realized something 'Where are other people'
{Mike}"Hey drone where are others ?"
{drone}"all crew is KIA"
'they must have been trough tough battle, but most importantly who was the enemy? I don't have a good feeling about this'
Door to the bridge opened and I saw many screen with chair and one big robotic arm(?) and I spoke:
{GLaDOS}"Hello ! We finaly meet face to face . Again my name is GLaDOS and I am the main AI of this ship"
Heck it's really GLaDOS ! Hope it's friendly .
{GLaDOS}"Don't worry even though I am build by the game from your world I have no bad intentions . My duty is to protect and help soldiers of the MDPF"
{GLaDOS}"There is video from the previous commander.It will explain most of your questions" Video started playing.
{Commander}"If you are watching this it means you are the last of MDFP.Our organization was created to fight our enemy across dimensions. The Zerotonians . Race that jumps from dimension to dimension looking for exotic material. But the problem is how they are doing it. If they meet a planet with life they would destroy it or enslave it. But because you are watching this it means that you don't need to worry anymore. Operations HAMMERFALL is in a effect. All dimensional jump point's are to be destroyed and all databanks must be wiped out.*sigh* Let's hope our comrades can finally find peace."
{GLaDOS}"This is the only video I found in the main databank"
{Mike}"Oh..by the way what are those jump point's ?"
{GLaDOS}"I don't have exact information's but what I know every dimension is connected to another one or multiple dimension's via jump point's . There are grouped into clusters that are called Dimension sector's"
{Mike}"Hmmm... okey so what is next?"
{GLaDOS}"There is information left that indicades that there is one jump point left next to star named alpha centaury B. It is an unmapped Dimension sector. Also the the the Zerotonians were experimenting with technology to create artificial jump point's and they are targeting the dimension behind that next to aplha centaury B. Estimated time is 9.4 years until they arrive."
{Mike}"So we are going there ?"
I said with a curios tone. I mean who wouldn't to travel across the stars and even dimension. If this is my new beginnig then it should not be a boring one.
{GLaDOS}"Yes. ETA to the jump point is 4.5 year due to demaged warp drive. Meanwhile you will train and go trough augumentations to increase your combat and survival capabilities "
{Mike}"When are we going to start ?"
{GLaDOS}"Right now"
And like that she led me to show me the ship. The next 2 months I was just doing some workout playing video games and once a day injecting myself with some pink substance. GLaDOS said that they are nanites and need to be injected in small portions over time so my immune system will accept them.After completing all injections she called me to the medbay . I laid down on the surgery bed wich has 3 mechanical arm above it.After I woke up I felt different . I was thinking faster and all my senses were much more sensitive. Then I opened my eyes and saw something I wouldn't dream even in my wildest dreams. Maybe.
To my whole body was attached and exoskeleton but no the bulky ones on earth but a somewhat thin looking black exoskeleton.GLaDOS telled me all my 'upgrades'.Whole exoskeleton , 2 secondary thinking chips in my brain. A lot of sensors so I can feel , smell , see and hear better . Heck I even have thermal vision.Communication module , some ports on my spine.GLaDOS said that if I want I can attach new robotic arms to it. Air pumps in my lungs to help me breathe , pump for helping my circulate my blood and fucking bioreactor in my chest to convert food to electricity to power all these things up.The next moth I was trainnig to get used to my new 'power'.When I was done she told me I don't need to train more because I was alread soldier so she will put me into cryosleep. After approximately four years I woke up. It felt all like dream but when I felt weird sensation in my head I knew it wasn't because that sensation was communication module establishing connetion with the ship.
{GLaDOS}"We are 1 day away from the jump point"
{Mike}"Ok I going to do some workout so tell me when we are 10 minutes away"
{GLaDOS}"affirmitive"
20 Minutes from jump point the alarm starts ringing.
{Mike}"What the guck is going on GLaDOS?! Don't tell me there are zero's"
{GLaDOS}"Yes they are and are closing in"
{Mike}"How did they get here?"
{GLaDOS}"It looks like they made it through when we first arrived to this dimension and before we closed the jump point"
{Mike}"Ah fuck ! Right before jump point.What are we going to do? Do we have some weapons active ?"
{GLaDOS}"No except for the ones that are installed on the three dropships. I already calculated the solution for this situation . We must sacrifice the ship. You will aboard the dropship wich don't have remonate control with basic supplies and small mobile fabricator. I will pilot the other two to stall them . When we will be close to jump point and you made it trough I will detonate the main reactor of the ship. It will destroy them but will close the jump point "
{Mike}"Right on it"
Right after I finished loading the supplies with the help of the drones a picked two drone to come with me . I hopped on the pilot seat and wondered 'how I am going to pilot this ?! Nevermid it's just like in games 'After flying through the airlock chamber of the hangar I saw two ship smaller than "Last Hope" firing at the dropships in wich they returned fire . I pointed the dropship at the jump point and started to fly at it with full speed.
{Mike}"what about you GLaDOS??"
{GLaDOS}"Don't worry I have backup in the two drones wich are witch you"
{Mike}"Thanks"
{GLaDOS}"For what ?"
{Mike}"For this new chance to live my life. I mean back at earth I was just living from day to day only to find my always house empty. So at least there is some action. You know that is the reason that I joined the army"
{GLaDOS}"?Ummm.. Okey? I guess ? Anyway you are 1 minute from jump point . "
{GLaDOS}"15 seconds I am starting to overloading the reactor"
{GLaDOS}"Self-destructing"
Right after I entered the jump point wich looked like sphere that blended ligh on the edged of it the ship exploded. When I emerged from the sphere I saw green planet underneath me but the schock wawe caught with me and sent me flying from the the console and I hit my head on the edge of copilot seat. My vision slowly darkened after which I lost consciousness.
