17 Who's playing now?

Gan Ta approached her while skilfully swinging the baseball bat around. His face was tilted downwards, looking up at her with a threatening glare. In this situation, every other person would be scared to death, yet the excitement in getting to use her fighting skills in her personal life made Chen Ai Yu unconsciously dismiss the feeling of fear.

The other party was open to using tools while Ai Yu had nothing to fight with, so all she could do to make it even was knock one out and steal his weapon. She had her target locked on the guy next to Gan Ta who had just snapped out of his daze and reached for a knife from under a table. She didn't know a lot about knives, but she was sure that the one he had was a Russian military knife. The bottom of the blade close to the handle was jagged.

Ai Yu switched her attention back to Gan Ta. They spiralled around each other like in those western gun fight movies. She was turning her self towards the door so she could escape easier. Without warning, Gan Ta charged at her with the bat aimed towards her head.

While taking note of the other guy's movements, Ai Yu dodged Gan Ta's attack easily and threw a punch towards his abdomen. He coughed and stumbled a few steps back. "For a frail looking girl like you, your punches are not bad," he laughed. "I'm disgusted to get a compliment from you," she replied. The guy took the chance to attempt a kick, but it was clear that he wasn't very experienced in fighting. Moreover, he was wounded from their gang fight from before.

Ai Yu grabbed his leg and flung him towards Gan Ta. It happened so fast that Gan Ta didn't have time to react. The guy dropped his knife and she stepped closer to pick it up before taking a few steps back again.

"You idiot! What are you doing?! Get out of my way!" Gan Ta yelled, pushing the guy off of him. the guy landed on his bum and froze up completely. Ai Yu always waited for the enemy to attack. Gan Ta swung the bat with his right hand to give it momentum as he took slow steps towards her. She saw right through him. He attacked with the bat using two hands before, so why was he using one now? His punch was directed towards her face, but she saw through this too. He was feigning it so that when she dodged, he would attack with the bat.

Instead, she stopped his punch with her right hand and blocked the bat with a high kick. There was a pattern going on, he kept trying to hit her head. She wasted no time to do a push kick as the faint sound of sirens got louder and louder. Gan Ta mouthed a curse word as he realised the police were arriving.

He gritted his teeth in frustration and said, "Since it has come to this, why not end it fast and easy?" He chuckled and took a few careful steps back. Meanwhile, Ai Yu turned her head to the left slightly and took a glance. There were police cars, firefighters and an ambulance infront of the building they were in. Seeing the firefighters, she got an idea.

Gan Ta pulled out a gun and smirked to himself as he filled the gun up with bullets. He didn't even notice that Ai Yu had kicked down the door. She kept a watchful eye on him while taking side steps towards the corridor.

She backed up all the way until she had both hands on the railings. She could hear people calling her name from the bottom. With her hands behind her back, she did a peace sign. "Who's the one playing now?" Gan Ta asked, pointing the gun towards Ai Yu. The moment he did she jumped over the railing and yelled, "You are!" Everyone screamed when they saw her fall from the sixth story. Luckily, the firefighters were quick to react and had gotten a life net out.

What was even more surprising was Liu Jun Yi was making his way up to the sixth floor by the staircase when she had jumped. He had stopped at the fourth floor and as he watched her fall from the sixth floor, he jumped out, caught her in his arms and placed himself on the under side so that she was protected.

"Don't worry, it's me," Jun Yi said as Ai Yu pointed her knife towards his throat. "Liu... Jun Yi?" She asked as she lowered her knife. Before he could answer, they had safely landed on the life net. He turned her around towards him when they were stable. "Yes, it's me."

Ai Yu looked around and started tearing up. "Hey... are you okay? Why are you tearing up? Erm...." Jun Yi said awkwardly, slowly patting her back to try and comfort her. "Glad to see you guys are safe! OK, first thing's first, let's get you two off of the life net and get any wounds you have treated," a firefighter said, extending a helping hand each towards the two. The firefighter pulled the both of them up and they kept the life net.

After which, they were both led to the ambulance to check for wounds. "Take a seat here, I'll make sure you'll be okay so don't worry." the nurse smiled at her as she patted the chair in front of her. Ai Yu obliged and sat down, but she was still sobbing a little. "Cry your heart out, you must be quite shaken up," the nurse comforted. As she started her check up, Ai Yu asked worriedly, "The guys, the kidnappers... have they been caught?" "Ah, so that's what you've been worrying about. They've been caught, yes. Unconscious or conscious, they caught them after u jumped off so no worries. You did a great job today, relax. You have very minor wounds as well!" The nurse responded upon finishing her check up.

Ai Yu nodded. "AI YU!" Familiar voices called out. It was, of course, Mo Chang Chang and Chanming. They both ran towards her and gave her a big bear hug. "HEY! She fractured her tail bone so don't do that! She's in a lot of pain now because of you guys... it might not heal," the nurse said. "WHAT?!" They jumped back in shock. "Oh..... we're so sorry!" Chang Chang said as tears formed in her eyes. Ai Yu started to laugh and cry at the same time. "You're so evil," she said as she playfully punched the nurse in the shoulder.

"Don't worry, she said I have very minor injuries," Ai Yu replied in between sniffs. "I almost forgot, you learnt how to fight in high school. Phew!" Chang Chang exclaimed, placing a hand to her chest. "You yelled something when you jumped, didn't you? What..." "The gang... leader? I don't know what he is, but he pulled out a gun and asked me "who's playing now?" So I replied with "you" that's all," she replied casually, cutting him off.

"It's alright, he has been caught so you guys don't have to worry," the nurse pipped in. Hearing that the enemy had a gun, Chanming's face became so pale that ghosts were quaking. "I just don't think this is going to end so easily..." Ai Yu mumbled to herself, her fingers fidgeting between her knees. "What did you say?" Chanming asked. "It's nothing, I'll discuss it with the policemen later on," she replied, a reassuring smile appearing on her face.

Ai Yu tilted her head up and made eye contact with a policeman as he walked towards them. "The culprits have been caught. It's been a tough day, so let's get you home to rest first. Is it okay if you come in for questioning tomorrow or is it too soon?" The policeman asked in a friendly manner.

"Tomorrow will do," Ai Yu said without hesitation.
