Chapter 9

After sending a mana-charged gold brick, I made by imbuing a ridiculous amount of mana into it to make sure it didn't break apart when I chucked it into the air with a small letter engraved upon its surface to Reimu by following the directions of the children pointing in the general direction of the Hakurei Shrine.

I also had to have the children show me how to write the local letters as I was American in my past life and was nowhere near enough of a weeb to know how to write Japanese characters as the culture within Gensokyo hasn't changed at all for like the last hundred plus years.

But I was able to learn some interesting stuff about the human village from the children as they only needed a couple of pointers on how to use the shower/baths apparently most buildings in the Human Village had water pumps inside the kitchen area so people could rather easily get water without needing to go as well as a rudimentary toilet system similar to the older roman method where they do their business on a slopped bowl and after pouring some water to push down the waste it would merge with a large pipe sending the waste south from the human village to weird dump site that apparently nasty Yokai live in and where the barrier is the weakest and sometimes weird monster's that aren't even Yokai pop up and have to be put down by Yokai or should the human survive meeting whatever monster it is.

"Can you tell me about the monsters that come around that dump site?" I asked bemused as it sounded more like Reisen or some of the lunar rabbits fucking with people as Reisen's ability in particular literally caused people who made eye contact to be driven insane as her wave control ability also includes brain waves.

"Oh, they are always very different but a lot of them have tentacles and too many eyes." The plucky kid who called Yukari's boobs, lopsided told me.

I froze hearing how little outer demons were regularly appearing within Gensokyo but then again if all the mythologies outside are alive if not held up in their dimensions, then it's not surprising that our gods exist in some manner... Or hell I could just be overthinking and it's just weird Japanese's monster's I have never heard of. It's not like much Shinto mythology gets to America honestly.

I hummed in thought and then looked to the one kid who was brave enough to look me in the face as the rest of the other children nervously stared at the ground scared at the infinite mana, I was expelling just to power the barriers and the construct's I had built around the mountain for the kids and any humans who may decide to move here. "Child you do realize you insulted probably the most dangerous lady of Gensokyo correct." I saw him gulp hearing my words referring to him calling Yukari's boobs lopsided making me smile lightly and lean forward. "You are probably the bravest human boy I have seen here in Gensokyo even if your bravery was born out of ignorance over who you were insulting."

"So, tell me Child what is your name I certainly will remember you though not nearly as much as Yukari is probably thinking of how to curse you or just drop you through a portal into the sun."

The kid surprisingly lost his fear as he shrugged and as I paid more attention to the brat, I noticed he had somewhat salmon pink hair as well as being pretty decently built showing he probably worked as an apprentice in some menial trade. "My name is Sukuna Toya. And I want to become a warrior like big brother Hiro." Hmm, I could see a couple more of the children nodding and looked up to see me smiling at Sukuna.

"So, you want to be my champion, like he is? Or do you just want his strength and a divine weapon?" I asked gently trying to get a picture of the kids who were already looking up to Hiro I knew it was human nature for weaker people to want to congregate around charismatic people, so it was likely so long as Hiro still had decent contacts within the village it was likely he could pressure the humans living within to move here where it would be safe, especially with Keine and the other women who would be capable of fighting Yokai being disabled for the next couple weeks to heal up unless they wanted to chance a meeting with that lunar healer woman living in Eintei.

Another one of the kids who looked to be a girl, but she was so dirty from the trip and was wearing Hiro's jacket as it seemed that her old clothes were shredded to make pseudo shoes for her to walk on asked me with a sad lit to her tone. "Obviously we want the power but nothing is free in this life so what do you want for us to not have to fear being eaten by a Yokai..." All the children looked at the girl and seemed to agree with her words though they certainly didn't have the bravery to say that straight to my face like that.

I leaned forward and the girl could feel my mana weighing her just taking her measure as I stared into her purple eyes. "I am a mountain god. My name is Moria and despite my infinite power I am locked to my mountain and need the faith of others to augment my power and allow me to spread my strength further outward."

I leaned back and waved at the girl with a grin. "So little lady tell me what I want from you and the others."

I felt that being honest and showing my power was the best way to get as many advantages as possible as if I could metaphorically bind the majority of Gensokyo's children to me whether it was human or fairy's then I could easily have the rest of the adult humans move here without much of a fuss.

"You want our donations?" She asked uncertainly making me facepalm with a loud crack as the air exploded from the force of my frustration.

"No... I am not a charlatan god like the one sealed away within the Hakurei shrine." I spat making the children look at each other in confusion.

"Ok look at it this way. You know the Moriya Shrine Goddesses?" They all nodded. "The Hakurei Shrine god is sealed away or has faded away after being used by Yukari to help power the barrier around Gensokyo that's why all the so-called miracles provided there have to be done by Reimu's magic."

I couldn't help but snort and laugh out loud making the room shake and the children to stare at me in wonder, thankfully with no fear though anymore. "The funniest thing is that Reimu literally doesn't even know the Hakurei shrine God's name so she can't even provide him the faith to allow him to manifest Haha!"

"Alright Sukuna you want strength and right... well get some physical training from Hiro or even learn some magic from Marissa Kirisama as she very well understands the desire to not be normal and be prey of the supernatural." I said making the kid nod in understanding as I wanted to see how far he was willing to go to learn how to become great.

"Now kids let's get you all cleaned up, fed, and then I will show you all some homes where you all can sleep in duo's or something." I said with the whole duo's thing being a quick thought as I doubted these children had any interest in staying all alone in one of those houses all alone for the night after their trauma.
