27 Ignite

Hazel and Aiden were on their way home. After their previous conversation, some of the barriers between them had crumble and they were quite comfortable around each other.

"I think you should read my latest book. It might be helpful for you." Aiden suggested.

"Well, I'll try it out. As you know, I'm more than busy these days. But I'm quite eager to read your book. I wonder if they showcase your nature." Hazel replied. She always reads business management books and other that would be helpful for her work. She never had time to read some novels.

But she was willing to read if it was written by him. To be honest, she was quite excited to read his books.

"You will be quite surprise at my works." Aiden said with a smile. He was quite confident again.

The car stopped due to the traffic light. Hazel tilted her head to Aiden and tries to answer him. But she can't say a single word! Her hands shiver and she finds it difficult to breath! She grabbed her hand and tried to stop the nonstop shivering; but all her efforts were futile. She turned pale in a blink of an eye!

Aiden shifted his eyes to her and realized the situation. He was dumbfounded! What happens to her? She was fine just now! He panicked for a while.

Soon he gets ahold of himself and think about what to do. He grabbed her hands and holds them affectionately.

Hazel, who was too scared to look up anymore, slowly raise her head and look at the man who is holding her hands. She saw how worried he was!

"Are you okay?" Aiden asked her. Though his voice was calm, there was a hint of anxiousness in it.

Hazel tilted her head and eyed at the man who was sitting at the back of the car beside them. It was Xander Yang!

Aiden tried to look at the place where Hazel's eyes landed. But before he could shifted his eyes to that direction, Hazel blocked his vision. "Don't look." She muttered. She didn't want to let him see her weakness.

Hazel was a bit calm than before but still it was hard to bear for her. She eyed at her handbag and said to Aiden. "Please take out one pill for me." Her voice was hoarse. Her body feels numb and her hands are shivering nonstop to do anything!

Aiden immediately opened the handbag and gave the pill to Hazel. The latter swallowed it right away.

"How do you feel now?" Aiden's eyes never leave her. He feel like his heart will explode due to anxiousness.

Hazel close her eyes and take a deep breath. She slowly opened her eyes and noticed that Xander Yang was gone! She heave a sigh of relief.

"I'm fine now." She muttered.

Aiden suddenly hugged her and embrace her in his arms. Her soft and weak body crashed in his perfect well built body! She can feel the warmness in his body and his rapidly beating heart. This time, it's his turn to heave a sigh of relief.

He embrace her for a while without realizing it. He was so anxious and afraid to lose her! His heart was torn into pieces when he witness her struggle!

"I was so nervous that I thought my heart would burst!" He muttered in a husky voice. "I'm afraid to lose you." He told her.

Hazel thought that she should withdraw her body from him; but it was just the wish of her mind. Maybe her heart said otherwise! She tried to push him away but her numbness came back to her. She can't move a single inch! She was amazed by just how much his warm embrace comforted her!

"Aiden." She muttered. "I'm okay now." She reassurred him.

"I'm so glad. Everything will be okay. I will protect you." He said in a firm voice. He was full of determination. Just a moment ago when he thought that he might lose her; he was reminded just how much he loved this woman! What made her struggle so much?! What made her shiver like that?!

The red light was already green a while ago. Endless horn from the car behind them forced them to start the car and continue driving. But Aiden's eyes shifted to Hazel several times even as he was driving. He wanted to make sure that she was alright.

Hazel was very quiet since then. She didn't utter any single word. Her eyes were lowered and she keeps on playing with her fingers. She was nervous.

"Don't push yourself too hard. Everything will be okay." Aiden reassured her once again. He too tried his best to stay calm. As he witness her panicked so much, he became more curious about her past. But he didn't want to push her; especially in this situation.

"Thanks for comforting me." Hazel said to him. Her voice was gentle but nervousness was still evident. She only stay calm because of him.

Their ride that night was such a long and quiet one. They didn't utter much words; but their eyes said it all. They realized how much they cared for each other and how they comforted each other. They both keep quiet but their minds was completely occupied by each other.

It may be the night when their limitless love for each other starts to ignite! A love that would never be stumble, no matter what happens! A deep trust that would never be broken! But does that type of deep love really exist in this cruel and dark world?.....
