4 Truth

Year 2016

Zhao Ting Ting spends her days with Mimi while renting a bedroom in her apartment room since Mimi's husband is currently on a business trip in United Kingdom. Ting Ting can temporary live with Mimi. After resting for a few days, she went back to St. Mikes to continue on working as a nurse. Her usual routine was switching between emergency department and nurses' station by picking up phone calls and organize patient's files. Everyday, she gets to meet with different patients and learning about their conditions.

This evening, Zhao Ting Ting will have to go to her parent's house to explain the situation. Her anxiety is currently up the roof but she had to concentrate during her work period. Mimi comforted her saying that no matter what happens, she will always be by her side.

It was late at night around 10pm when Ting Ting was off work, she took the bus and went to her parent's house. Lu Ting will not be coming over since he already told her parents that they won't be together for now. She was all alone now, her only support is her best friend. Ting TIng hesitated to ring the doorbell but she did it anyways. It's always better to get over with it.

Ting Ting's father opened the door and he was clearly disappointed, her mother looked disappointed as well. Ting Ting bowed her head and apologized, "I'm sorry, father and mother. I'm not filial. I'm not able to have a child. Lu Ting and I broke up too. I've disappointed you." She waited until they replied but instead her father slapped Ting Ting's face, "You know you've disappointed us, why did you come back? Why aren't you like your older sister?! Look at her, she already has her own family and yet, you still have nothing!! Get out of this house! Get everything out!" Ting Ting didn't say anything but nodded, "I'll clear everything out then I'll leave." She went up to her bedroom and closed her door.

God, why is this happening to me? Why are you allowing these things to happen? Ting Ting cried for a few minute then gathered up her strength to clear her room out. She can always go back to Lu Ting's apartment any day to gather up her things. Her mother knocked on Ting Ting's door and had a heart to heart talk with Ting Ting.

"Ting Ting, your father is just worried about you. You're already 24, girls at your age already have kids and families... You should think about that, okay? If you can't have a child, find someone else who can give you that. I know you are trying your best but you know you should work harder and get married. Okay? Don't blame this on us." Ting Ting's mother left without saying I love you or I'm sorry. She just left like that.

Ting Ting got her stuff ready and bid farewell to her parents. She walked slowly with tears in eyes. Then out of nowhere, a black car stopped by and she heard three honking sound.

"Ting Ting? Is that you?" She wiped her tears and looked into the car, it was Alex. Her emergency department manager. He was handsome, tall and also gorgeous. Alex had a crush on Ting Ting ever since she transferred to the department. They went to the same university but went on different path.

"Hey Alex, why are you here so late?" Alex looked at her with concern in his eyes, "I was about to ask you the same, why are you alone this late? Did something happen to you?" Ting Ting shook her head, "Oh, it's dust in my eyes. It's allergies." Alex turned off his car engine and came out of the door, "Ting Ting, it's okay to cry. I don't know what happened to you but you don't seem like yourself today." Alex gently embraced her and Ting Ting cried her eyes out.

"I... I..." Ting Ting struggled to let the words out but Alex waited patiently, "It's okay, take your time." Ting Ting calmed down a bit then told him the truth. Alex nodded and he was in deep thought, "Ting Ting, how about this? I'll give you one day break tomorrow so you can check with a gynecologist. Okay? Sometimes it happen because emotional instability or high stress. Whatever the result you have, I'll help you." Ting Ting nodded, "Thank you, Alex. You've always been a great help." Alex shook his head, "That's what I'm suppose to do. Do you have a place to stay? Or do you want to stay in my house?" She shook her head out of respect, "No it's fine. I... I'm staying with a friend. I'm just renting." Alex understood and asked her to get inside the car, "I'll drop you off. What's the address?" Ting Ting typed out the address on his phone and Alex drove her to Mimi's apartment.

After twenty minutes, they've arrived. Alex helped her taking out her bags and luggage. Ting Ting thanked him and told him she will be fine alone. He nodded as he waved bye to her, "Let me know when you get back." Ting Ting waved back and Alex left. Ting Ting rang the doorbell and Mimi unlocked it. She gave Ting Ting a hug and asked her how everything went.

"Oh... so that happened. I'm sorry, Ting Ting, I don't know what to say. I'll always support you, Okay? Everything in life happens for a reason, we might not know the exact reason but we always have to believe, there is a way out." Mimi smiled and gave her a rub on her back, "Get some rest for today. You still have work tomorrow, right?" Ting Ting shook her head, "I'm going to the doctors tomorrow to get a check up." Mimi nodded and told her to have a good rest and believe everything will be fine tomorrow.

Next morning, Ting Ting waited at the gynecology department waiting for her number to be called. When she was called, she took a deep breath and closed her eyes saying to herself, everything will be fine. She went in and sat down while the doctor asked her some questions.

"Can you lie down? I'm going to do pelvic and breast examination. If you don't feel comfortable, I can ask a nurse to come in." The gynecologist was a young female doctor who was really kind and gentle. Ting Ting felt relaxed just by listening to her voice. Ting Ting shook her head, "It's fine." The doctor smiled and continued on examining. After several minutes, the doctor didn't find anything abnormal so she asked Ting Ting to get a blood test.

"The test result should be out by tomorrow, we'll send you the result." The doctor told Ting Ting and she was thankful, "Thank you, Doctor." Ting Ting went to the first floor to get a blood test, surprisingly it was quite fast and painless. She hopes everything will be fine by tomorrow.
