102 Eavesdropping on Her Conversation

Alonso was just finishing braiding Natalie's hair. They were getting ready to visit his father's room as they had agreed the night before, but he was interrupted by a phone call.

He frowned, "That's Terrissa. I have to take it." He kissed Natalie's temple, "Finish up, I'll come for you in five minutes."

"…Okay," she replied dejectedly.

When Alonso opened the door, he found Jack with his arm raised as if he was about to knock.

"Good morning, Jack."

"Hey, Alonso. Can I come in?"

"Sure," Alonso held Jack's shoulder then let it go before moving out of sight.

Jack walked inside with a peculiar smile on his face and sat on Natalie's bed then patted the space next to him. She walked towards her bed and sat where he gestured.

"I heard all about last night from Javier, and I swear, it's the first time I wished I was here to see it all."

The level of genuine happiness on his face was almost disturbing.
