5 A Wretch Whom Nobody Wants

Just from hearing Jiang Yueping speak, Bai Ran could picture the aggressive look on her face without looking up at her.

Bai Ran frowned slightly but ignored Jiang Yueping. Remaining calm, she stayed hunched over and kept groping around on the ground.

When Xu Chenglin saw how Bai Ran kept searching for the ring, he could not help but step forward to persuade her to stop. "Ranran, it's just a ring. If you lost it, so be it. We can't return to the past, so what's the point? You should go home. Don't come here again."

Xu Chenglin's spoke somewhat regretfully.

However, little did he know how ridiculously laughable he sounded to Bai Ran.

"Does he think that I'm searching for the ring because I still have feelings for him?

"Hah… How bigoted he is…"

Initially, Bai Ran didn't want to bother with this shameless couple. Of all the things they could have done, they chose to stand in front of her in such an overbearing way, literally looking down on her.

Bai Ran's pink, supple lips curled up into a faint smile, and she dusted her hands before she stood up.

Her humility was not a show for them.

When Xu Chenglin saw her stand up, he thought she had come to her senses and was heeding his advice. Just when he was happy and prepared to continue with his persuasions, he felt something breeze past his ears the moment he opened his mouth to speak.

Slap! Suddenly a painful, burning sensation began to spread across his cheeks.

Xu Chenglin was instantly rooted in the spot in shock. He stared straight at Bai Ran, who was standing in front of him. He never expected her to slap him; the blow made his mind go blank.

Before he managed to react, Jiang Yueping had already jumped forward quickly and pulled him behind her back protectively. Pointing her finger at Bai Ran, she began to hurl abuses at her.

"You…you shrew! How dare you slap him? No wonder he doesn't want you anymore!"

Bai Ran was utterly unsurprised by how Jiang Yueping jumped in so abruptly.

Xu Chenglin was meek, to begin with. He was afraid to take a stand or get involved in things. An evil, overbearing woman like Jiang Yueping could entirely control him.

"I've already slapped him. Both of you can leave now." Bai Ran's expression remained unchanged. She had slapped Xu Chenglin to get back at him for how she had spent a month taking care of him.

"With this, it's over. We're through."

"I still need to look for the ring. I shouldn't waste my time entertaining them."

Jiang Yueping became genuinely angry when she saw the look of nonchalance on Bai Ran's face.

She simply could not bear to see this illegitimate daughter lead a decent life.

"Father had always treated this bastard daughter well since she was a baby. He thought of her whenever in happy times, and he never cared about my siblings or me.

"So after I found out that father had arranged a marriage for Bai Ran, I vowed to steal her fiancé.

"Sure enough, Xu Chenglin, that worthless man, fell head over heels in love with me shortly after father died. There is nothing left for Bai Ran anymore.

"Tonight, Second Brother organized a charity event in our house. Little did I expect Bai Ran to show up and demand to see Xu Chenglin.

"At that moment, I threw Xu Chenglin and Bai Ran's engagement ring down the third floor, and Bai Ran ran downstairs like a fool to kneel and search on the lawn for such a long time.

"Right now, she even dares to get physical?"

"Go? Bai Ran, get this straight. You are the uninvited guest in this house. You're the one who should leave, not me! You're a wretch whom nobody wants!" Jiang Yueping was loud. As she spoke, she even tried to shove Bai Ran.

Caught off guard, Bai Ran's body tilted over, and she fell backward.
