12 CHAPTER 12: Covert Operation

In the quiet of the night, several vehicles parked in front of Sunny Hotel, attracting the attention of people who were still outside.

On the outside, it looked like a normal car belonging to an important organization. But, in truth, the people who drove the car were part of Arobyn City's elite military police.

Inside one of the cars, Captain Kang, who sat in the passenger seat, suddenly asked, "I wonder why Vice Commander Liu hurriedly dispatched us to this place?"

He glanced at the moderately sized hotel, which was not too big, and not too small.

"Could it be a buybust operation?"

Captain Kang looked at the person who had just spoken and considered that the possibility was quite high.

Vice Commander Liu Yan was well-known in the country's military. His fame had grown from his heroic deeds during a terrorist attack on a hijacked airplane and saved hundreds of lives from perishing away on that plane. Furthermore, the Liu family held several influential military positions, making his name synonymous with military excellence.

"In any case, Vice Commander Liu told us to be covert and not raise any suspicions," Captain Kang patted his black jacket and reached for the car door.

"Let's go."

...

Inside the room, the man who had struck Avery paced around nervously. He bit the tip of his thumb as he looked at the unconscious figure lying on the bed.

"What should I do?" he mumbled while his eyes darted around the room.

He had never intended to harm Avery. Upon learning that the film crew she was a part of was filming nearby and planning to have a meal at a restaurant, his instantly wanted to get her autograph.

Unfortunately, Avery left before he had a chance to see her. However, he accidentally overheard staff members talking, mentioning that Avery had left early to return to her room. This was when he decided to follow her into the hotel, and witnessing her interaction with the delivery guy outside her room had ignited jealousy within him.

How could a mere delivery guy engage with his idol?

Why did Avery's eyes sparkle when she saw him?

Just why?!!!

Once the delivery man was out of his sight, he tried to resist the urge to knock on her door.

That's right. He only wanted to stand in front of her door. But who would have thought that her door wasn't even locked!

Could this be an invitation for him to enter and meet his goddess?

Without thinking twice, he pushed the door open and entered.

Now, the situation had turned like this: the man pushed all the blame onto Avery.

The man lost all his senses and angrily shouted, "F*ck! I just wanted to see you from a closer distance! Why did you have to scare me so much?"

"It's all your fault."

He furiously pointed a trembling finger at Avery.

"That's right! Everything's your fault!"

The man knew that what he had done was a crime. He was aware that once he left the room, the police would look for him.

And so, he could only come up with a plan that would allow him to evade the law and be chased by the police.

Breathing heavily, the man ominously approached the bed.

His eyes quickly darted across the woman's body on the bed, and he took out his phone.

'BANG!'

Just as his hand was about to pull the bathrobe belt, the door to the room burst open with a loud noise, followed by several men in complete black attire holding their guns in the air.

"Put your hands behind the back of your head!"

When they entered the hotel room number that Vice Commander Liu had told them about, Captain Kang expected to find people engaged in criminal activities. He was even prepared to engage in a deadly fight with them if the situation called for it.

But no one had prepared him for what he was about to see upon entering the room.

It wasn't only he who was shocked to see that the room only had two people inside; one man and one woman. The men he had brought from his team were similarly taken aback by what was going on in front of them.

Had they entered the wrong room?

At this notion, someone acted first and looked at the room number outside before signaling to them that they had the correct room: Room number 213.

Even though Captain Kang was confused as to why an elite military police team like his had been called into this room when there were obviously no dealings being negotiated inside, he still sensed that something was amiss.

Especially when Captain Kang saw the man standing by the bed with a phone in his hand. The man appeared to be around thirty, with a frail appearance and a pair of eyes that had large dark circles under them. His eyes, in particular, looked wicked.

"You! What are you doing?" Captain Kang stepped forward and questioned him. "Didn't you hear what we said?"

The man didn't expect the sudden arrival of these men. When he heard them commanding him to put his hands on the back of his head, he almost peed himself. He thought that the police had come to capture him.

But upon closer inspection, these men weren't wearing police uniforms.

Bravely facing the man who took a step forward towards him, he raised his chin upward and asked, "Who—who are you people? Did you enter the wrong room?"

"Don't ask. Just answer my question!" Captain Kang demanded.

The man visibly shook like a leaf when the wind rustled under Captain Kang's fierce gaze. He stumbled on his words as he said, "What's it to all of you? Are you not afraid that I won't report you for intruding into my room?"

"GET OUT! My wife and I are trying to sleep, why did you enter without even knocking!"

He didn't know who these men were, but his instincts told him that he couldn't tell them the truth!

"Get out of here before my wife wakes—"

Before the man could continue his words, someone suddenly said, "Captain, this woman is unconscious!"

While the man was distracted by Captain Kang, one of the men approached the bed and looked at the woman lying in bed.

Upon hearing this, Captain Kang momentarily looked away from the man, only for the latter to take this chance to run away!

"Block his way out and don't let him get away!"

Captain Kang didn't even look at the man as he stepped closer to the bed.

But at this moment, the man who tried to run away was suddenly gripped by the hair and tossed back inside the room, all under everyone's eyes.

"Who did you say is your wife?"

An eerie and low voice, filled with unconcealed wrath, echoed inside the room.
