2 Chapter 2

Liza's POV

I groaned as soon as I checked the time, ticking 8:30 am. I was planning on staying in bed for a couple more hours but then I remembered.

My job.

Why can't life just be easy? I would have lots of money, taking care of my Mom and doing other things without having to work my ass off on the regular. It was really a pain in the ass, but as they all say, hard work pays off.

I contemplated going to work or not, and I sighed. I would have to unless my Mom and I would probably die from poverty. Even thinking about that just made me squirm in my bed.

I went to the bathroom and looked in the mirror and almost screamed at how horrid I was looking. I cringed when I noticed a small drool trailing down my chin. Using the sleeves of my sweater, I wiped off the excess. I then took the time to wash my face gently, making sure I didn't poke my eyes because it tends to happen quite frequently than I would like to admit. Then after that, I quickly brushed my pearly whites.

A couple of minutes go by. I walked to the mirror side and checked out my outfit. I was wearing an orange Knit sweater with brown High-waisted Corduroys and a pair of brown ankle boots, with a messy bun hairstyle to match with the outfit. It wasn't that bad but it kinda just screamed poor looking. I couldn't really do anything about that. I didn't have any makeup on because it wasn't needed.

After looking at myself once again, I got down the stairs ready to greet my Mom. But I didn't see her. She must have still been sleeping, probably from stressing too much. Poor Mum.

I got out the front door. I didn't bother with breakfast because I could just have it at the coffee shop. It wasn't far from where I lived, it was approximately 10 minutes away.

I reached and entered through the doors. Once I entered, I greeted the manager, Mrs. Ryder. She looked quite young at the age of 42. Her skin was so tan, her eyes were like emeralds shining like a star. Her red hair looked so shiny and soft. She barely was showing signs of aging. Customers come by telling us that we look alike. As time came by, I started to see it as well. If I were in the customer's shoes, I would definitely think we were blood-related. But of course, I still love my Mom so much, and I wouldn't trade her for anything.

" Good morning Mrs. Ryder!", I said with a cheeky smile.

"Oh honey, I told you to call me Emily. Mrs. Ryder just makes it seem like I ride...nevermind, good morning to you too, now off with your last day!" she said excitedly.

Is it just me or what she was about to say was a whole different thing. Anyway, I went ahead to get my apron on and walked to the register, patiently waiting for our first customer to arrive.

Once I heard the bell ring, I looked up with a very big smile but it soon faltered when I realized who walked in. What's a man like him doing here in our barely stabled coffee shop.

He walked in with pride like he owned the place. Not that he would like to anyway. From what I could observe, he looked very rich, wearing a black 3 piece Armani suit and a pair of cap-toe oxford black shoes. He was undeniably good looking.

When he walked towards me I got ready to take his order.

"Hello, welcome to Club Coffee, what can I get you?"

"Cappucino" he replied, no sign of emotion could be seen. I guess he's a man of not many words.

"That will be $5 please", I handed him his cappuccino, then he slammed a 100 dollar note and mumbled, "keep the change".

"But Sir, I can't take this, it's too much. Don't you have a $5 bill in your wallet?", I frowned a little bit.

"Stop being a whiffle waffle and get this straight. I don't carry a wallet, I carry a credit card. You should feel lucky enough that I have a few notes on me since your coffee shop is so unstable to afford a simple credit card machine", he scoffed and walked out of the shop.

I stayed rooted on the spot, at loss for words. What he said was partially true but it still incredibly rude and uncalled for.

He just insulted our coffee shop. What kind of vexatious irritating jerk face is he?, to just come here like he owned the place and insult our shop, OUR SHOP.

Have I mentioned that he's a jerk?

I quickly composed myself as soon as I noticed the people standing in the line scoffing at me. I must have said that out loud. I tend to voice out my thoughts and it gets really annoying. I hate the looks people give me after I do such things like this. It just makes me so uncomfortable.

They were still looking at me. Seriously? what is wrong with people sometimes. Can't they mind their own business?

I scoffed back at them. I know it was petty of me but I really couldn't be bothered with such nonsense behavior.

Seeing that my shift was over, I quickly gathered my things about to head out, not wanting to waste any more time. But I made a quick stop at Mrs. Emily's office. I had already discussed leaving the job a while ago and she seemed okay with it and I'm glad.

After I met with Mrs. Emily, I continued to head back to my house. It wasn't long before I reached.

When I got home, I gave a quick kiss on my mom's cheek and went straight upstairs.

Today was one heck of a day.
